Watched “same kind of different as me” last night. Not the usual film I’d watch but it was really good.

Watched Freefire by Ben Wheatley last night. Really enjoyed it, basically a shoot out in one room for the whole film. Sounds daft I know, but very good. Also shows how difficult it is to accurately hit anything smaller than a barn door with a handgun. Recommended.

Another for Deadpool 2, lots of action, comedy (easter eggs) and 80's music!!!
Remember to stay for more laughs during the end credits and the ending song .
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME on "Hereditary." A few scares, but overall DOA!
I've become tired of modern films, all special effects, improbable action and little - if any - plot. So I've now started collecting classics. My latest was Citizen Kane, a truly fabulous film.
Best Regards - Peter
I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.
Black Panther. What’s all the hoopla about? A bit so what innit?
I saw Baby Driver recently. Super slick and I can’t stop listening to the soundtrack on Spotify. Edgar Wright is a treasure to cinema.
I rewatched punch Drunk Love over the weekend
Possibly the only good Adam Sandler movie
Perhaps a little premature, but I am hopeful i'll be saying "Sicario 2" here n the very near future :)
Sicario - Day of the Soldado. Pretty good, although not as original as the first one still scary with lots of tension. There is a strange and unnecessary plot twist at the end that seemed to serve no other purpose than to leave the door open for Sicario 3.
A man called Ove. Excellent.
I saw this last week, I agree with you about it maybe not being as original as the first one (which I wasn't a huge fan of) but I felt it was a better movie overall and I definitely enjoyed it more - possibly because of the tension as you mentioned. The end was a bit of a cop out I thought.
“Calibre”
A Scottish movie about a hunting trip that goes wrong
Quite a tense film
Watched Kill Bill volumes 1 & 2 back-to-back the other night. Always time well spent.

Barry Keoghan is fantastic in "The Killing of a Sacred Deer" with Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman. Plus there's amusing watch talk.
I, too, saw Sicario: Day of the Soldato. I really enjoyed it - - as much as Sicario 1! The story was well-plotted, excellent performances by del Toro and Brolin, and the action and 'violence' were first-rate.
I watched Paul Newman’s The hustler . Excellent acting and moody film . I enjoyed Rod Steiger in Al Capone . It was as if he done Don Corleone before it was done .

The Imitation Game with Benedict Cumberbatch and Kiera Knightley. Perhaps historically not always true, but certainly a good film with different layers telling another story as well (no spoilers). I scooped it off iMovies - give it a try.

Watched a few horror flicks this weekend. First up was ‘A Quiet Place’ on Sky (saw it in cinema a couple of months ago).Excellent film, not that scary though if not on the big screen. Then saw ‘Hereditary’ in cinema. Scary but not the ‘scariest film of all time’ that some of the reviews are saying. And just now finished watching ‘Veronica’, the Spanish language horror flick. Feck me with a feck stick that was intensely scary as hell - seriously nasty. Great film but for goodness sakes don’t watch it alone!

I completely enjoyed the Tonya Harding film I, Tonya
"a bleakly hilarious tale of absolute unrepentance" as Peter Bradshaw described it.
We watched the original "Alien" last night and it's impressive how a 40 year old film stands up today. Watched "Rocky IV" yesterday afternoon, Stallone was super fit back then.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Watched the remake of 'murder on the orient express'. V impressed. Casting perfect, sets awesome, camera work v effective and a real heavyweight performance by Branagh. 8/10. Very underrated by reviewers IMO.
Saw the new Mission Impossible recently, which was really rather excellent. Also, finally got round to watching Death of Stalin last night. Brilliant
Whiplash. What a great film!
I saw Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman today based on a preview I had seen and outstanding Rotten Tomatoes review scores.
It was excellent! I've never been a Spike Lee fan, but this effort was really good, and seemed pretty even-handed (surprisingly!). Based on a true story.
Enjoyed Den of Thieves last night. Gerard Butler helps it along, and the ending is different.
Like Father, Like Son
Japanese film about two sets of polar opposite parents being told their kids were swapped at birth; sounds like a barrel of laughs huh, but it’s very engaging and a moving observation of class and society.
I watched the film ‘Spitfire’ recently. It’s a great history of the iconic aircraft with some great interviews and stunning cinematography.
Thoroughly enjoyed 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing...'
Very funny in quite a dark, dry witted way. It made a really nice change from most of the run of the mill Hollywood stuff that is churned out nowadays, maybe because Film4 were involved.
One to avoid: Lady Bird.
It gets great reviews, but for me it was 2 hrs of my life wasted. Maybe it is more of a chick-flick, but my wife also thought it was utter dross.
Enjoyed 13 Hours last night, true account great action film
Watched Hereditary last night, real triply horror movie. Well worth a watch, not at all what I expected and left me feeling very uneasy.

We watched the Jeremy Renner film "Wind River" last night. Really good slow burner with a very satisfying final half hour , highly recommended.
Cheers

Operation Odessa on Netflix
A documentary about drug dealers/ murderers/ undercover FBI in Miami, Russia, Cuba and Colombia in the 90's. Total insanity, buying Russian military vehicles and transporting them to Colombia for smuggling. When they ask about buying a submarine they are asked how many and if they want the missiles as well
Fantastic stuff

‘Shot caller’ on NowTV was pretty good, very gritty prison drama.
Cheers..

Went to see Blackkklansman this afternoon. I'm not a big fan of Spike Lee and found it fairly formulaic. The most surprising thing was hearing Emerson, Lake and Palmer's 'Lucky Man' on the soundtrack, among all the soul stuff.
