Walk along canal with Mrs T and dogs , then into Kirkstall brewerys Bridge pub for long of
Dexter Salted Caramel porter followed by a Black Band porter , Mrs T had a Framboise and a
wine , all beers really good.
You are lucky to have such a good BIL in the family thats for sure. Now I know it exists I will need to see if I can track down a keg for NYE.
Very tasty, too easy to drink.
Doesn't taste like 9.5%

A welcome return of a Manchester classic...
Cheers from Hertfordshire!
A Happy and Healthy New Year to beer drinkers where ever you may be

Williams Brothers for me tonight.
Started with a March of the Penguins stout, then a Caesar Augustus, and now on their craft lager. I should have done this in reverse.
Tonight’s offering in my local.
And a cracking pint it is.

It’s a good’un but I’m more of a PINT (well, METRIC now) man myself
I’m rarely in Manchester sadly but the last time I was there I had a very nice session at the bar of the Arch! Went in for a couple, stayed for about 5hrs and tried pretty much everything they had on the pumps. If I come back I will certainly send you a message Kirk.
Last three of 2019...
Unbarred from Hove make some unusual, but very nice beers. Tropic Soda was probably the fruitiest non-hazy style IPA I’ve had.
Verdant’s FIVE A.M. double IPA has been lauded by the instabeer community as one of the best 9 beers of 2019, so I managed to snag a tin from my neighbour in a swapsie and I’m glad I did. Absolutely perfectly balanced strong, juicy NE style IPA, hides the booze and really is a very fine example of the style.
And to finish the evening, 2019 and the Teenies decade, it had to be a big stout. Another fine offering from the Falmouth crew, their Export Stout is rich, dark chocolatey, an indulgent full-bodied stout with a drying cocoa-bitterness to finish. Here’s to 2020 and their new brewery launching!
Last two of the French batch:
The Blonde was a bit too blonde for me but the Christmas one was good.
At 7% it was a bit strong but a nice flavour. The Blanche was the pick of the bunch and shall remember to get some when I am with them. Although I much prefer the Norman cider.

No snaps but I’ve decided to ease up a bit for a month or so - not stop mind! - so last night I was on Brewdog Punk AF. Pretty good stuff for an alcohol-free beer.
A Samuel Smiths festive ale this afternoon whilst packing away the Christmas decs!
This was very pleasant with fish & chips for lunch yesterday.
This was less so with a steak and ale pie. The dominant flavour was (unfortunately) coffee grinds.
Had to pop into town to attend to some business at the bank, so an hour earlier than normal for my Friday swally. Hey ho, needs must. ;-) A cheeky 4.8% Prince Bishop Ale to start, quite apt when supping in the Land of the Prince Bishops . . .

Great to find Duvel Tripel Hop on sale in the UK.
Ultra hoppy and at 9.5% packs areal punch, but the flavours are just superb.
On Greek St in Leeds at the moment and trying a few beers tonight.
I can't have drunk that much over Christmas as I still have some of my holiday stash to knock back.
Boy do I need this tonight. Not sure how well it will go with the curry.

Had to pop in to pick up a brace of freshly shot pheasants. Of course one has to put a drink behind the bar for such generosity, and as ever it's rude not to so, Prince Bishop please . . .

A trio of dark beers tonight. Got some seasoned chopped wood ready to burn in the chimnea while I enjoy tonight's clear skies.

... and here is said chimnea.

You'd think that this was a percent or two lower than its stated 10% ABV, so easy is it to drink. It's quite sweet, the vanilla certainly makes itself present in this affogato style stout, for my tastes it could work with just a touch more coffee bitterness however I'd be nitpicking as I'd drink it again with little issue.

I’m in India at the moment, and beyond the ubiquitous main brand crap (yes Kingfisher, I mean you), there’s a pretty active craft beer scene.
This is a relatively new brand which is a Belgian wit-style beer, pretty good actually...
I forgot to take snaps of three local brews I tried at lunch yesterday, a guava and chili seasonal sour and a nice hoppy IPA from Great State Aleworks, and an American Pale Ale from Effingut Brewerkz.
I also brought some home favourites with me so that my hotel minibar is full of hoppy goodness from Cornwall’s Verdant...
It also has something to do with the fact that I currently have 77 bottles/cans in my home cellar, and I need to make some headway before I can buy anything else. I’m getting a lot of grief from Mrs me!
That stout you had above looks and sounds right up my alley. What a bomber.
Pint of this in Town Street Tavern , if you like Titanic Plum Porter this is even better ! get some if you can it’s fantastic

Pelicon Black Aroma tonight.
Blurb -
"Dark smooth body with chocolate and coffee notes. Rounded with fine bitterness of Styrian Aurora - noble Slovene hop variety. Very drinkable dark ale. Awarded Best In Show at Central European Craft Beer Conference in Budapest".
As above, lots of coffee and chocolate in this one.
Very nice, but one is enough.

A present brought from afar. Somewhere between a mild and a stout. Very nice too . . .

A rare Friday off. In Red House at Newcastle quayside, enjoying a lovely fruity pint of Plum porter.

Glass of this , curtesy of eldest doing PHD in Edinburgh , chocolates notes with slight cherry aftertastes, a very nice drink.
Had a pint in local earlier, Kirkstall brewery’s Dexter Porter series, vanilla and tonkoko , another winner from one of my favourite breweries

The Raven's being given a rest, luckily another stout is made just up the road. More of traditional stout, none of the sweetness of the Raven but just as nice . . .
