It did happen last week when ´you´ won.
Was rather typical on the twin square last night. The Brits en masse telling all within ear range of loud shouting that they needed the win for their national pride.
By Jove, ´national pride´.... The English national pride lies at the root of a national delusion causing a really disturbing national mentality. The Brexit campaign, majority vote and sequal has illustrated the severity of it. And yes I feel compassion for the also large part of the population that cannot identify with it.
So; no, I do NOT hate all things British. I do loathe the deranged part of the English/Brit national pride. You won that fair and square.
I’ll be interested to watch the ENGLAND and BELGIUM first teams play. The group game was a non event
Oh goody, just had my first gloating Scot.
Won't matter either. It's the most meaningless game in football. Having said that, I enjoyed the Uruguay one from 2010.
They got so much further than I expected and I think they played out of their skin throughout and with impressive discipline. They could have done with a tougher test earlier in the tournament I feel but that's nothing that could be influenced. Definitely an effort that warrants pride.
third place maybe a non event as well. Not sur if I am bothered either
I don't think finishing is the issue. England were scarily good at sticking a dead ball in the back of the net and the "love train" thing worked a treat for corners (surely people will expect that from them now and will figure how to defend it?). They just didn't do enough to create real scoring opportunities during open play. The old habits of trying to protect a lead bit them on the bum both last night and in the Columbia game. And I think our recognition of Pickford being a stand out would suggest the defence weren't really good enough to be relied on for that approach.
Can't take anything away from England and it's not fair to say they had the easiest route. The overall standard from all teams was quite poor this world cup, it seems club football is now so full of positional specialists than any nation struggles to put a complete team together. England probably had one of the most evenly talented teams.

One thing I noticed is that Croatia were pressuring our players. Every time someone got the ball, there was a Croation player running full pelt at him. This was especially true for Pickford, and it seemed to affect him. In previous games, his long kicks up the field have found an England player. Last night, he hardly seemed to manage it all all.
Anyone bothering to watch the game that no one wants to play in?
Lindsay Skoll will be bothering to watch.
I'll leave it here without a comment

Unless you have money on Lukaku to win the Golden Boot, I don't know how long the rules have been in place but he could win the Golden Boot even though Belgium have been knocked out.
I had a bet with Corals that D.Villa to would be the top goal scorer (8/1) in 2010 World Cup, D.Forlan scored in the 3rd place game meaning he scored 5 goals drawing level with T.Muller, W.Sneijder and D.Villa, Corals did not paid out at 8/1 but at quarter the odds as there was a 4 way tie.
Also I remember in 1998 Davor Suker winning the Golden Boot thanks to him scoring in the 3rd place game meaning he finished above G.Batistuta and C.Vieri who had scored 5 goals each.
The moron down the road has just finished kicking his ball against the garage door.
Must be time for a quiet afternoon nap methinks.

Kane has been shocking for the past couple of games. He's making Sterling look deadly by comparison. At least Spurs don't have to worry about a big team coming in for him
Trippier has been excellent. The quality of the crosses and free kicks has been fantastic
Game over.
Feel a bit for Belgium. They should have been finalists I think
Well that is it for us and must say they did a lot better than anybody thought they would at the start of the campaign of course a work in progress but let’s hope they get to develop in the EPL and we do not let team loyalty to hold them back as a CFC supporter are you listening new manager RLC needs to be back
Confirms to me that as usual people get carried away saying how good England are and the fact is they are not at the top level as those three losses confirm, although they have certainly played far better than I can remember in a long time, it is a shame for Belgium as I really felt they could have won it and Harry Kane has really faded in this tournament missing chances that other top class strikers would have buried.
I think we did well. Could it be better, sure, still it's a good result and certainly an experience for the young team. Well done to all involved, bar the muppets who scared away fans and denied the lads proper support they totally deserve.

Ok. I’m not one to get over excited either positive or negative here is my thoughts. Haters hate, constructive opinions welcome!
Pickford - cracking tournament, inexperienced yet mostly commanding. No fault for any goals! Certainly one to watch.
Walker - done ok. Let’s face it he is out of position done well been caught on some of the aspects a true central defender wouldn’t of been. He is a wing back.
Stones - solid, will certainly improve, working with Man City and pep can only be good for England. A certain top defender at the euros.
Maguire - wow! A true inspiration, no big club Charlie, a solid effective defender with a great eye in the box for attacking set pieces. Will continue to grow at this level.
Young - started tournament well had some great moments but I can’t help feeling against Croatia he was one of Southgates few errors. He starting tiring and stopped pushing forward. Once that happened Croatia pushed forward and started to get on top. He should of been withdrawn before the goals.
Trippier - great tournament set pieces excellent and all round play great. One of our massive positives.
Henderson - not a fan at all. Yet he has played well and been a crucial part of the system employed. Has proved me wrong and been a quality addition to the team.
Lingard - one of the best players we had. Scored our goal of the tournament, a constant threat and a very good player.
Alli - flattered to deceive in my opinion. Scored a crucial goal but I feel was not of the standard he could be at. Or has been at for spurs. Still though a crucial player.
Sterling - confused, top top player. Against Sweden and Croatia his pace and running scared them to death. Yet no goals. For city he is top and his goals come. Maybe sterling himself is right. He can have too much time to finish a ball.. massive player for us. And even a tournament winning player if we get him scoring.
Kane - fantastic, golden boot surely. Must of tired massively or picked up a knock. As did slow. Not a word to say against him. And some of the team tiring didn’t help as he had to come too deep.
Others
Rashford - love him. Quality needs more chances in team. Will be crucial in future.
Rose - ok. But only ok. Won’t be there again if sessegnon comes through as expected this season.
Loftus-cheek - top player and one unfortunately who could fail miserably if he doesn’t put football first and leave Chelsea and grab a regular starting place at a top level club in England/Spain/Italy/Germany.
Massively positive on the manager and I was one not convinced on him. All round a great leader and one I hope leads us a long time!

Cool, Umbjahh.
Someone who lies about the little things will lie about the big things too.
Who's on first?
Not to be confused with Venice Whaler
From watching, it's pretty obvious that England don't really have a balanced midfield, all good individual players, but no real balance, or leader. Kane as your only front man doesn't help either, as shown when he's not playing well, the chances dry up, he is a great striker, but very one dimensional, the likes of Vardy offer a little more, but of course, isn't as clinical as Kane.
If England are to progress, they need to find the next Gerrard/Lampard/Beckham who can lead the team from the centre, having the striker as your captain isn't a great idea, for me a captain has to be able to see all that is going on and influence change, Kane is too far up the pitch for that.
We need a proper playmaker in a quarterback role instead of Henderson who is limited and just really defensive cover. Add Scholes to your list of examples.
Trouble is I'm struggling to think of any current English players that fit the mould. Shelvey can ping the ball around but is light on defensive duties and a total hothead.
Maybe a fully fit Wilshere. If that can happen?
