I can tell by this thread people really love their Grand Seiko watches, I'm going to have to get one.
Previously, I have owned two Grand Seikos - SBGX061 and 063. Beautiful watches, but I felt the case shape to be a bit off. Currently, I own this:
SBGV009, perhaps the most beautiful watch I have ever owned. Very comfortable on the wrist, too!

Seems 2 is the right number of GS to own. Damn. Gonna have to find another now.....

Well, I was selling my 253, but events got in the way, so now it is staying. Handsome watch.
Actually, my 'selling' campaign has been a spectacular failure.
Sold, nil. But bought one. A GS quartz.
It's like the old BBC joke. The corporations version of 'musical chairs' is that every time the music stops you add a chair....

Had a full post on this last week, but loving the SBGJ227 GMT ‘peacock’

I know there have been a few of these already, but here's my GS baby, the Snowflake. I used to have the SBGX059 and that was a cracking watch. I'd happily have another GS quartz. But when I get another GS it will probably be a dark dialled Hi Beat GMT model. The itch is strong....
Here’s my one and only GS.

It’s the SBGX089 - one of the anti-magnetic quartz models, this one is the LE of 500 all black dial. There are two others with the same case - 091 & 093 one with a pale grey / silver dial and one with a black dial with a white rehaut.
I love the case shape on this one and the fact it has some lume which is uncommon with GS especially quartz models. Case is 38.8mm wide so just a nice size.
GS make some stunning stuff. luckily I have an AD on my doorstep, they kindly sent me this out of the blue after chatting about watches last week.

SBGA109 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Spring Drive.
What I love about GS is their finishing. Here's a few closeups I took today to try highlight the fine detail of the tatami weave dial, the polishing of the hour markers, the machining to get the power reserve subdial, and the hand printed Grand Seiko text. Enjoy!

They know how to make a dial that’s for sure. That dial Binsull posted is awesome.
Great thread. Thanks guys.
Having to stop myself sending a pm to owners on this thread with potential trades !

What dial colour is that? Maybe it’s a trick of the light but it certainly reads as a grey sunburst, something I’ve never seen on a GS quartz. Or is it the blue picking up some shadow? Either way, the idea of a grey sunburst GS quartz will torment me from now on, it looks great.
EDIT: I actually had to do a white balance on the bracelet to answer my own question. Blue dial, with some tungsten light on the bracelet and a confused camera! But now I really want the non-existent grey one...

Here are my two.

SBGA029
Considering SBGJ001 next. Really nice watch and not too big unlike the hi beat diver

I know from experience that the dial on Kingkitega's Tenth Anniversary spring-drive 109 is a true classic. What intrigues me is that, when briefly for sale as a limited edition, it only cost £500 more than the standard 'snowflake', in the UK. And was also even more accurate, with the best crystal.
And yet , the snowflake was far more popular. Made no sense to me then, makes no sense to me now. The 109 is special. Great photos by the way. You might rival 'Jocke.'
Just picked this up. SBGT241 limited edition quartz launched in Japan today.
Dark blue Iguana skin for my gmt arrived the other day. I like the effect it has on the watch

Love my two GS. Coming up to 10 years with my SBGR053 I think, still my favourite and most versatile watch. My sbgj017 is a nice counterpoint to it and I always wanted a GS gmt and a hi beat this way combined it in one.
David's snowflake arrived today. Lovely watch. Will probably list for trade my SBGB001 over the weekend for a black dial GS.

I was procrastinating the other day and found this little interview with an English GS collector who has 45 of them. Reasonably interesting and not too long

Interesting video; not many UK watch guys seem to realise how rich and diverse Grand Seiko history really is. And that in the sixties they were producing a mechanical watch guaranteed to a minute a month....about fifty years before Rolex offered a similar guarantee.
Good stuff.
