It looks like a fake from Tunisa.
I see Omega have yet another limited edition out. This time partnered with Hodinkee.
I put one straight in cart hoping to score an immediate profit... then swiftly removed it lolz
https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/om...imited-edition
$6500
I reckon being limited to 500 pieces it will sell out quickly, so there probably isnt a whole lot of time to evaluate whether you like it or not.. The drawback being that it must be paid upfront in USD.. They didnt specify where the watches will be shipped from, hopefully not from US (as that would increase the cost by ±20% for VAT)
I like the case, never liked the twisted lugs on speedmasters.
Looks well to me basing on what it’s inspired by & with a nicer case.
I clicked on the link and immediately assumed that it was April 1st. I once had a hankering for an MK40 but I suppose it's just as well that I'm over it as I assume they're soon to be unobtainable for sensible money.
39mm case ..it's a bit small for five grand!
and gone in a flash
Waitinglist now, so has it sold out?
It's not my thing at all. Reminds me of those colourful, relatively cheap but quality Tissots of years gone by and not a 6.5k Speedy...
I really like it, but then I've just had my meds.
Lego don’t build watches - but if they did...
Seriously though it’s like they tried to get as garish a colour combo as possible. Looks a shambles to me.
Article on HODINKEE mentioned it will be sold at omega boutiques too.

Getting silly, if it wasn't already. I read these reviews of limited edition Omegas and say to myself, stop it, just stop it right now.
Made me look up the Mk40 - I'd never heard of it before - Nice watch!

Cut away numerals, no no.
The size is the best part about it! I`m dead against the current trend for large watches, this size is perfectly adequate unless you're built like a gorilla. Maybe the watch producers will wake up to the fact that they're excluding potential customers because the watches are too damned big.
Generally I don`t like limited editions, and I`m not a fan of the 'Hodinkee culture', but against all odds I really like this watch. Not sure I lie the price, I definitely wouldn't pay this sort of money for it.

For once a limited edition speedie I don't like! Rejoice.

Awful, too many colours and hate the numbers.
Pretty much the only good thing is the 39mm case, the rest is comedic.
I'm sure i've seen similar looking watches on Alibaba before.
Getting a bit silly now with all these LEs
I think it’s a dog, and low effort at that. CK2998 is a great watch, but this is quite a gimmick to me. There again, they aren’t going to be able to recoup the development costs of what I would consider a true homage to the MK40, so hey-ho.
On the plus side an LE, if you like it, is quite a package to have.

Reminds me of a schumacher speed master reduced. E.g.35205300

There is a circular logic at play here that defies my ability to reason it.
The Mk 40 was one of the series of Speedmasters that was made with an all-the-bells-and-whistles 7750 because they wanted complication and the automatic bit and the extra month/day/date and 24hr features couldn't be grafted onto the Lemania movement.
The features were so crowded that new colours, a hand and a quadrant design were needed to make sense of the dial.
And then this LE uses the original Lemania movement in all its simplicity, but proceeds to graft the Mk40s aesthetic onto it, even though it is missing the features that the Mk 40 needed all that colour and noise to achieve.
Looks like a dog's breakfast to me, especially that chrono-second hand, which is the illegitimate lovechild of the Mk40's date pointer and the chrono-second hand. A red hand with a yellow tip. It's cringeworthy in its naivety,
Dave
Yuck, don’t like it one bit.
I won't be ordering one, but I do think it looks cool
Oh dear.
Just NO! I gravitate to Omega and own more of its watches than any other make. This will never appear in my watch box.
And apparently Seiko do too many limited editions
At least I like most of theirs

From OF just now -
To any and all that missed the surprise release of Hodinkee's 10th Anniversary Speedmaster CK2998 limited edition 500 pieces this morning then be aware that between 10am EDT today and now Hodinkee has sold out of their 250 watch allocation and omega has sold about 67 out of 250 as of this writing and now the west coast boutiques will start taking orders so we anticipate it to sell out by 3pm. For anyone that wants one please contact me at the Westchester Boutique in White Plains NY at 914-682-5109 and ask for Eli. The price is $6500 plus tax and we need a full deposit of $6500 to guarantee getting one. Anticipated delivery is mid November. This watch is not being sold to AD's and will absolutely not make it to he grey market...it is exclusive to Omega Boutiques.
Confused.. So only US boutiques are the ones selling it or do also EU boutiques have these? If so, whats the EU price?
I have only been interested in watches a short while but even I am finding Omega tedious beyond belief with their continual stream of limited edition watches. It's simply a case of "I have an Omega in a different colour to you". This LE is simply hideous.
FFS is that double hand over the blue and black subdial?
Seriously the worst looking omega I’ve seen - being honest
Like it.
Reminiscent of the original Zenith Rainbow dial. A little bit.
I'm a bit confused now. Anyone else zoomed in to look at the finish on this? Chrono hour hand doesn't seem centered, the blue/black on running seconds is not straight, and the black to white transition is less than perfect. I'd expect a lot better given the price point.

I’ll stick to my traditional speedy thanks! :)

I do like my Omegas - but that stinks.
You know, I kinda like it. Always admired the Mk40 from a distance, but I think someone further up probably summed it up. All those colours were used to identify different functions, now they're just decorative...
An easy pass.
I recently saw a fake that a mate picked up at a Greek market, it was horrible with the biggest giveaway being
the manufacturer being spelt Omegaa.
Luckily he was stupid enough to pay 15 euros for it.
Fools and their money are easily parted.
Nay thrice Nay.
Colours just look odd. It's a no from me

I don't want Eddie to ban me, so I choose not to give my opinion on the Omega LTD. tactics.
I think the watch in itself is ugly.
Yes, after further reading I believe it's more correctly a speedmaster day date, aka mk40

Though this post has an interesting piece of advertising, assuming it's not photoshopped!

But yes, don't like this one. Some of the previous collaborations have been quite nice.

I like it, but not even at half that price enough to buy it. I agree Omega is tedious beyond belief with all their LEs, but they sell, so what do I know.
Further down the page is the Ryder cup Aqua Terra, I’m liking that very much.
