I love the shape of the lugs... both top-down, and side-view.

Put me down for a black one.

Happy with that - I've an SBIII and PRS-29 so didn't think that there was space for this but it's different enough to earn a spot I think ...

I wanted an expedition but now I am thinking this may be a better option. It looks great, well done Eddie.

The only thing I would question is the strap, I think a standard buckle would be better.

That's rather nice looking. Love the lugs.

I'm failing my search-fu, anyone care to share a link to the thread with discussion about specs (size, etc)?

That with the black dial would end my search for a Mk XII, actually. Am I the only one who thinks the minute and second hands look a touch long, though?

    Wow.

But I wonder about two things:

-the lug holes. Do they look a little high on the lug, and too far in? It sort of makes the strap look a bit too close to the watch head.

-the black dial. It's a very deep black, not really like the matt, charcoal colour of the original render and the MkXII.

But I'll buy it no matter what...

Think the hand lengths are perfect and exactly as original proportional to the dial. As I won't be in a position to afford an original in the near future I suspect I will have to have one of these. I would probably prefer it without the meaningless circled L though, but either way, just lovely.

Surely it's a Mk XI homage (no date, circle L)?

Oops. That's what I meant. In any case the Mk XI that I've looked at closely had a less intensely black dial.

Probably faded, the first ones are more than 70 years old now.

Oh my, I almost dropped my coffee when I saw this thread. I have been looking so forward to these photo's and they have not disappointed me Eddie. This is definitely on my list for 2020. Great job on this one, as if there was any doubt about it. Thanks so much for all your hard work Eddie.

I think one of the best features of the MK11 is the oversized crown, and the Navigator looks like it has that same great crown which is so great on a hand wound watch.

Looking very tasty, I think my potential purchase of an Expedition is now on hold.
The lug hole positioning is dfficult, the current place looks great for a top fit of a relatively thin leather strap, but it might make a NATO sit high above the lugs.
The caseback texture might improve? Looks a little basic.
I think the dial balance is really nice.
And the polished bezel on the brushed case looks very nice.

Just a comment about the quantity. I ordered 300 of the Sellita SW210 "Top" last November and they are due to be delivered in July, although I don't know if that's still the case with all that's been happening. To get more of the Sellita will take at least 12 months and there's no ETA to be had.

Sounds like it’s going to be Navigator dogfight.

I would definitely be in for a black dial.

On other words, these are going to be sold out in about 12 seconds. My indecision over whether I prefer the black dial or the blue hands will undoubtedly be my downfall.

FWIW, I looove my Omega deployant. This seems to be the same style. It's far more comfortable than any other type of clasp or buckle I've found so far.

I concur. Not only more comfortable but with the tail tucked on the inside it has a very svelte and clean look on the wrist.

That is so well done Eddie - my watch plans for this year have not gone well and this may add to the madness! I think I prefer black, but the lighter dial also looks fab.

So do you have a rough idea when these would be available, maybe with the August batch of Everest's?

Never, the movements aren't due until July and I'm expecting delivery of those to be delayed.

Indeed it is. I wonder if Eddie will offer it for sale on it's own? It would complete 'the look' for some of his other Smiths watches if you fancy a change of strap.

Even though they're identical to the original 1948 issue?

They don't look identical from the photos, Minute hand looks too long, second hand too short.

I hadn't thought about the spring bar hole positioning until you mention it but I see exactly what you mean. A little further down (not further out) would enable all straps including a NATO sit nicely like on my PRS-29am. I love both the white and black dial. I'm a sucker for the heat blued hands and if I didn't already have the Air Ministry, this is the one I'd go for, so the black dial is therefore the preferred option to fit within my collection. Great job Eddie....they look fantastic.

Is the lug hole positioning matched to the original, out of curiosity?

Mm, very nice. I do agree on the lug hole placement. It's a bit tight on the Everest, making it not ideal for a thicker single-pass strap, leather Zulu etc., and this looks similar. Just 1mm further out and down would increase the versatility and allow for appropriate military-style options.

I'll take a black one - tough to think I might be waiting a year!

It's a gorgeous watch! I just can't get past the 'decapitated' hour hand, realizing that's how IWC designed it.

I thought I'd never do this, but my PRS-1 may have to go to make room for this one. Can you do a Smiths Bonklip for this model please Eddie? I'll wait.
