I assure you my intention is not to be pedantic or nit-pick, but the mention of Red Adair brought to mind this old Rolex advert, where his choice* of watch might surprise, in terms of being pretty far from a sports model (*I caveat this because Rolex marketing can be rather disingenuous, so there's every chance the closest it got to a fire was an Adair family BBQ):

As already touched-upon, the point is that Rolex as a brand set their stall out early around water-resistance, accuracy, longevity and every-day, every-man use, and your Oyster Perptual Date is exactly how a Rolex should look, in my opinion: classic, classy, legible, well-used & enduring.
