Going to give this a try for the GTG later ...

Lovely glass of kwak just now, really loving my current phase of trying some Belgian beers, even if the strengths are some what loopy juice territory.
Annoyingly still no despatch notice for my PD machine / kegs. Was hoping to be set up for the weekend. Here’s hoping!

Officially on holiday for a couple of weeks now so one or maybe more of these
Starting with this one. It’s a bit sweet.
Perfect Draft just delivered, very excited but wishing it had been delivered yesterday so I can enjoy a beer tonight.
Keg in the fridge chilling, zero room in the freezer for it.
The nights are becoming darker, the ale must follow suit . . .

I remember Joseph Holt bitter as being crap. It is actually quite nice!
And at £2.90 a pint most reasonable too....
Out for a stroll, as ever rude not to call in. This flies down, really belies it's 4.8% . . .

There used to be a bar in my home town that specialised in, amongst other things, Belgium beer. Kwak was one of many they kept in their fridges, I loved it so much that I invested in the proper Kwak glass and stand for drinking at home, the bugger thing is that I lost it in a house move...
I dropped by my local beer shop yesterday and picked up a good few cans, amongst them was this WCIPA from Verdant -
Pigs All Day
I've also just ordered Ardbeg's porter from MoM. Big fan of their whiskies and I visited the distillery last year, thought it was worth a punt.

My glass was provided by my best man just this week, daft price for a beer glass though, need 2 for when a friend visits though - apparently a Belgian bar requires you to give a shoe as a deposit as they were losing so many glasses each week.
My PD keg of Shelby went down very quickly with my father over lunch, Kwak or Leffe next to chill down. Just ordered a Goose IPA, Frankie Royal & Tripel K from beer hawk, think I might keep it for weekend / entertaining guests as otherwise the costs will spiral as my waistline grows. Such a great piece of kit; yes the blade looks better & is a better bit of equipment, but so limited with the beers.
Would love a real ale pump too, but cleaning etc just seems a bit of a PITA for the pleasure - not researched, but based on my fathers career in the trade....he might be wrong though lol.
Yet another IPA, and a bloody good one at that.
A refreshing starter . . .

This is a new one for me, very nice too . . .

An old favourite, only one left after this, gotta hope Home Bargains get some more in, 500ml/6% for 99p!

The CWC looks great on that strap Alan, you must bring it up next visit. In a similar vein of digression . . .

For lunch I had a couple of Woodforde's Admiral's Reserve followed by an Abbot or two...so I don't need any more tonight
A few to catch up on...
Those two DIPA’s I mentioned before were from Verdant
And Popihn from Paris...
One for the dark arts lovers amongst us...
And of a more fruity persuasion...
A post Bike Park Wales trail afternoon refresher...
What I can only describe as “Pimms beer” (which was actually bloody good!)...
A lovely smooth number from Good Things near my hometown down in Kent...
An exceptional collaboration between Burning Sky and Brasserie de la Senne...
One of my locals got a refresh and their first beer on cask? Thornbridge Jaipur. Happy bloomin’ days...
And in true tz style, current SoTN...

I love US beers but you’re dedication is one-step further than mine. I’ll bide my time, await the chance to get back to New York, and fly back with a full suitcase from Other Half, Finback, Singlecut, Decadent, Captain Lawrence and whatever other goodies I can muster from the city bottleshops and trades with my beer buddies!
Beggars can't be choosers lol
Just 350 quids worth of Pliny and Treehouse

Would Sir like a beer? Or a smokey bacon sandwich covered in smokey sauce? Can’t decide?
I think I have just discovered the best hangover cure ever. I’ll let you know the morning after the next vGTG.
Not sure how that happened but seemed to have had some mystery posting putting my son to bed.

Masterofmalt delivered a 4-pack of The Shortie porter earlier today, one pack per person when ordering and they're all sold out now.
It's lovely. There's a cleverly played level of smoke that comes across with a pinch of coal ash, liquorice, coffee and Marmite - it tastes better than it sounds!
Ardbeg's 10 is supposed to be a great pairing however the only Ardbeg I have is their Uigealdail, that's the glass on the right.

Sun sea sand and dark lager in a frozen glass!
I can’t see me moving from this spot for a bit.
The week in beer so far here...
I had an excellent night on Thursday with some pals from work, where we’ve been holding monthly “try some new beers” evenings. It all started because a few of them wanted to do The Bermondsey Beer Mike Brewery tap tour (which I arranged for April but got cancelled), and I ended up doing a virtual one with them.
Anyway, they enjoyed it so much we decided to do German beers next, so this week was one-of-two, 4-beer sessions, curated by a colleague who’s a keen home brewer.
We started with Augustiner-Bräu Lagerbier Hells, then enjoyed a Schöfferhofer Hefeweizen, a Berliner Kindl Weisse Himbeere fruited berliner weisse and then finished up with this big, bold Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier, because it’s the time for märzen!
It’s the first of this style I recall drinking and I was surprised at how full-flavoured it was for a lagered beer. A style I’m going to try more of for sure.
Then last night it was back on the hazy juice...
...with a dark finish to go with some chocolate.
Bit of a fug this morning. Off for a bike ride to blow the cobwebs away!
