Jaguar F Pace, petrol or diesel? Anyone had/got one?

Decided to get a F Pace, but 'umming and 'arring about which engine to go with. Diesel 25d 240hp or petrol 25t 250hp. Anyone had either and have any observations on pros and cons?

Suggestions to get the SVR will be politely ignored!!

    Thanks.

I'd say petrol given diesel is now the fuel of the devil (spoken by a current diesel driver and not a Jag btw)

Jaguar and diesel are 2 words that should never be seen together in a sentence. Even if the engines are very good.

As it’s not exactly a sports car, the diesel is a lot more torqueier, what do they both do to the gallon

If you are taking a current, 2020 model new then the 4 cylinder petrols are the more refined powertrain of the two. The 4 pot diesels never really had the refinement the car deserved imho.

To be honest I did think that, until I bought the E-Pace! Comes from growing up around old MK2s, 10s and XJs I suppose, petrol was king. They were cheap cars as well, in days gone by, at least until you got to the petrol pump!

I miss my XJ sometimes. Wonderful car, although I regretted not taking the ‘Hannibal Lecter’, the XJR.

Well roughly 10mpg less for the petrol for any given driving behaviour. They have similar 0-60 and top speeds but I'm just wondering if one has more 'go' in the mid range where we spend most of our driving time.

The biggest impression on me was the anti-dive properties and interior. Oh and IRS (chromed) for customs (every Pop had one it seemed) of course!!

    The interior was proper
Cream leather and burr walnut. And it went well too, in silence (compared to other cars of the era).

Yes, some of the accompanying noise in those days would seem strange nowadays!

If your going to do short journeys get the petrol,I had a 17 plate discovery sport diesel and by 15k miles it had 5 oil changes due to oil dilution (lots online about it on all new diesel engines)

I looked at the 2.0 petrol after but it was only getting 25-35mpg average.

Not sure if the 2.0l 240hp is affected in the F Pace but will check it out thanks.
