I had an M135i prior to the M2 and it was certainly the easier car to commute in with a much softer suspension set up and smooth ZF 8 speeder. Truth be told it wasn't that much slower either.
Where the M2 scores is in the visceral sense of getting in to something properly sorted every time you go for a drive. The dry weather handling is borderline ridiculous, completely flat and planted at cornering speeds which would have seen my M135i on it's roof in a ditch. It is also laughably loud for a factory standard model in sport mode. With the DCT and set in comfort though it will munch the miles very happily and play the motorway cruiser.
I have adjustable M Performance suspension on mine and modest spacers and it sits very aggressively, gratuitous pic to illustrate the stance.
