I was also just thinking about holidays, this year I am thinking of taking the family to Bali & Lombok.
Had a really tough end to 2018 and this year things are dragging their heals. So my mind is off to holidays what are people’s plans this year?
I’m already counting down to mine 86 days! This year we are again off to Estartit in Northern Spain. A place that holds a dear place in my heart having got married there and also scattered mums ashes there, this year we are there for our 3 wedding anniversary and also to scatter my dads ashes with mums.
Love this place

2 weeks in August, in a place near the coast, about 50 clicks East of Malaga. Looking forward to it already: Costa Del Sol - here we come!
Haven't even thought of the Summer yet, but off to Zell am See, Austria for skiing this weekend :-)
Morocco (Marrakech and surfing) in the summer, cheaper than the UK that time of year 😎 and Cornwall end of October 😎😎😎
Booked a couple of short breaks rather than one "big" holiday. Badminton Horse Trials for 4 days and then end of June off to Cascais for 5 days, love the place.
Might try to do another break later in the year but will wait and see how the money goes.
Mexico.... Caribbean Coast..... Just over 10 days to go.....
Jamaica or Thailand about the middle of November.....
Benidorm for a week sometime in September....
Regards
V
Off to Thailand at the end of March, then Malaga in May then off to Tenerife in August. Love my holidays😁
Menorca for a week at the end of May with the good lady, daughter and grand daughter.
Mexico (Cancun), Cornwall and somewhere else warm but not yet decided.
I'm going to London for the day for my birthday and Le Mans for the 24-hour race. That's it. Exciting eh?

Gran Canaria end of April then ?
I’m off to Kos, never been there but then again never been on holiday with this new woman Should be fun on both counts.

Supposed to be going to Lisbon for 5 nights next month with the wife but up in the air due to a family bereavement
Naples for 3 nights with a couple of mates in May
Main holiday - Walnut Creek (3 nights), Yosemite (4) and Lake Tahoe (8) in Sept/Oct
Long lads weekend in villamoura, Portugal in June but not thought about the family holiday yet.. having moved from north to south last year the mortgage has increased unfortunately so cash is not so readily available... the new house is lovely though and we’ve settled really well.
Family visit to my cousins in Geneva April
Lads trip to Seville for Fiesta in May
3 weeks in the summer - I can work near my mums in Burgundy France for a bit and we are thinking of going to Corsica from Lyon for a week (not sure where to go though - any tips?)
Week trip to see my sister, niece and nephew in Dubai for a week in October…
Love a holiday!
Trying Center Parcs next week for the first time.
Algarve in June.
HK, Australia and NZ In November.
Last summer the family holiday was to New York and Washington- great, but very full on.
A total change of pace this summer as we cruise to Dublin, then to the Shetlands, then on to the Norwegian fjords for a fortnight.
Hugely looking forward to it.
So clever my foot fell off.
New York in June hopefully, yet to book.
Suggestions welcome.
Out to the Mother in Law's Spanish villa in May half-term for a freeby, 4 day fly/ride motorcycle trip to Corsica with mates in September, Peak District cottage with wife and dog in October half-term, Peak District again just after Boxing Day and staying until the new year - rented a 6 bed house and going with 8 friends and 10 dogs. Looking at either a Fjords or Baltic cruise in August.

We're going to New York on the Queen Mary 2.
It's our first cruise and it's in at the deep end with 7 days in a row at sea! We're taking our 6 year old daughter, and it will either be a wonderful experience that we'll remember fondly for years to come, or a terrible bore that we'll remember fondly for years to come.
Flamborough, Staithes, Robin Hood's bay, Runswick Bay, Whitby.

Any tips on the best areas to stay in Corsica…. Family of 5 (teenagers)
A big year of travel planned this year - Whitby, York, Brighton, Toronto, Montenegro, Lancaster, Australia x 2, Ironbridge, Valencia and finally, still to decide on where to go for my 50th. Decisions......
If only every year was so packed, my wife and I are definitely part gypsy!
Have a summer trip to Germany planned. Fly into Berlin for a day then pick up a 992 Cabrio and drive down to Lake Constance. From there we drive the Alpine Strasse finishing with a visit to the Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaden. Then drive back up to to Berlin for a week.
Cant wait.
Along with that there are several mini trips planned to watch Hertha BSC throughout the year. I reckon its be cheaper to live in Germany to come home for work!
3 weeks in Asia, fly into KL and out of Hanoi.
Plans not final yet but probably some time in Malacca, Angkor Wat, siem reap, Hoi an, a cruise in hailon bay and a night or two in Hanoi. Any tips appreciated.
First though I am off to Greece to climb a 2700m mountain, in the snow whilst dodging the bears and wolves (ok, slightly apprehensive)
Then 3 X long weekends of backpacking/wild camping in the Brecons or lakes. I think the longest will be a 6 day hike.
And I am racing from in the final of the Brompton world championship in London in August. I will be lapped many times but it should be fun. I need to get an outfit arranged as it's formal dress only.
Now I write it down, it sounds exhausting! Should be fun though.

Disney Florida, followed by the Disney Cruise in 6 weeks.
Belgium & France (Ypres & Amiens) end of next week for 5 days (wife & I only), Centre Parks (Suffolk) in May - family trip with son + carers, Calvert Trust Kielder Forest (specialist adventure Holiday for our son) in August and another short break for my wife & I towards the end of the year (thinking St Petersburg having enjoyed the similar Imperial sights of Vienna last year). Plus the holiday lodge in the lakes now and again.
In Sri Lanka at the minute, not sure what’s next

Nothing booked as yet however one home (within the UK/Ireland) and one away short haul somewhere in Europe is the aim. I thoroughly enjoyed a road trip around part of Ireland last year, I wouldn't say no to that again, and getting back out to Hong Kong is an outside possibility.
Porto Vecchio looked very nice last year when we were there and if I were going to go there with my wife I’d definitely stay there but the 4 of us stayed in a real cheap flea-pit as we were basically out on the bikes all day.
And don’t rule out flying there on Air Corsica. I paid £98 return scheduled flight at the end of August with full luggage allowance.

A week in Gdansk last month and away to Tallinn for a week next Monday. Hopefully a few more trips to Poland and the Baltic States throughout the year. I’m not bothered with sunshine and nowadays I don’t like travelling by plane anywhere more than three hours away. Also thinking of a week back in Middlesbrough later this year. (See my staunch defence of it in the Crap towns thread).
I'll be taking my youngest for a trip to the Normandy Beaches this summer. We both are interested in history. Perhaps on the way back, a shortstop in Nieuwpoort, Ypres, or the Brick Cross in Flandres near the Yzer. Going for a week sailing (instructing new & fresh sailors) is also on my mind.
And then there are quite a few long weekends spotted in Europe for Laser sailing Regattas... Hyères, Garda, Kalamaki (Athens), Poland, Rosas. Just to name a few. We're not going to the World Championship in Kingston (Canada). Simply because the committee there has put a very, very hefty price tag on everything. Madness. E.g.: Two weeks Laser charter (you don't bring your own from Europe) will cost us about 50% of buying a brand new one!
Perhaps at the end of the year, we'll be off to Florida again, but that depends on what the boys (then 16 and 18) want to do.
Menno
We're struggling to decide this year. In January I had a fairly firm view we'd spend a week in a vineyard in the southern Bek'aa valley but SWMBO seems to be keener on northern Spain. If it does end up being the latter I wonder what my chances are of turning that into a bit of the Camino?
Of to Amsterdam at the end of March, 11th time and counting..

I've got Italy by train, sailing in Croatia and driving through Costa Rica planned for this year.
For jmitch: went to Siem Reap last year (stayed with friends), but make sure you take time to see the other temples, not just Angkor Wat. Bayon is good and Ta Prohm has not yet been fully reclaimed from the jungle so quite spooky. Worthwhile taking an official guide, we got much more out of it. Also had a day trip out to Phnom Kulen - nature reserve, stunning waterfall (for a swim), and a big reclining Buddha.
Yay!

The traveling the length of Vietnam and then in to Cambodia for us.
Looking forward to it.
Three times three weeks to our place in Bitez (near Bodrum) Turkey this year. A few days in Budapest, Christmas present from son, in May, and end June/early July to Romania for European Duathlon Championships. So actually compared to most years, a fairly quiet one.
A long weekend in Dunwich
About 10 days touring Newfoundland followed by similar in Nova Scotia. Leaving Audley Travel to sort it out re. flights, car hire + acc. Too much hassle tying it all up.
