Anyone watch ‘Unbroken’ on film 4 last night. Long but great film about American taken as POW by the Japanese.

This is a great film and probably one of the last good films Cusack has done. Has he done anything reasonable / good in the last 15 years or so? I've seen him in some decidedly mediocre (verging on crap) stuff over this last 15 years. As an aside the soundtrack to Grosse point blank is very good.
I have been recommended Lost Bullet on Netflix, it's a Frech film.

THE WRESTLER
Undoubtedly mentioned before, on Amazon Prime if you haven't seen it or fancy a revisit.
What a solid piece of storytelling, both the film and Mickey Rourke were robbed at the Oscars.
1917. Very good film, gives a good realistic feeling of what a day in the life of a foot soldier was like.
However, the only niggle is, as per usual with war movies and I don’t think this is a spoiler, the baddies can’t hit anything for toffee, whereas the goodies hit their mark first time.

It is indeed very solid, Mickey Rourke manages to bring real pathos to the role. You'd have to go all the way back to his turn in Angel Heart, for my money, for as good a performance.

Watches Spotlight last night-
All about the Catholic Priests scandal back in 2002 in Boston, one of those you put on then get engrossed in it. Few A-List actors Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton Etc...

The Grand Budapest Hotel - weird and wonderful in equal measure.
Wind River on Netflix. Good story based on real events, with a truly bitter background (google Oliphant vs Suquamish about limited jurisdiction inside Indian Territories) and wonderfully scenes of Wyoming.
Recommended.
I agree. I've rewatched the trailerpark scene several times on Youtube. Writer Taylor Sheriden is a master at creating scenes with palpable, sweaty-palms tension - he did the same with the US/Mexico border crossing scene in Sicario.
Jeremy Renner is also excellent in this, an actor that never disappoints.
'7500' on Amazon Prime is absolutely top draw edge of the seat stuff. Disconcertingly authentic according to my cabin crew girl friend. Highly recommended.

No doubt they’ve been covered but watched The Gentleman yesterday (and The Rise of Skywalker) - definitely got to be a Guy Ritchie fan, but best he’s done since Snatch....enjoyed very much and Hugh Grant was very funny.
In Star Wars case, t’was OK it not the big ending I was hoping for after 40 odd years of the saga, but then I didn’t really know what kind of ending I wanted either.
Freaks on Netflix, hugely greater than its low-budget indie status. The first act is very much "WTF is going on?" but it does a great job of tying up the loose ends without spoon-feeding the viewer. Emile Hirsch is brilliantly manic, Bruce Dern is Bruce Dern cranked up to 11 and the child actress lead is fantastic. Don't watch the trailer or read reviews, just watch the movie, it's better to go in blind.

Usually don't like these superhero romps but this was pretty good; probably enjoyed because my future wife's in it.
They certainly hit John Wicks, but never enough to kill him.

Children of Men and Rocknrolla are both back on Netflix. Both excellent films, obviously in different ways.
There was supposed to be a sequel to Rocknrolla, but apart from anything else, they couldn't afford to reassemble that cast.
Watched Superswede list night on Sky Documentaries, a film from a couple of years back about Ronnie Peterson.
It was very very good, well worth a watch if you have any interest in motorsport
I also watched this film, it is very good, although it is unusual to see Marvel actors in other films. After watching this film and several more films of this director, his works became interesting for me in terms of jurisprudence and law. Children of Men is as good if not better than the original Blade Runner, if anyone hasn’t seen it. The car scene especially. Just a fantastic, unforgettable film.

Took a gamble on 'The Disappearence Of Alice Creed' on Prime tonight and it paid off. Great little low budget British kidnap drama.
completely agree. One I was pushed to watch last night and I was chuckling throughout.
Started watching The Americans (on Amazon Prime) and a couple of episodes in.....really hooked.
It's worth it just for Gemma Arterton.
She's my new crush. She's great in 'The Girl With All The Gifts' too.
LIFE AFTER FLASH
Terrific documentary about Flash Gordon and its star Sam Jones.
Most of the cast are involved including Brian Blessed who of course is madcap hilarious; well worth a watch if you like the movie.
