Picked up last week from the forum. Great watch so far but quite loud in both ticking and rotor. My wife compared it to a cheap Swatch she used to have. Also quite weird that it has a jumping hour hand (GMT style) to change the date. Still, really like it and it is something different for me.

Totally wrong. They changed to clear AR at the back end of the 2500C. I actually think you were even part of the conversation on WUS regarding this many years ago, but I could be wrong?
The only difference angles make is that the purple can look clear. The clear cannot look purple. As you correctly said, they are both double coated.
EDIT
My apologies, it wasn't you on WUS

Recent purchase from sales corner.
No not me. Interesting threads and it is news to me the crystal coat changed. No offence but I don't see anything definitive there, just opinions and one or 2 of the shots showing the later supposedly clear coating look pretty purple to me, certainly my PO 2500C was pretty clear so you'll forgive me for being a little skeptical. I'll send an AD I know a mail asking the question and report back. Hopefully he can check to see if there was a change in part numbers. I accept though that if he isn't aware it isn't definitive that it didn't change.
When I bought my 2500D the seller stated the main difference aside from the movement was the clear NR. I certainly haven't see any purple/blue hue from the crystal at all, it is perfectly clear and the dial is very legible.
No offence taken mate.
Let's call it a general consensus that it changed then as I have no definitive proof from Omega that it did.
As the two PO's in my post are/were mine, there was absolutely a significant difference between the two AR coating hues.
There was a fair amount of debate about it several years ago, the outcome being the assumption that it had changed, but like you, there were also many that didn't agree.
Archer may know?
Recycling an old pic but have this on my wrist today :)

That is rather what I meant. The PRS29 has a type of AR coating that means it can be clear or purple/blue, depending on the type of light source, and how it is angled towards that source. And with a different type of coating, it could always just be clear, and black. (If you look at the black prs29 on timefactors, it gives an idea of this blueish hue, but a lot of the time is is quite clear and quite black)
Very proud of my new watch
Love my PO too

The Constellation with the partially hidden crown is a 168.010 case reference, of which I own two. I`ll take some pics tomorrow when the light's OK, just restored one over Christmas as a birthday present to myself (Jan 4th).
The hidden crown was a daft idea, makes the watch difficult to wind with the 'correct' crown fitted, but I guess the aim was to get a certain look. This crown is no longer available and the replacement for this case is deeper, which is no bad thing. Even then it needs winding with the finger and thumbnail!
Apologies, terrible pictures.
And the PO with the rest of the current collection:
New strap.
