My recent pickup from SC. Love it. Lovely and understated, and oozes class.

The dial offers so many shades and colours.
The sunburst dial here appears slightly more blue, than the green it actually is.

That's a stunner Andrew. I do like some of the colours appearing on Seiko and GS dials 👍

    Thanks my friend.
It is the second time that I’ve owned this LE. This was originally our good friend Ryan’s.
You are right, some great colours now about.

I feel a bit guilty, as I have a 053 too, on bracelet.
I’ll be posting a few more photos, on another thread very shortly.

Lol....yes the correct answer is always both.

Unfortunately it would breach my self imposed rule of no duplicates.

After dipping my toe in the water with a Solar Tuna I thought it was time to upgrade to this beauty.

I can honestly rate this alongside a previous 14060 and Pelagos for quality and sense of special occasion when worn on the wrist!

One of my favourite watches I’ve ever had (May be the fav) My dad has mine now though as he took a shine to it. It’s just such a great size and quality.

SARB063 limited edition of 500 watches released in 2009

The curse of watch hunting, spotted this whilst hunting for the SARB013, couldn't really say no 🙂

Just put my SBDB013 Spring Drive Tuna back on the Geckota black sharkmesh bracelet for the winter. I like the combination, used to do the same on my Darth & Emperor Tunas. Not the easiest watches to change bracelets on - only the Emperor & the 300m quartz ones have drilled lugs, Darth & SpringDrive don’t have that luxury.

That is really nice, didn't know it existed! I really like the layout and hands. Is the case finishing DLC?

Thank you. There were 3 watches in the series released around 2009. The SARB059 has the emeral Green dial and steel bezel, the SARB061 is the same watch with a Black bezel and the SARB063 was the limited edition with a matt Black dial and PVD coating. I think PVD and DLC are basically the same thing or certainly the same idea, to coat with a scratch resistant material. For a 10 year old watch it looks brand new, so the coating clearly works unless the Watch has spent its life in a safe.

I get confused with terminology - I know in G shock land DLC is a significant step up over the standard IP based coating. I assume this is probably somewhere in between.

These watches are closer in terms of philosophy to the Landmaster with a normal bezel compared to internal rotating and more importantly, normal hands!

    Nice one Andrew!

So this is a SARB021 - bought it 10 years ago for my dad but he managed to totally destroy the bracelet and lingered in a draw.

If you think it looks similar to the 033, there are key differences - the crown guard, more blingy markets and hands and a deeper black dial.

Been struggling with finding a combo without spending too much. I think a NATO works really well!

Very nice indeed. These old SARBs are getting harder to get hold of and the prices of the rarer models are continuing to climb as people look to source one.

They’re great Seiko’s these old SARBs and quite a few variants. No crappy branding and just damn well made watches. And visually more interesting than the 033/035 which became the most popular. Shame more recent ones don’t have quite the same charm.

    Coke & Pepsi

Added a Turtle "Coke" and a SKX009J "Pepsi" to the collection.
Pepsi had the blue sapphire upgrade.

    Kind regards, Peter

    Agreed, here's my SAR015. Now if I could track down a SARB013 👍

Two new ones to the fold. Very pleased with them and they are better than expected.
Still considering the new Arnnie reissue. Love my original. But sadly due to age my eyes cannot read the digital display without glasses. So likely to be a pointless purchase.

    Nice!

I have the original bracelet too but I’ve never liked it. Took me ages to find a decent jubilee.

How would you say that these wear compared to something like the SRP "Turtle" re-issues? The SBD models always look fairly small in pictures to me, but according to the measurements they should really be quite beefy?

Never been a fan of the Turtle case shape, so never tried one. I do appear to be in the minority, with no love for that style.
Most of my watches are divers, or big G-shocks, and never considered the SBD line to be remotely small at all.

This watch also has the fascinating bezel, that varies between all shades of green/turquoise/blue depending on the light. Rather splendid.
