    Bugger!! 🙁

    Hi all

I've been wanting to pick a Seiko 007 up for a while after doing a trade for one but having to trade back!

Found one around 20 miles from me in at a great price (£100 with an extra bracelet) at Barnsley and arranged to go and view it (With the social distancing thing eveident!)..

Got to the house and knocked on the door whereupon the wife answered, Asked if I was John and then proceeded to tell me that he was setting the date and snapped the crown off!

He was actually out trying to get it fixed as I was there, She said he messaged me 20mins before but I was tootling up the M1 and so couldn't answer even if i'd heard it!!

    The watch and bracelet..

Well, It looks like the 007 is bad luck to me!!

    John

On the plus side, the crown could have fallen off ten minutes after you’d handed over your cash

That is a great price though. Nowadays. Once upon a time you could get a brand new one for that.

I still wish I'd kept mine.

I would have knocked 30 quid off and bought a new crown/movement and sorted it myself, would have still been a good deal!!

I would have tried but the wife said he'd already gone off with it to try and get it repaired- Maybe he was in the back and had a better offer for it!!

How can anyone snap the crown off a watch just by changing the date. Was the seller wearing boxing gloves at the time.

My brother did it with his Tag Kirium, He has stubby digits and bites his nails down to the woodwork so he put a knife under one edge of the crown!

Luckily he found a replacement shaft and crown and I shortened the staff and fitted it for him, I'd no idea how to set it though!

I tried saving the crown by rotting the broken stem out with bleach, Then vinegar but it seems the shaft was stainless steel too! and not affected like the normal carbon steel, Managed to do it with a Seiko crown but i've no idea where the heck I put it!!

Maybe you're right - the 007 and you were just not meant to be.

Take comfort from that, and get a 009 instead.

    Good for you Sir.

I have my 009 on the factory Jubilee, and whilst floppy, it has never failed in the years I've had it, and, to top it off, the most comfortable bracelet I've had. Not that other bracelets are uncomfortable, it's just the way the Jubilee moulds to the shape of your wrist.

I agree about the comfort aspect of the Jubilee, Also, I reckon it looks much nicer than the others too!

I have one on my 7002

Can't remember what this one is called on the other 7002 but it's not as comfy!! (President maybe?)

Seeing this thread made me check out the Strapcode website and I didn't realise that they did jubilee bracelets for the old SARB033/035 range, am seriously tempted :D
