...oops!
Hi all,
I’m looking for some advice, I’m looking for my next purchase and want to complete a well rounded 3 watch collection.
I currently have a Rolex datejust 116234 which is my daily watch (shirt and tie) this is also my weekend watch for evenings out. My next watch is a Casio GW5000 which is my beater watch and this has replaced my Casio M5610. I’m now looking to add a third which will be my casual/holiday watch, I would like to add a Submariner but funds don’t allow for this at the minute.
I would like to add a diver to my collection, I would like it to be 40mm or under and under £1k. If anyone has any opinions please feel free to post your recommendations and pictures.
Thanks in advance.

What about a second hand Tag Aquaracer
I would recommend the 40mm Oris 65.
There is an absolute bargain in SC at the moment
Dave
Edit: Sorry, just realised you probably can’t view Sales Corner yet.
Oris 65 or Zodiac Seawolf maybe?
Agree with the above, I really like the look of the Oris 65.
Or, it's slightly bigger than 40mm and think you might just be able to get one in budget second hand but a Longines Legend Diver? Personally always liked them
I recommend you don’t buy another watch just yet. You have all bases covered.
It's just a matter of time...
39mm Steinhart ocean 1. Buy it brand new and enjoy wearing away at it. Keep £600+ in the bank as the kick start to your submariner fund....and when the day comes, sell the steinhart for a strong used price.
How about an SKX013 and like JohnnyE above says, put the other £800 in the Sub fund.

Steinhart or seiko diver would fit the bill

Save for the the Submariner......it is where you will end-up in the end.
See I have owned an SKX009 and did like it but didn’t like the size, I do like the SKX013 but I wasn’t sure if at 38mm it might wear small. I think buying this and keeping the extra in the bank towards the submariner could be the way forward.

I vote for a secondhand Oris too.

Not quite the same collection but had the same problem.
Rolex 216570 Polar for most days.
Casio GW5000 on combi bracelet for beater.
Then i wanted a holiday watch and decided that GPS was the way to go.(atomic limited to some places i travel)
Also had to be under £1000 and reasonably smart and clear to read.
Went with this and have no regrets.

Sinn 104 would go well.
Tevise automatic for about 20 quid while saving for the Subby ?

Thanks to everyone for all the input. From the last two threads I have created I have come up with the following watches so I will see what I can try on over the coming weeks.
Sin 104
Oris Aquis
ORIS 65
Christopher Ward C60
Seiko SKX013
Also if I don’t like any of them enough I might save the cash for the Submariner.
Thanks

I had the Longines Hydroconquest in 39mm (full Arabic dial) it was a lovely watch and within your budget.
I also managed to pick up a Precista PRS-82 from sales corner. IMO that’s s lovely watch which may scratch your itch?.
Good luck
If it is in your mind. Nothing else will do as I found...start saving and good luck in sourcing one...

Seamaster

Squale 1521. Nice burst of colour and great for the summer / hols.
41mm, I think, but wears closer to 40.
Go for a boutique diver.
I just ordered a Zelos Helmsman 2 bronze black dial.
I think <1k divers are not worth their price compared to <0.5k ones.
IMHO the last ones are the best quality/price tradeoff.
A used seamaster diver you can enjoy now and quite easily flip when your read to buy the sub

Might be a daft question but is the Sinn 104 a diver? I'd always thought it was more of a pilots/aviation watch?
Archimede Pilot Bronze 39mm - around £700 and beautiful in the flesh
Thanks for all of the other suggestions, I have looked at the Seamaster and also looked at the Christopher Ward c60 but I’m still not sure so will continue to see what’s about.
Thanks

Try NTH, I like the Nacken Modern Blue
This is the IWC Ingenieur; would be high on my personal list:

Exactly this. I just bought a Seiko SBDC033 and Part from the bracelet the casework and finishing are up there with Omega. I would either go Seiko and save up for the sub or pick up a used Seamaster. New £1k watches do not have anything to offer that you can't get for £500 IMHO.

Also a used Omega or new Seiko will have better resale value than Christopher Ward, percentage of purchase price wise.

I have had a SM300 quartz mid size, one auto full size, a titanium auto full size and a planet ocean. I may be an uneducated heathen but, based on the price, I cannot see that an omega case is almost an order of magnitude better.

Granted the 33's bracelet isn't a patch on Omega but the case on mine is of a very high standard.

Thanks for all the replies. I’m thinking of ordering an SKX013 and putting the additional funds towards the Submariner.
Thanks

I have a 3 watch collection at the mo, completely random, consisting of a ceramic daytona...seiko 5...and a lidl 5 quid sub a like. (oh and a seiko sarb my dad is wearing). Odd eh.
