I’ve had a very relaxing Bank Hol today, rounded off nicely with these three belters.
From Falmouth’s Verdant Brewing Co’s core range, Headband Pale Ale is a firm favourite and one I always buy if available.
DEYA Brewing continue to go from strength-to-strength, and Mi Casa Es Tu Casa is one of the best I’ve had. In fact it’s probably the best Orange Pale Ale (India or otherwise) I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a few. A straight 5 on Untappd for me. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel with zesty, juicy fruit all the way through. Wish I’d bought more!
And wrapping up with this Brew By Numbers + Stigbergets 55 Double IPA with Citra and Motueka hops. A strong, boozy nose, followed with a smooth but serious fruity taste. A little bit of hop-burn suggests it’s good for a while yet, might be a shade more rounded-out in a few weeks.
I haven’t tried this yet, but was shopping earlier and spotted this for 89p/500ml bottle in Home Bargains. Bought four bottles to try.

Very nice refreshing beer (or 2) to go with my BBQ!
Seemed appropriate given the cuisine...

I’m currently sitting in the lounge at Orlando airport with a Jai Alai India Pale Ale. I’ve managed a few craft beers on this trip and this is very good.

It rained most of the morning today so I decided to drive over to Verdant Brewing Co in Falmouth to make the most of my investors discount. Picked up three freshies from last weeks canning, a new glass and t-shirt...
The DIPA was wonderful and was preceded by this little number from Vocation, which I picked up in Tesco’s for £1.50!
APA not IPA
Tastes slightly sweet and not as bitter than say brewdog punk ipa but quite refreshing very cold too
The holiday sessions continue...
Bloom, Verdant’s Core IPA, fresh as ever. Exactly as described on the tin!
At just £1.50 from Tesco, a welcome return to a beer I first tried at Craftbeer Rise from Five Points + Lost & Grounded. Fantastically fruity, dry and crisply bitter finish.
A light, refreshing lagered pale ale from Otter, shared with my Dad. You could Session this all afternoon on a hot summer’s day...
A resiny, fruity West Coast Pale Ale from Cloudwater with balanced malt sweetness vs hop bitterness.
And finishing up with another Vocation beer, but a first try. Hoppy, citrusy and very smooth from the oats.
Day out in town with the other half

Been racking up some new ones over the last few days (god bless two week holidays in sunny Cornwall!).
A new IPA - I Saw A Horse At Work - from Verdant...
North Brewing Co, Triple Fruited Gose +Strawberry +Apricot. Delightfully fresh and fruity summer beer...
Another local brew, Lushingtons Pale Ale from Skinners of Truro, went down a treat on a sunny summer’s early eve...
And yet more IPA from Verdant in the shape of Unlike Stars, Mosaic & Galaxy hops to the fore...
An interloper from Yorkshire down South. Vocation Brewing from Hebden Bridge’s Life & Death IPA. Haven’t had this for a while but it’s a welcome return, especially at £1.50 from Tesco!
A Belgian classic Tripel from Duvel. I’m not mad keen on the regular version, but the Citra hopped specials always deliver.
And finally, a delightfully zesty and fresh session IPA, Sennen, again from Skinners.
For the East Anglians amongst us, the Chappell Beer Festival is now on (till Sat), possibly the widest range of beers outside the GBBF. Cheers, John B4
Just having a bite to eat in Korean restaurant
It’s going down well.

Shared another Skinners ale with my Dad this evening...
Another excellent DIPA from DEYA...
Lovely orange blossom and zestiness from this Atlantic Heligan Mandarina...
And finishing up with one of the best U.K. IPA’s money can buy, Jakehead from Wylam...
A couple lined up for this evening . . .

Great minds think alike
The not so warm reception I received on my return home this evening gave an indication that my request to go down the pub to watch the cricket would have been grudgingly given and used as evidence against me in the future. Drinking at home is the better part of valour tonight.

Saying fare thee well to Cornwall for another summer...
And taking a fresh haul home from the brewery...
Enjoying a couple of this beer tonight
Surprisingly malty for a lightish ale. Very nice indeed.

Time for one more I think
Delicious.

No Raven on at the moment, however I had a sneaky ½pint of it’s temporary replacement straight from the cask on Sunday and there it was on tap yesterday, very nice indeed.

This evening, it being a Friday after working a whole 3.5 days it will be bourbon, not quality, but quantity. With the expectation of writing off both Saturday and Sunday.
2 Stiegels here and 2 Pilsner Urquells
I'm starting to lock down Pilsner Urquell as the best beer in my estimation.
A couple of bottles of Greenwich Red Ale and Summit IPA.
"I've been shopping in Marks & Spencer!!"
A super-tart Brewdog OverWorks sour at their Canary Wharf establishment...
And a Five Points Summer Wit at their tap takeover event at The Gun, Docklands. Also had some keg-fresh JUPA and Five Points Pils which were excellent.
Wold Top Marmalade Porter.
And very scrum it is too!
