Absolute garbage from England and just shows the predictions on here of England running away with it were based on fantasy not reality. I said Wales would turn up at home and they have. England just aimlessly hoofing the ball all the time
A very hard but fair game this... Wales showed more attacking ambition.
And that's a great try...

That’s that then
Those two stupid penalties give the Welsh heart, then England just folded
Bugger!!
But well done Wales. Fantastic performance especially in the second half.
Not sure what happended to England - I really don't, but keeping giving the ball away did not help.
Heartbroken

Get in there Wales !!
Six nations blown wide open ...
Wales very street wise - I was worried this may happen. Wales always up their game against England, and England looked one dimensional today.
You beauties! I’m with lots of grumpy England fans now.
In fairness, at 60 mins I had no idea which way it was going, but a very enjoyable game.
I don’t think it’s over yet, Scotland and Ireland won’t be pushovers, and the lack of any bonus points may yet come back to bite us.
Ireland😁

A game of two halves for sure
As a Scottish rugby fan, I'm in the rather odd mindset that Scotland's defeat (and the nature of it) is rather a good thing & will concentrate minds at the SRU.
As soon as the team was announced, I was struck by the thought that Laidlaw & Horne at 9 & 10 was the wrong choice. Townsend chose a super-slow scrum half & a non-specialist stand off, who doesn't kick much, to play against a team that has struggled defending attacking kicks. It's as if there was no video available to analyse! France, however, had done their homework & played the offside line to their advantage & were constantly in Scotland's faces. I'm afraid that Townsend's limitations ('Throw the ball about a lot; be like the Harlem Globetrotters!') become more obvious with every game. He'll survive to the World Cup I expect, but then leave as Scotland, once again, underperform.
As for Wales & England: what an exciting, but error-strewn, game! It came down to Wales' discipline against England's indiscipline. For example, Sinkler may have the attributes of an international rugby player in the bottom 65 inches of his frame, but lacks the 'smarts' in the top three inches.

On the way home this morning someone had draped a sheet over a bridge at Caerleon on which was daubed "You can stick your f**king chariots"

Watched the Ireland vs Italy match today and throughly enjoyed it.
However I am not sure whether Italy really stepped up to the task or Ireland are going backwards and lost their way since last year. Lots of mistakes made.
Whatever the answer is I still think Italy were unlucky not to get a losing bonus point.

With tongue firmly in cheek, I would suggest that with its historical connections, Caerleon may be an appropriate place to make reference to chariots. On a more serious note, I cannot understand such displays of ill manners.
Similarly, I cannot understand why the coaches of the two nations have to resort to the child like comments both before and after the game. I find the latest outburst from Warren Gatland regarding England's perceived inability to win decisive games particularly distasteful - not to mention inaccurate . This may well prove to be counter-productive come the autumn.
Scotland going backwards rapidly under Townsend.
Reminiscent of pre Vern Cotter days.
Scotland have turned the game quite a bit in the second half, but Wales are being refereed out of the game. High tackles? It is a contact sport after all, do we want to make it tag rugby?

I have only seen consistent calls from the ref. It may be a contact sport but there are rules. They have evolved from what they were in my time but they have to be respected

It is the lack of consistency that irks me.
In many ways the rules had to evolve as the players are so much fitter and the hits bigger than in the amateur era. I recall often finishing a game with my back like a zebra from being rucked off the ball by an opponents hooves. Old school loose head prop me.

Good effort by Scotland today, but Wales did just enough again. They will need to do better against Ireland in Ireland, but Wales have got into a good habit of doing just that
England on the other hand were pretty merciless and did more than enough. A joy to watch. In fairness I thought the score flattered England a bit, but still a very good performance with a few exceptions, especially the missed tackle count. Eddie will not be please.
Big Joe did look good, just a shame he didn't play against Wales. Big Joe Vs George North would have been very entertaining.
I think Ireland will turn over France tomorrow, which will set it up nicely for next weekend, especially if they get a BP.
I did think that if England got a BP against Scotland, and Wales won, but didn't, England would be champs on Point difference, but for some reason if a team wins a Grand Slam they get 3 bonus points, which seems a bit random to be honest - simply because one extra bonus point would have done it.
It does however look rather promising for the World Cup, which is the bigger prize.

The bonus points for the grandslam stops a team winning all 5 games but losing the title to a team with 4 bonus point wins and a loss.
Which makes sense on most levels
I get that, but why the 3 bonus points.
If team A, wins 4 games (all with BPs) plus gets a losing bonus on the game they lost, they would have 21 points. (4+1 x 4) + 1 = 21
If the GS wining team, won every game, without a single BP, then they would finish with 20 points, (4 x 5) hence any bonus would only need to be 2 points rather than 3 - which is why I thought it was a bit random.
BTW, I have no issue with a Team winning the GS automatically winning the Championship. As it would be richly deserved.
i do however think that given team's do not play each other home and way ( in some seasons some teams will have 2 home games and 3 way matches), that perhaps a bonus point should be awarded for away wins, and scrap the losing bonus.
Better still revert back to a 5 nations competition, increase the squad size to 30, and have team's play each other home and away. The 5th team could be decided in the previous autumn between the team who finished bottom of the previous competition and the team who were perviously relegated. Be a great money generator for the RFU's.

At the moment the competition plays hell with domestic fixtures, to play home and away fixtures may be a step too far especially for some set ups with a smaller player pool?
Just a thought, partly because I prefer watching internationals/European games to league games. Quality not quantity.
As for the domestic fixtures the answer is easily - reduce them, by reducing the size of the leagues and cup comps. Plus get rid of the end of league championship decider rubbish. The team who is top of the league at the end of the season wins the title. End of.

Got my bet on for 3 home wins this weekend a 6-1 treble.
Sadly I think Wales will edge Ireland and I have a hunch Italy will beat France.
England murdering Scotland is certain.
I'm afraid due to our crippling injury list we have no chance and could well be a cricket score.
We don't have the manpower to lose key players and replace like for like quality.
May not even watch tomorrow as I fear the worst.
Would be nice to see Italy get a much needed shot in the arm and have no preference for Wales v Ireland-both Celtic cousins.
We will watch the game but it might be from the couch and/or over the rim of a glass of a wee goldie.

Would love Italy to beat France - which hopefully would force France RFU to do something about their game.
Wales Vs Ireland - tricky this one. Ireland have the hoodo over Wales recently, its Schmidt's last game, plus an opportunity to spoil Wales big day, just as they ruined England's 2 years ago. Wales are going for the GS, its Gatlands last game at home, etc, etc. So I think it will be close. It could be decided on a penalty or a referees decision. Game of the weekend by far.
England Vs Scotland. I think the Scots will put up an show for about 50 minutes, but England SHOULD be to strong especially in the final 30 minutes. I hope it's not a cricket score, but it could be.
If England do win tomorrow, they will kick themselves for a crappy last 20 minutes against Wales, but will be looking forward to the World Cup.

Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
Watching the Italy/France game, and have decided that Connor O'Shea has the worse job in the world. How they managed to butcher so many opportunities is a mystery. They should have won it with a Bonus point.
On a technical note, I was surprised the ref didn't award a penalty try in the second half given the number of penalities France were conceding inside their own 5 meter area and having a player in the bin.

Yeee Hawww!!!! Well done boys! :-D
Many congratulations to Wales. Their best game of the 6 nations and a very professional performance in tricky conditions. Not a classic, but it's the result that counts.
I thought that the ref might play a part, but had no idea that every point scored would be as a result of penalties. Even the try's scored were as a result of "free plays" resulting from penalties.
Ireland were woeful. It amazing to think that just a few months ago were being talked up as World Cup contentors (having beaten NZ twice) - no chance now. The worse game I have seen Sexton play ever.
Now for England to hopefully bury Scotland and finish on a high. Looks like a good start
