Saw Ford V Ferrari yesterday. I really enjoyed the film, the best movie I have seen the last six months, but I do like cars and racing also.

When it comes to watches, Matt Demon was wearing a white chronograph with 2 black subdials, probably this one: https://www.google.com/search?q=hami...QDHd1DNNwYQvM:

It could also be a B premier, but this is more likely to be the one, due to the American origins of the character.

Miles was wearing a black chrono with 3 with subdials, in 3, 6, 9, if I'm not mistaken. This Hamilton also fits the decription: https://www.google.com/search?q=hami...XC_NrTM:&vet=1

But if I'm not mistaken, it also had a black bezel, so probably this is not the one Miles was wearing.

Both watches are shown quite well many times in the movie

Could also be Heuer Carrera and Autavia?

Saw Le Mans 66 on Saturday. Very enjoyable if you don't take it too seriously.

Watched “I am Mother” and “Eli “ on Netflix at the weekend as a family (15 years old upto a 70 years) and all enjoyed.

Also watched The King. The women liked it but I though it was a bit weak.

Saw Clint eastwoods “the mule”. I’m in awe of the man. 90 years old and still a fantastic actor and director .

Went to see Irishman last night. Loved Goodfellas and Casino but this was disappointing. Far far far too long at 3.5 hours. Scorsese indulgence ..... don’t believe the hype

Here's a few of the top of my head:

    Joker (of course)
    The Peanut Butter Falcon
    Earthquake Bird
    Green Book (fantastic)

Saw Stephen King's Doctor Sleep yesterday. Maybe I'm just a bit jaded after watching a few hundred scary movies over my seventy plus years, but I was not impressed. I had no problem carving out a few minutes in the middle to excuse myself for a much-needed bathroom break during the 2:32 screening time. The film wasn't terrible, it just wasn't close to my standards for Stephen King.

I've not seen it and it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's on my 'to see' list:

To be fair most of his horror movies are crappy. I have only ever really liked his dramatic stuff.

My favorites, including made for TV moves, include:

    • The Langoliers
    • The Stand
    • The Shining
    • The Dead Zone
    • Christine
    • Stand By Me
    • The Running Man
    • Misery

King is an incredibly talented writer, but tends to meander off into the ozone layer of unbelievability too often. I can't think of any fiction writer who has been as consistently prolific as Stephen King, including James Patterson, whose output has been 'juiced' for years by employing co-authors.

The green mile and shawshank I’d add to that list!

I watched Le Mans 66 earlier today......I really enjoyed it. No doubt the racing purists will go on about this that and the other not being right but from my point of view it was very watchable and the time flew by.

He has certainly been crazy prolific and I like many of his books. I just don’t think many the ‘horror’ books have translated well into movies.

    Yes recently seen this too.

Bale plays his character really well.

A great movie if you can overlook the Hollywood bits.

Don't know if this has been discussed before, I saw a nice movie from 2009 yesterday with Hilary Swank and Richard Gere called Amelia, related to the life of Amelia Earhart. It has nice shots with the planes etc. Regarding watches, it is clearly shown in one shot that Amelia is wearing a Hamilton field, probably 38mm, with white dial. I'm quite certain that it was quartz (the movement of the seconds hand is shown), something not possible for the time the film reffers to.

I agree, was a very gritty film, almost no dialogue throughout.

I’m half way through ‘Destroyer’ on Netflix, Nicole Kidman plays a burnt out cop looking for revenge on a gangster from a event 16 years earlier when she was undercover, I literally did not recognise her in the first few minutes of the film, it was only the flashback scenes I figured it was her, the make up and ageing applied were astonishing. Her performance in it is unlike anything she’s done before, please give it a watch.
    Cheers..

My wife, our youngest son, and I watched The Irishman on NetFlix last night. Although we enjoyed it, it didn't bowl us over like we expected. It was too long, too short on action, and the main characters are all too old (all well over 75!). Had Scorcese made this 15 years ago, in a tighter, tougher manner, it would have succeeded much better. I asked my 23 year-old son if he had ever seen Goodfellas, and he responded that it was ten times better than The Irishman! I agreed.

I watched The Irishman last night too - completely agree with your summary.

Film is far, far, too long. Indulgently so. Why do so many films these days have such excessive run times!?

On the plus side, the action is done well (when it appears), the story is relatively engaging (it needs to be over 3 and a half hours!), and Pesci is really great in this. Probably worth a watch if you love Scorsese.

The 'de-ageing' is terrible and acted as a huge distraction from me - the film would have been significantly improved by simply casting different actors to play the different ages of each character.

This is on my watch list. I enjoyed 'all is lost' with Robert Redford which had minimal dialogue. I imagine arctic a sort of mix of that and Liam Neesons The grey only better

I just thought there wasn't enough action. Plus, the scene where the 'young' Robert DeNiro beats up the corner grocer was hilarious in that his punches and kicks were so obviously fake!

Joker and Le Mans (Ford vs Ferrari) were 2 of the movies I’ve enjoyed recently. Think the lead actor(s) really played their roles well and both these movies felt short.
