Just watched it. Wow, what a film! I’ve not been that involved in a film in a long time.
Well worth a look. Phew....

I watched it - totally gripping. Fantastic documentary making and a fascinating insight into North Sea diving - technically but mostly the human side. For once the 'pick of the day' recommendation was spot on.

I watched it again last night and SWMBO joined me, she also thought it excellent.

Ignorance breeds Fear. Fear breeds Hatred. Hatred breeds Ignorance. Break the chain.
Wow, just wow. This made extremely compelling viewing. Beautifully made, honest and quite brutal. I challenge anyone to not take something away from this.
Well recommended watching this if you get the chance.
Watched it last night, one of best things I’ve seen for a while

Thanks for the heads up OP, a good watch.
His diving buddy was quite... errr, blunt!
Thanks for the recommendation, I'll get it on catch up.
From what I understand, that was the whole point. It started off as a 15-20min training video to illustrate what can go wrong, etc, put together by Floating Harbour and Bibby Offshore Ltd called Lifeline:
"Lifeline charts the incredible efforts of his colleagues to get him back to safety. Powerful first-hand accounts and unique footage of the incident throw into sharp focus the value of one human life, at a time when his very existence hangs in the balance. Lifeline demonstrates how safety leadership behaviours, procedures and emergency actions prevented a catastrophic outcome from a severely life-threatening situation."
It was then expanded into a documentary.
Well, yes I was trying to be polite.
When he said the bit about not giving a damn he was out there dying my Mrs just turned to me with her mouth open. I guess he did get him in the end but I did wonder if he could have done more in the first instance, was just total F him, I’m back to the bell.
When the bloke was tearing up about the thought of having to call the guy’s mrs to tell her he’d died, I just said to the mrs.. could have let the blunt bloke do it... “hello, not that I care but your husband died today. Selfish bugger wasted half the day’s work, bye!”
Well, that was powerful stuff indeed. I have a vague recollection of reading about this a little while ago, but the documentary really brings it home. It's left me lost for words tbh.
Surely they should have tried restarting the ships computer way sooner than they did... they called it a last resort but it’s the first thing I do with any technical hitches
Absolutely thrilling and horrific just glad he survived!
Anyone know if this is on again?
It will never download with the internet speed offshore 😂😂
Just watched it & thought it was excellent. I was surprised that they waited over 20 minutes before trying the "switch the computer off & back on again" trick.
I wasn't expecting that. Excellent film. They are mental.
Excellent - watched it this afternoon
Watched it yesterday, amazing & was completely gripped, forgot to fill my wine glass up & even blink at times.
Agree with the comments about his diving buddy, wow.

Every man for himself in a run off, unless there is time to help, but there usually isn't.
Amazing, wasn’t expecting that.
Surprised that there was nothing at all set out about what to do in the event of failure of both DP systems beyond ‘brainstorming’. Big red signs now ‘Reboot in the event of catastrophic failure and act fast’?

Should have phoned the IT Crowd...
Great documentary.
I knew the story, but my wife was stunned into silence at times!

And it’s a big WOW from me too, thanks for the recommendation.
My mate does exactly the same job and it was good to visually see what he describes.
He was following a pipeline once when a large cod following the line swam between his legs at speed. That made him jump, but the sea lion that followed through was a completely different surprise all together!

Thanks from me too. We watched last night and were gripped from start to end.
I must be in the minority. Whilst it was interesting. The flashbacks to his smiling wife were a bit nauseating and unnecessary. The whole thing could have been cleared up in an hour as a documentary rather than a dramatisation. Was interesting how his dive buddy wasn't at the wedding though. Probably a few things that weren't in the programme either that might have explained his buddies opinions....
Just watched this, thought it was excellent.
Ill stick to staying on the bridge 😂😂
Well worth a watch if you haven’t seen it yet.
Watched it last night, gripping stuff.
The attitude of the DPO was pretty disappointing, as if no blame was attributable to him or the bridge team. If they couldn't assume manual control of the vessel and keep on station then they shouldn't have had divers down.
Just my two penneths worth.

Wanted - Damasko DC57
Watched this yesterday after several recommendations - wow, what a film. Brought a tear to my eye when he walked into frame and sat down
