That looks like a very good deal to me.
About NOS watches. I suspect that one might find a number of them if one investigated drawers, safes, deposit boxes and cupboards of people who use this forum. ;)
Best wishes,
Bob

New Old Stock. Took me far too long to work that one out.
Looks great! I have a deep fondness for old Seikos

I love time capsule NOS watches. Congrats.
Some amazing bargains are still out there :)
It's just a matter of time...
Thanks. Will look to get it sorted. Not too many trusted repairers in my area, one old bloke who seems to make things worse and the usual High Street jewellers who offer to send it off to someone for you. If I am going to send it through the post might as well use Steinhart as sending to them is free.
Well Duncan at Genesis regulated my OVM which arrived running rather poorly. It's now running with quartz accuracy. £50 and very quick turnaround.

Thank you for this. I have just pinged an e-mail to him.
45 quid? You jammy... Well may you wear. Down the years I've snagged a few "NOS" watches and most for little money. To be fair they were oddball models, like early quartz watches from the 70's. That were all more than a bit "of the era" and unfortunate looking for some so that's probably why they didn't sell in the first place. EG
and its brother.
OK a tad weird looking, but I've no taste so there's that... I've never had a NOS of a watch like yours, IE normal and stylish looking.

Banging pickup for £45! Great find!
Really unusual and eye catching. Well done!
I`m always very suspicious about NOS watches, especially if they're relatively expensive. In this case, the Seiko would be cheap in its day so it's conceivable that it got overlooked and not sold. However, in other cases the watch in question has probably been a problem watch back in the day and its been returned because it didn`t run properly, or never got sold because it wasn`t right.
At the very least a NOS watch should be serviced before using it, lubrication to the pallet jewels and balance pivots will almost certainly have dried up.
I`m not knocking NOS watches, but you have to be realistic when buying.
