Mean Streets.
I've enjoyed all of Ricardo Darin's films, especially Nine Queens. Great twist.
Stan & Ollie... excellent film. Perfect casting and spot on acting all round. Most enjoyable.
Managed to tick a few off my watch list this week ...
Stan & Ollie
The Disaster Artist
The Darkest Hour
All excellent

Watched "Sicario 2" recently.
Just as gritty as the first one... liked it a lot.
Atomic blonde
Atomic Blonde is much more substantial than the title and previews imply. Charlize Theron gives a great performance and her epic seven-minute continuous "stairwell" fight scene using a single camera is drop-dead over the top! Closer to an intricate James Bond film than a typical Hollywood action movie.
I Give It A Year
Love Actually meets The Inbetweeners... very ribald Brit humour and utterly hilarious. Great cast too
Watched The Last Movie Star starring Burt Reynolds. Superb all round and quite moving if I'm honest.
I can also recommend Mary,Queen of Scots. It's a couple of hours long but I found it went quite quickly which is always a good sign.
Anyone else watched Glass yet ? I was a bit disappointed to be honest as I was really looking forward to it.
I don't often watch Bollywood films, but saw Andhadhun ("to blindly follow") on Netflix the other day. Well worth a try, even for those who aren't into Bollywood.
It's about a blind guy who "witnesses" a murder.
BTW if you do watch it, the first 10/15 mins are pretty bad, but it gets better!
Peppermint
Don't be put off by the reviews
Just watched it. Enjoyed every minute.
Watched IO on Netflix tonight - thought it was quite good.
I really enjoyed ‘Mandy’. But to appreciate it, it helps to read this quote from the director about his previous film:
It’s essentially a loving homage to a 1983 video nasty aesthetic that may or may not ever have existed in reality. It also sounds amazing on a Dolby Atmos system, and is currently £2.99 to buy on iTunes, though mysteriously £4.49 to rent! When we moved to Victoria it was the first time I'd been in a video store. I loved going in but my parents wouldn't let me watch the R-rated movies. So I'd just read the back of the box and imagine what it was like. It was at that point I really fell in love with the idea of the imagined movie - a movie that only exists in my head.

Just watched Lion, on my daughters recommendation. Fantastic film based on a true story and a real tear jerker, highly recommended.
Just watched Isle of Dogs, wow that was tedious. Fantastic animation and style but no substance. Would have made a good short.
Son of Saul
The horror of Auschwitz, so a very hard watch.
But a cinematic masterpiece, not surprised it got the 2015 Oscar for Foreign Language. Currently up on iPlayer:

We just watched Roma on Netflix.
I was hesitant, but its compelling. Beautifully made.
Green Book. Wonderful, a really entertaining couple of hours, great performances from perfectly cast actors.
'The Ballad of Buster Scroggs' by the Coen brothers is a joy from start to finish. A compilation of 6 western stories told intriguingly and all seem to be the 'right' length. 8.5/10
The Favourite.....very different, very watchable!!
"Polar" with Mads Mikkelson and Matt Lucas is entertaining.
Eddie
Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Watched 2 yesterday
Leisure seekers weepy drama comedy
A quiet place. Scary horror
Watched Christine on the horror channel last night. Absolute classic.
Watched Spy Game (again) today. Superb film and a great sound track.
Managed to find the soundtrack on CD. Love the music and very well recorded. Makes an excellent test CD for my sound system.

If you are a fan of Nicole Kidman, her performance in Destroyer is the finest, most layered portrayal of her career. The film itself is very difficult to follow (best to read a review or two before seeing it) but it really is a work of art. Kidman was VERY obviously overlooked in her Academy Award nomination snub.
Watched 'The autopsy of Jane Doe' last night on Netflix. Good film for those who like their horror movies
The Wife..... Glenn Close!! Thoroughly enjoyed this one....
Just watched ‘The Big Short’ on Prime, astonishing film about the sub prime crash a decade ago in the USA.
Really enjoyed it, but it’s a bit scary how nothing much has changed.
Cheers..

On the same subject...Margin Call. Very well done.
Watched Juan de los Muertos yesterday which was very good. A zombie film set in Cuba with a clever mix of humour and satire.
Today we had the pleasure of watching Bill. The film was based on a young William Shakespeare heading to London to make his name. The cast was made up of the same team responsible for Horrible Histories children's educational show. The humour was great, very Pythonesque but minus the really daft stuff. Well worth 90 minutes of our time.
A quiet place. Pretty good tension builder. Acting without talking from Emily blunt playing one among a family being hunted by sound hunting monsters. Quiet a few jump scares and in a different manner to those jump scares found in other horrors ie the nun, conjuring, the ring etc

Accident Man is a mockney geezer "I'm gonna kill ya, ya slag" type of action movie. It doesn't take itself too seriously, which is its saving grace, and there are lots of inventive fight scenes (not the calibre of The Night Comes For Us, but still very entertaining).
‘Vice’ is about as fun as a film about Dick Cheney could realistically be. It’s also the worst advert for Rolex imaginable.
This won't appeal to all but just watched An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn on Netflix.
If you like Napoleon Dynamite, its a similar type of production and characters.
I really enjoyed it. Daft, weird, no need for it but just funny. I am a big fan of a few of the people in it (Jermaine Clement and Matt Berry)
Just watched 'Can you ever forgive me' - great film.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
