I always assumed the warranty was transferable but I might be wrong.
Plan B is to use the name on the warranty? Or can you send for warranty work via AD who may not need to disclose your name?
Evening guys!
So i have an SD 4k 116600
Yesterday i realised when setting the time back from my holiday that upon pulling the crown out the seconds hand didn't stop moving...
Sometimes it did after a few seconds and others it just kept going.
I'm looking to call rolex st james tomorrow but this was bought used from the top man Dominic at hackett watches back in 2015
The warranty card is dated to may 2014 in someone elses name.
Anyone know of the odds of getting it sorted as a good will or is this something i would incur a cost?
Obviously a 4 year old watch is 6 years prematurely due the stated 10 year service period so would this be a bad idea to hold out another couple years if Rolex say a service is needed at a cost to me?

Warranty has expired regardless of name on card.
Sure the 5 year warranty came in around September 2015 ??

Full service, sir. Bend over please!
(There's plenty of Rolex trained watchmakers about who should be able to look at it)
That's a very early watch. I bought mine on the weekend it was released and I'm sure that was May.
Haha no way I'm paying for a full service after 4 years.
How dangerous would it be to just continue using it as it is?
Rolex st james just said its in the awkward manufacturing date but to send it in or drop it off in person.
He sounded quite positive on it though and said theres no real rush to send it in but they wouldn't want to do a full service on it after 4 years anyway so my take on that would be they would sort it out.
No pricing was mentioned but i can post it or drop it off...
The only issue with posing is RM only go to £2500 insurance and RSC st james is only open on weekdays!
Yes... Why should i pay for a service when its not even 4 years old?
For a watch of this price point things shouldn't be going wrong this early.
Even the service guy at rolex agreed they would rather not service it as such an early stage.
Yeah being a watch enthusiast doesn't mean i have an open checkbook and have no spine to persue what i think is unacceptable...
I wasn't aware Rolex have not themselves stated the 10 year service intervals but sure ADs have said this and im presuming they get such info from rolex direct...
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong...
Thanks
Yeah just awkward date of may 2014 which puts it in the awkward time period of not receiving the 5 year warranty nor the aditional 1 year granted by about a month he said
Not totally correct!
Rolex confirmed the increase in warranty period and at the same time the update AD’s received also stated the service warranty is still only 2 years but the typical time frame between services had grown to approximately 10 years.
Have a look there are images of the letters Rolex sent the AD’s circulating.
Purchases on or after 1st July 2015 have a 5 year warranty
Purchase on or after 1st July 2014 till 31st June 2015 have the previous 2 year warranty increased to 3 year.
Would say the awkward date would be those caught up between the upgraded 3 year expiring and the 5 year warranty period ie someone’s who purchased on the 31st June 2015.
As your being purchased in May 2014 even if was purchased a month later the 3 year would of expired by now!

I'm just saying what he said...
Obviously not verbatim but thats generally what he said. I did think that that would still put it out of warranty but i wasn't going to argue haha
I think they will... sounded promising on the phone
If they don't want to sort it for free then it is an easy fix, the stop lever is under a bridge that is not connected to the wheel train so can be easily got at and replaced.
Indeed, I’d like to see that.

Servicing every 5 years was the norm for a few reasons, including financial gain but many that you see after 5 years of regular use just need a light clean and relube rather than any spares so at approx 8 years the newer movements and upgraded parts are usually ready for a service and benefit from it. Im sure if you speak to the servicing staff offline they will tell you the same over a beer!!!!!!
