Welcome to the forum Georg!
It was great to have you onboard, Georg.
Now it's time for a proper introduction thread in Watch Talk, complete with pictures of your collection.

Welcome to the forum Georg!
It is splendid to see you here, Georg!
Mushroom-pushers of the world unite!
Welcome Georg!
Now all together: Like a mushroom, pushed for the very first time... :))
At lake Lugano, in Switzerland
Been a while since there was updated, hoping it hasn't dies off......
I think it is on a long trip to a high place, but I expect Dave will confirm.

Indeed. It's on a (very) extended trip with a fellow who is taking it up a tall hill in Nepal. Hope to have it back end of May.
I must update the website that said.
Fantastic thread.
I wish there was a TV documentary about each journey, sort of quick 15 mins weekly episode. ,

Evening all,
Apologies for the lack of updates on this. I've got a heavily pregnant wife and a rather sick father so I'm not spending as much time on here as I'd like.
The watch was due to reach the top of Everest last month but unfortunately due to what seems to be a really bad year for climbers, it didn't quite get there. I'm hoping he will return next year so finger's crossed we'll still get there!
I should be getting the watch back in a day or so.
You'll also notice that we've passed the original deadline for auctioning off the watch. This was decided with Matthew's families blessing as we've still got a good few adventures to undertake yet!
Dave
Two weeks late but I had the good fortune to be able to take the watch to the Cricket World Cup final. A great day out and the result we hoped for although the route to it took everyone there through the whole spectrum of emotions. Often in seconds.
Before the start:
Who knew WG Grace wore a Seiko?
And just after we won:
Clapped so much the watch rubbed a blister on my wrist (it is a bit big for me).

Thanks guys, I think it suits him quite well.
Missed the opportunity to have it on Darth Vader at the weekend which I'm annoyed about.
Sadly the watch is off on another trip later this week with a forum member. Not sure of its availability in the medium term.

I seem to be running about two weeks behind at the moment but here is the next one.
As I still had the watch two weeks after our trip to the cricket it was able to join us on a family trip to the Capital. As we had family over from overseas to learn English we thought we had to show them London. First stop was the Science Museum to have a look at Moon related stuff.
Dreaming of being a moonwatch.
Some moonrock. I wasn't allowed to cut it in half to see if the word moon went all the way through, so couldn't tell if it was genuine.
Apollo 10. Seriously cool.
And finally something for the horologists. Benjamin Vulliamy's regulator clock made for His Majesty George III, and used in his Observatory at Kew. There were loads of other timepieces in a display nearby but with three children and a wife in tow there would have been loud protestations if I had spent time finding out about them.
After a traditional English picnic, sat in the drizzle, our next stop was the London Eye.
Fortunately the weather had cleared up to give us a pretty decent view of London.
Once we had got down it was a short walk and a long queue for the aquarium. The closest this diver was to get to a reef on this trip.
Finally, after the foot slogging and crowds it was time for a well earned cold beer:
A really good day out, enjoyed by all. We all slept well that night.

Honoured to be the current custodian. It's just arrived with me in Bangkok - will be here a few days, then Chiang Mai, then Myanmar

There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.
Saying hello to Larry.
The TakeTime watch has accompanied me on some errands this week, to a few locations in and around Whitehall. Limited photo opportunities but here's a couple from the FCO.
We also called in at the Tate Modern and a couple of other galleries.
Mondrian's Tribute to the Pepsi Bezel.

A bit dark for a wrist shot but the watch was with me this evening.

A few shots taken whilst exploring Lawrence of Arabia country.
Lawrence's Spring
Have you had any close shaves with the Ottoman constabulary yet?
Youve got me thinking that I need to do some Lawrence-themed travel next time Im in that neck of the woods.
Looks like the watch has had an exciting week or two.
Those photos have me hankering for the desert again.
And also wishing for a spare couple of hours to watch LoA again. Although I think Thesiger was even more interesting than Lawrence
Thanks for sharing.
We've left Lawrence now, and are doing our best to avoid any close shaves...
Catching the sunset at The Amman Citadel last night.
Brilliant idea - i'm very keen to take it for a swirl.
How do we sign up?
One remaining jaunt to report on before the watch heads off to another custodian tomorrow, for new adventures.
Wot?

Did they let you into the staff canteen? In the 90s it was really worth the effort though, I imagine since the refurb, it's probably been sacrificed to microwaved god of efficiency savings.
Sadly the last BBC mechanical clock ident was turned off in the '80s. It would be rather nice if they had left it powered up.
Indeed, it doesn't have a great reputation these days. I settled for a large tub of mixed olives and cheese from Waitrose smuggled in to soften the blow of the Radio Theatre bar prices.
Many thanks once again Matthew. You never fail to chalk up some amazing places!

It's headed somewhere rather more chilly next...
Evening all,
Just had an update on the watch and as you can see, it's become rather well travelled!
It's off to the Antarctic in early Dec courtesy of John who apparently runs marathons in sub-zero temperatures for fun.
We've got a window of about a month then to squeeze in another adventure. Any takers?
Cheers
Dave
I hate to break it to you Dave but you are going to need a new map, the current one doesn't show Antarctica. ;-)
Is the total distance in miles or km? If the former than that's pretty much halfway to the moon! That is a great effort, well done everybody.
39 down, 160 or so to go
Thanks for the update Dave.
