Direct Message - is correct.
I see people on here say send me a DM?
When I was a lad DMs were Doc Martens.
Am I to guess it's a Direct Message, rather than perhaps an Indirect Message that maybe has to travel via three people first. Who the hell knows when these people make up their own language.
I will continue to use Private Messages, those DMs are not for me
On this forum, private message is the correct term. DM is an instagram term I think.
Young people = DM
Oldies = PM
Well I am 60 next year, so clearly an old fart
Inbox me hun
Eh up grandpa.!
Here's an example of how to use the term "DM"

Slide into that DM!
There's only one DM

Deutsche Mark. Or am I now old-fashioned?
"I'm going to slide into those DMs"
Do young people really speak like that. No wonder I cannot understand a word they say. I even told my Mother in Law off for drifting into text speak. I told her that for an ex-English teacher to be using such abbreviations was just not on. I told her to get a grip and use the Queen's English when addressing me
Carpe DM

Reminds me of the old lady that thought LOL stood for lots of love & put it at the end of a sympathy message for a friend suffering a recent bereavement,
Something along the lines of ‘We are all thinking of you at this sad time, we’re very sorry for your loss, LOL Margery & family x

Just put your morse code receiver address at the bottom of each post, and we can reach you that way!
Failing that; semaphore?
Yeah they were great and I still love that era's fashion.
I got a pair of Flemings about 10 years ago and they still had the liver bird on the pocket and the stars and stripes too.
When I got them in the early 70's I was told to keep my mouth closed as I'm not a Scouser or I'd get battered.
Turned out to be a load of b0ll0x and I used to go to Gt Omer St market for the latest fashion and Kensington sports for my boxing gear

I remember buying my first pair of DMs from the Famous Army and Navy Store opposite Lewis' by Central Station. £14 and the money was put in a tube and you had to wait around for the hand written receipt to come back down the same tube system.
Happy days, at a guess that would be 1973/74
PS: don't forget the Black Crombie jacket.

I'm sure my DM's were under a tenner and they were too big but I was determined to have them about '72ish.
I loved those Crombies and didn't even realise they weren't made by Crombie or even that Crombie was a company.
I'd have one now but seeing Nigel Farage wearing one has put me off.

A DM is an incredibly badly designed boot, suitable only for teenagers who can be fooled into thinking that breaking them in is a right of passage. Anyone over the age of 30 will realise that good boots don't destroy your feet.
Meanwhile a PM is a sort of clown, as far as I can tell...
But people who wore them thought they were hard. I remember some lad trying to kick me in his and it was like being kicked by your Nan in her slippers
What were the other alternatives to DMs, sort of like Wrangler or Levi's, they made shoes with same air filled sole, can't remember the name but they were popular.
Come on guys...
