The Kilcot Inn, near Newent, Gloucestershire.
A lovely pub with great beers, excellent food, beautiful gardens, a childrens' garden/play area and just a 7 or 8 minute walk across a field......................a bit longer on the way back!
As we are all in the George and Dragon, It might be a nice idea to see your local boozer.
Ill kick it off with my local, the Kings Head in Aylesbury.
Cheers!!!

The Cricketers - Littlewick Green, Berkshire
No Sky Sports, no piped music. Live bands sometimes, good food and a nice atmosphere.
Can comment on the beer as I don't drink!
Less than 5 minutes walk from my place. It occasionally features, along with other parts of the village in Midsummer Murders - though they change the name whilst filming.
Fulwood Sports and Social Club overlooking the Mayfield Valley.
Very agreeable tonight.
I'm not putting a picture of mine up until somebody else posts a dodgier looking pub. Which could be a challenge...
.... and accepted.
This is the nearest pub to my home. Staggering distance in fact - which theoretically makes it 'my local'. Not that I ever frequent it.
Apparently it's a Grade 2 listed building. Oops. I hadn't even realized it had closed, till I googled it !

I have been there used to go quite frequently when I was working in Maidenhead. What I remember it was a very pleasant lunchtime venue

I’ve been to that one as well when I worked in Dorcan - they used to frisk you for a knife if you didn’t have one they would give you one!

This one's a couple of miles down the road on the same side of town:
Rumour has it that it was re-named for Melinda Messenger.
I remember it from the '70's when it was originally called the Piccadilly and had one of those multi-coloured flashing under-lit dance floors.
There are some pretty naff pubs in Swindon town. Thankfully there are quite a few nice country pubs around the outskirts.

We’re very lucky judging by some of the others posted:
About 2 hundred yards away, great beer, good food, decent beer garden and the couple that run it are lovely!

I'm going to add an honourable mention for a pub which is around a 5 minute drive away and owned by former Ghurkas, The Roadmaker Inn. It serves Nepalese inspired food that is outstanding
What a great idea for a thread!
Hmm, I used to work in Aylesbury - I'd say there are a very few locations from which the Kings Head might actually be your most local pub; unless you live in Connells the Estate Agents, the Nail Bar or Metro Bank, surely you mean the White Swan?!
Does the little terrier still drink Guinness from an ashtray in the window every day...?
2 minutes gentle stroll for me to the Wheelwright Arms in Hurst, near Reading.
That's a bit tautological.Originally Posted by Lampoc

We could be here all day with brilliant Harrogate pubs though tbf. Worth a visit if you’ve never been chaps.

I live in Ruislip. Great location, great setting, great for schools.
Not great for pubs.
My local, and I can hardly say the words, is a Harvester 😐
Here's mine in Soho... No exterior to speak of as it's in the basement. It's been there for more than 70 years.
No signs outside, no lights. The entrance is through a nondescript black door then you go downstairs to the bar.
Do not go to pubs that often and usually only as a meeting point with friends drinks are overpriced and the standard of food served IMO has gone down would rather both eat and drink at home.
The Commercial. Right next to the train station and less than a five minute walk from my front door. Lovely old building, still has the original "snug" and over a hundred years of local history displayed on the walls. Pool and darts teams, theme nights, trips to the races and a good group of friendly drinkers... Oh hang on... no that was bought out by a "pub developer" and sneakily turned into a much needed (lol) convenience store. Wankers.
Ok then, the Greyhound! Bit smaller than the Comic but still a great pl...hang on. Indian restaurant.
Right, another five minutes walking but the Windmill Forget it - another skid-mark property developer who wanted to "breathe new life" into the place but later decided the land would make a lovely posh housing development.
OK, scraping the barrel now but the Red Lion on Market Street is a good pint with a mixed crowd.
Nope, my mistake, that one is now a "halfway house" with a huge nursing home where the carpark used to sit.
Right. The White Horse. It's a good 20 minute walk but it's big and friendly and they do Budweiser on draught so sod it, I'll park my arse there while it's still in business. It's not cheap, but it doesn't need to be because all the competing pubs have been bloody well closed!!! (and no, it wasn't the smoking ban or BREXIT, they were thriving. It's w**k-stain developers who can't bear to see a plot of land, i.e. a large pub car park, without wanting to build on it). RAAAARGH!
(that feels better)
I didn't say 'most local pub', the White Swan is opposite the Library, no where near me.
Its a 90 seconds walk from door to bar to the KH, even if I have to pass the Queens Head in Temple Square, - Sky sports and Karaoke not really my thing!
Theres a Jack Russel that is always outside the Queens Head, great little dog.

Not the nearest but the best. The Starbank Inn - with an excellent selection of real ales, the food is not bad either.
The main bar has a cracking view of the Forth.
The Craft Beer Shop in Little Chalfont, Bucks.
Capacity 15 people
9-10 craft beers all changed weekly.
No pubs within walking distance as the chap who built our houses was a Quaker and wouldn't allow them.
I remember when I was at my Nan's in London there were pubs on every corner.
All gone now. It's a different way of life.
Cheers,
Neil.
Tuckers Grave, Faulkland, Somerset
Bar area and seating area.
"Giz a gurt big pint of thee best Zummerzet Zider yung'un"

From back in my student days...
It's certainly different.

I was going with my nearest being my local.
But it really is a bad place for a beer.
White Bear is pretty good but more restaurant than pub these days. My beloved Swan is now a Cafe Rouge :(
There was a bar called Sweeny's - now another restaurant.
On the High street there are two bars. The Crock of gold (known locally as the Crock of Shite), and the Hop and Vine which has mismatched cushions and people with trendy beards.
The only shining light is the Woodman but it's up the other end of town.
Funny thing is though, go two miles down the road to Ickenham and you can't bloody move for pubs!
My local (when I do manage to go out) is the Cock Tavern in Swords or if meeting friends who live a little further away we meet 1/2 way and go to Gibney’s in Malahide.
Got other pubs closer to home. But this one is worth the longer walk.
The Fountain Inn Bridgwater.

My local in Brampton. Frequented by Hadrian's Wall followers.
Good beer, in particular Wainwright's and Lancaster Bomber.
Although this is my spiritual "Local" in Cambs.
The Ferryboat Inn, Holywell. Claimant to oldest pub in England
I have tended bar, cleaned, worked in the kitchen, run the cellar (aged 15), helped put out a thatch fire and drunk here over the last 40 years. My parents still live in the village.
If I bought a pub it would be this one.
Pub at the top of my road. Food is good but over priced . Really friendly staff too. Was a hotel years ago, when they used to carry out hangings at the top of my road .
