I wanna know what the watch was. He was getting his head kicked in by 4 blokes, and still trying to hold on to it, so it must have been something special.
A tourist in Barcelona has been attacked by four guys and had his watch stolen.
So if you do make it to a holiday in the Mediterranean or anywhere else be careful what you wear and where.

Barcelona, Benidorm and Ibiza Town are just three locations blighted by this sort of thing. You should be able to wear your possessions but sometimes you just can’t.
I hope it was a replica of a prized piece that is used only for holidays. Would love to see their faces when they give it a good examination.
The criminals in this case have clearly never heard of CCTV and modern facial recognition trickery.

Just got back late last night from a repatriation flight it was less than a quarter full whilst completing the walk round and waiting on the jetty an English couple came on at the last minute escorted by the Despatcher they looked really harassed and anxious I asked the despatcher what was their story they had been chased by locals as Covid-19 carriers in the belief that England has a huge number of carriers and cases I really felt for them they had been self isolating for 10 weeks. They had left a case behind as the locals wouldn't let them get back to their apartment.Stay safe where ever You are People there is a lot of anger and weird behaviour going on out there.
Had my Submariner taken off my wrist (slight of hand) in Barcelona a few years ago. I see some things don’t change - except they weren’t as adept
“Videos were taken by bystanders as passersby did nothing to stop the robbery”. - strangely reminds me of one of the Black Mirror episodes.

You do see threads on here, what watch should I wear on holiday. Each to their own and all that, but I would rather leave a decent watch at home safe and secure and wear a G-Shock. At least it encourages the bad guys to look elsewhere.
I once had a hairy moment with someone trying to take my watch on holiday - I have not been back to Rhyl since.
That made me look through my travel photos to Barcelona last year to see what I was wearing. Thankfully it was a Seiko rather than something more pricey. Quite a scary experience for that couple.
I think I also subconsciously wear a less expensive watch when travelling to areas that are seen as less safe. Some parts of London for example... Better safe than sorry.
One reason why I like to wear the 39mm Explorer, no one ever notices it.
I've travelled all over the world with both the Merchant Navy and the Oil and Gas industry and I have been to some ropey places.
Having said that, I was in Barcelona last year for 3 days and late at night I would say it is the most threatening place I have ever been.
I think it's a bit silly to think this is a "foreign places" issue.
I know plenty of places where you could get your head kicked in and your Rolex pinched without having to spring for a flight.
Yes now I need to go shopping for a holiday watch. Any excuse will do really

Can you really say you've been to Barcelona if you haven't had anything stolen?
Shocking - its absolutely disgusting and I hope the culprits receive a lengthy sentence.
I've been thinking it might be time to carry one of those leather watch pouches, like Everest or similar, so whenever the atmosphere gets a bit dodgy, I can just slip the watch off and into the pouch safely and securely. Shame we have to do things like this these days, but here we are.
It's not only on holiday you have to be careful, it's everywhere. Tourists could be considered easier targets as often their usual guards are down.
What holiday?
"Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it's enemy action."
"You gotta know when to hold em and know when to fold em".
Sadly that’s Barcelona these days. Wonderful city, wonderful local people, best football team in the world (😉) but spoilt by these gangs over the last decade
I've been to Barcelona twice and on both occasions, I was targeted by pick pocketers on the tube network. I was 100% expecting this so made sure I knew where my valuables were, and these were mostly back at home. I also agree that certain areas in the evening can feel edgy but I would like to think I'm savvy enough to avoid these positions.
But in general - what a city, I love it and will go back. So much history and culture.
I like Barcelona but each time I visit, it seems to be getting worse for this sort of violence. I've probably been fortunate nothing has actually happened to me but next time I'll be wearing a Casio F91W just to be sure.
At least it seems this time they got arrested
