Taxi should ‘only’ be £50
Evening chaps.
I’ve a BA flight to Florida coming up soon that involves getting from Heathrow to Gatwick.
I used to do this a lot when working in the Sahara but as I always had an overnight, I just took the National Express.
This time I’m due into LHR at 09.30 and need to check in again (I think) at LGW by 11.25.
I’m sure a few of you have done this, so any recommendations of who to use (and maybe who to avoid too...)?
Cheers,
Adam.

I find NE between airports is excellent service.
that is a tight schedule though!
Yes, too tight for the bus.
I could get a taxi but had thought there’d be some folks using the many companies that are advertising as direct transfers....
Cheers,
Adam

I would say you are not going to make that one.
Even if it arrives on time it takes a minimum 30mins from landing to airport exit if walkway is ready, no queues at passport control etc (assuming no checked bags, if you have checked bags they will certainly not make it). Min 45mins if you have bags to pick up.
Then 30-45 mins to drive round with a taxi pick up.
Then 15-30mins getting through customs (assuming you are already checked in) and running to the gate.
Really struggle to see how you can be there for boarding unless you have some VIP/guaranteed transfer that the airline will put on for you (assuming both flights are the same airline) or you have one in a million shot where everything just works.
The first flight is an internal one so won’t need to clear customs.
The second flight is at 13.25 so may get away with slightly later than 11.25.
BA said it would be OK but I’m starting to worry now....

Ive used Great Britain cars, or at least their drivers these days - they are much cheaper than grabbing a cab at the airport, and I’ve no idea how to use Uber.
Ive made flights with little time, but not by choice.
It's just a matter of time...
Had to do this a few times due to unrealistic BA flight times. I would be really concerned that you will not have time to get across and checked in etc.
You’ll do well to make that connection it’s extremely tight, especially at that time in the morning
I wouldn’t chance it to be honest. Give BA a call and see if they can shift you onto a later flight
These flights are on a Saturday morning, how’s the M25 at the weekends?

With zero delay it’s 45 mins door to door, I’d allow at least a hour transfer time if using a cab, add in airport transfer times and I’d say it’s do able but tight.
I think that you should be okay with four hours between flights, particularly coming in on a domestic at the weekend. Taxi to be safe but even NE ought to manage it.
Thanks again all.
As it’s a holiday and we’ve got things booked on the first day after we are due to arrive , I’ve decided to change things.
We’re now flying down to LHR on Friday evening and getting the NEx round to the Hilton at Gatwick South (what I used to do for work), which should leave us a fairly stress free morning on Saturday....

BA should always leave 4hr connection time for these sorts of tickets (minimum connection time LHR-LGW). It was tight for you especially as a missed connect could have a big knock on. Overnight sounds much more relaxing.
For future reference, BA Transfers is a good taxi service between the 2 airports. Reasonably priced and reliable. They have no affiliation to BA beyond their name. I used to use them reasonably often.

OR check with any hire car companies sometimes they do cheap deals for returning / delivering cars inter-airport.... sometimes you pay more of course but at least you're in control - though I'd think a well clued up local taxi guy/gal would know the traffic that day - plus stress to them how tight it is and slip him an extra tip if they makes it...
Smart move Stoney. Have a great holiday!
Something like Zipcar would be perfect but for now only offer one-way trips to heathrow T5 - (apart from their special blue zone in central london)
