The more I look at the different models the more confused I become
Is there any logic to the model numbers etc,?
Yeah, why would you look to buy a watch based on model number?!?!?

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
That’s easy, one is a dual chronograph, one isn’t.
Is a 756 a 757 without the bezel?
so
S = Black
UTC = GMT
?
what's DIAPAL?
Have you had a look in the Sinn picture thread? Plenty of inspiration there.

Yah I think so

I always liked the look of the 140. I believe the PVD version is the "space watch" and this is a modified chronograph?
Dont see many pictures of them about.
Indeed, very good at record keeping, the Germans.
I have a T2 I keep thinking of moving on and getting something different.
The 'Made in Germany' on the dial spoils it a bit for me. There's probably not enough room for 'Hergestellt in Deutschland' but a simple 'Deutschland' would be more fitting. IMHO
Problem is Switzerland really has four languages; German, French, Italian and Romansh, so it might get a bit confusion for an international market? And isn’t ‘Swiss made’ a kind of protected term?
I always thought it was a bit different / how Breitling uses French ‘certifie’ rather than ‘certified’, I assume because their home part of Switzerland is French speaking.
There’s some (quite a bit of) history as to why “Made in Germany” ist used, generally speaking: “[...] in 1878 the UK-government introduced the Merchandise Marks act to allow consumers to be able to choose whether or not they would continue to purchase goods from foreign economies.
Germany successfully leveraged the Made in Germany tag as a brand synonymous of product reliability and quality.”
Strictly speaking “Hergestellt in Deutschland” (=“Made in Germany”, in German) is a relatively new term. Sinn have been around for 50+ years, so seems coherent that they would use the older term?
I’m with the OP though, some of the Sinn models seem very similar. If I may: I understand that the 358 is a bigger version of their 356? But what’s the difference between the 103 and the 358? And the 144?
Etc.

Just image search Sinn watches, or visit Neil at Chronomaster, pick watches you like the look of, then do your research from there. Diapal etc will all become more easily understood then.
Research is a major part of any purchase for me and part of the fun and excitement of understanding more about a particular watch / brand.
Enjoy!
Apologies, kind of misread your title and my response does sound rather condescending which clearly wasn’t my intention
A lot of the time with Sinn numbering the difference in sequence refers to case size reduction, no bezel etc.
Great brand by the way and my go to choice. My last watch would always be a Sinn.
757 Diapal would be my choice. Best of everything!

As someone said earlier, the archive section of Sinn.de is perfect for working out which model is which.
Some, for sure, are initially very similar (eg 103 vs 203 vs 206).
However, a cursory glance reveals (for example) that a 103 is nothing like a 144.

A very timely thread as I’m in the same position as the OP. The world of Sinn is completely new to me and I’m enjoying researching to decide which model might be for me. The archive is very helpful. Thankyou.
When I got my first Sinn ,I never realised how addictive they are, never paid much attention to model numbers just bought what took my eye.
I can indeed vouch for the fact that the 103 and 144 are different. My 144 from Neil arrived this morning!
Was only allowed a quick look as it is for my birthday later this month.
It will be my 4th Sinn. I think the brand are great.

Not really sure what the problem is - Sinn have a very comprehensive website that's orders of magnitude better than most larger makers manage. Every conceivable piece of information any sane person might want is on there. There's a good search facility and a thorough glossary of the more specialist terminology. Just requires a little time and effort. Baffled why OP would want to confuse himself further looking at an archive of watches that are not available any more, unless it's in the faint hope they may show-up used....
It has - this says "Made in Germany" in German. It is also on the solid case back (I have both). It is not on the dial.
EDIT: Found it written on a dial (not my watch).
Back on topic - I think this is such a handsome watch and one of the very few Sinn makes without a date (I only buy no date watches). They limited it to 100 pieces which is idiocy since they could have sold a boatload of them, including to someone like me who would not otherwise buy a Sinn.
