    Photobucket alternative please

    Gents,

I’ve used photobucket for years, predominantly just for posting pic’s on forums.

However they’re getting worse and worse, my ‘upgrade renewal’ isn’t due for another six months but now they’ve blocked my ‘direct links’ to upload and they’re ignoring my emails too.

Please could you recommend a better alternative?

I don’t mind paying, I just want something simple to use and forum-friendly to upload pics.

    Thank you.

SmugMug, the basic package is excellent and the storage is unlimited.

    Spuds,

FWIW, far from me to be supporting Pb here, but are you using their new version? I'm asking as I was having real problems using the 'direct links' too (along with various other issues) but by chance I found the new version and it works much, much better - including the direct links.

Thanks for the tips Gents and Ralphy thanks for the Pb steer too, I’ve no idea which I’m using but will have a go at seeing if I can find out!

    It looks like this:

It's not perfect but it's a lot better and it's much faster too.

A bit left field but I have a couple domain registered with one.com and one of them is also registered with web space. This gives me a control panel within which I can upload files which can then be shared. It was an accidental discovery after pb lost it but it works for me.

If Ralphy has successfully used the 'new' version of PhotoBucket, then he must be one of the lucky ones.

Evidently (according to dozens of comments on their FaceBook page) it's another unmitigated disaster.

Many users who've converted to the 'new' version appear to have lost all their previous hosted images.

This was PhotoBuckets's latest typically understated post on FaceBook two days ago. Says it all really.

Other users would beg to differ. Check out the last comment (from their FaceBook, dated 7th June):

    Postimage. Simple and it works.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

    Re: Photobucket,
I was simply stating what my own experience was since they revamped their site to a new version - and I was doing that in response to the OP who seemed to be considering moving away from them and perhaps was still on the old version.

After quite a number of years of acceptable service I then began to experience a number of problems using Pb and after that I wouldn’t have recommended them, nor am I recommending then now.

    The end is nigh ....

You're not alone in that respect. I have a suspicion that effectively locking users accounts is part of their (undeclared) plan to migrate all paid-up users to the new version - by disabling uploading / navigation on the old version. Like their ill-conceived P500 'ransomware' plan of 3 years ago, this may be their final undoing, as more and more once loyal customers simply walk away in disgust.

If you've got 5 minutes (or maybe a bit longer), you may want to read this:
