Time Bandits is on right now. The Robin Hood scene is classic comedy gold.
Watched Klaus on Netflix tonight. Absolutely brilliant. A great story with beautiful animation, it’s going into my annual list of Christmas movies to watch.
Watched Mule last night with Clint Eastwood and really enjoyed it
Just realised its based around a true story too

6 Underground on Netflix last night, really good fast action film with Ryan Reynolds. Over the top and unrealistic but if you like Mission Impossible type stuff this is for you.
Cheers..

Watched the Irishman on netflix really enjoyed it but be prepared it's long, and not as good as Goodfellas.
Motherless Brooklyn. Long and sometimes a little self indulgent but overall a real gumshoe private Dick movie. Great performances by Ed Norton and Alec Baldwin
Yea I watched over two nights, not blown away to be honest. I also watched the half hour Irishman chat with the actors and Scorsese. The best bit is the slow drive towards the end of the film and the build up to the inevitable. I felt the actors even with the CGI just looked to old to be acting themselves as young men. Not one of his best films and far to long.
Watched Destination Wedding last night and really enjoyed the dialogue. Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder work very well together.
It doesn't have great ratings, but it was my type of humour.
I endured The Irishman the previous night and am still wondering where I'm going to get those 3.5 hours of my life back.
Now I thought it was okay and the best 'new' film I've seen in a while. It would have been better if the actors were 20 years younger... I agree, even with the CGI they still looked too old or, more accurately, they moved too old. Goodfellas was loads better but the pickings are quite poor in the films dept. nowadays; you have to take what you're given. I'm of the opinion if you think a film is too long then it's because you don't like it. If you like it then you don't want it to stop... As I say I quite liked it so had no issues with 3.5 hours.
Watched A Private War recently .
A biopic about Marie Colvin, the Times war journalist .
Mainly about Iraq and Syria and the civilian cost .
Very gritty and uncomfortable viewing but , for me, an absolute must see.
Rosamund Pike is excellent in the lead role .
I used to read Colvin’s accounts in the paper and the film certainly shows her bravery in getting the stories back .
Great movie and best car chase (how they got away with doing that in Florence is beyond me) I’ve seen for a long while. Totally worth the watch.

Not out here yet but very much looking forward to watching this early in the new year.
Wow! That looks groundbreaking!
Thanks for posting the trailer - never seen anything quite like that.
So clever my foot fell off.
Trading Places :-)
Now Christmas can begin...
Can’t remember if it was on Netflix or prime movies but we watched a family movie called Wonder, I absolutely loved it similar vein to Mask with Cher years ago but more family. Well worth a watch imo
Cats
Last night at the insistence of Mrs V
It has a disturbing nightmarish and bizarre quality but I found it oddly entertaining - it seemed more like a ballet than a musical to me though.
I see that it has been panned by critics and by many on social media and they are hastily making changes to the CGI which I don't think it needs.
I’m sure no one else will agree (esp given the first page of the rise of Skywalker thread that I just couldn’t face reading more of), but I really enjoyed Rise of Skywalker.
Finally caught up with Joker (in a seven row screening room at an art house cinema in Budapest no less). Not what I was expecting at all but a very good film with superb acting. There are some uncomfortable paralIels with current UK and it has more to do with Taxi Driver than Batman (I was wearing my Batman however). We also drank red wine during the screening which was nice.
No way religious myself but I was captivated from start to finish. Fantastic acting from two heavyweights and amazing directing.
My favourite film of 2019 by a long shot.
Knives Out. Stan & Ollie. Both excellent.
The marriage storey on Netflix is good.

Watched the "Ipcress file" today, 1st time for ages and what a belter it is.
"Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it's enemy action."
'Populism, the last refuge of a Tory scoundrel'.
The Two Popes. Stunning performance by Pryce and Hopkins. Perhaps the best movie I've seen in 2019.
A 'must-see'.
Jojo Rabbit is brilliant. Far more of a drama than a comedy, but the comedy works to act as a perfect "coping mechanism" of sorts. Superbly done.
My two youngest sons (28 and 23) and I saw Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker this morning. All three of us enjoyed it. On a five-star scale, we would probably score it at three or three and a half. There were several "silly" parts, and dialog that was meant to be humorous, but wasn't. I still can't stand the poor acting of John Boyega ("Finn") despite some improvement. The story was clear and solid, and the director (J.J. Abrams) built the suspense very well. The ending was 'satisfying.'
Although this episode is the finale of the "trilogy of trilogies," will there ever be more Star Wars films? Based on the early box office results, the Force will remain with us!
I saw Rise if Skywalker last night and have to say I really enjoyed it! Of the most recent trilogy, Force Awakens for me remains the best. That recaptured the humour and excitement I got from Star Wars when I first watched as a kid. This didn't quite live up to that, but was a satisfying end to this chapter and a solidly good film in and of itself.
Now I have the final episode of The Mandalorian waiting for me, can't wait to watch that!!!

Just watched Lego movie in 4k. A bit of sensory overload but enjoyable and witty in places. 7/10.

Blinded By The Light (Gurinder Chadha).
Rather late to the party, but I watched The Big Short. Really entertaining, well made film. I enjoyed it more than The Wolf of Wall Street.
I watched Guy Richie's The Gentlemen at the cinema with my wife. There was nothing else suitable except Little Women (bit of a difference!) and luckily I was spared that as my wife already has plans to see it with female relatives!
I enjoyed The Gentlemen. It's slick and funny with a good cast and is unmistakably a Guy Richie gangster film. It's not quite as good as Snatch though, but if you enjoyed that I think you'll enjoy this too.
The wife seemed less impressed due to the violence but even she seemed to fjnd parts of it funny.

Just finished watching Band Of Brothers.
Tough to watch, but very well done.
Watched IT followed by IT 2, not for folks scared of clowns 🤡
Currently watching The Two Popes on Netflix starring Anthony Hopkins. Pretty good.
Saw Uncut Gems today with my wife and son (28). Pretty depressing Sandler character and movie. I thought it was pretty good, but I was 1 of 3.
Secretary of State on Netflix, ( Edit. It’s called Long Shot )didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I did, really funny.
Also True Romance just came on Netflix, haven’t seen it in years, it has aged really well.

Watched Saving Private Ryan last night in UHD and with full Dolby Atmos. Forgotten how good that film is, looked and sounded stunning! The opening landing scene in Dolby Atmos was one of the best soundtracks I have heard, even more immersive than when I saw it in the cinema over 20 years ago.
