Peacock?
My Mum’s dog ran off into the woods today , and came back with this in his mouth ...
It looks like something out of Jurassic Park!
For reference, he is a big dog (English Pointer) and they are in SW France.
And he wasn't gone long enough to have eaten it, which begs another question...

Peacock?
Sheep? A better idea of scale and better pic of the skull would help.
'Against stupidity, the gods themselves struggle in vain' - Schiller.
A few bits missing...
...but my guess would be a sheep...

Before somebody says it, let’s get ‘slow worm’ out of the way!
Looking at the teeth, I’d say a Sheep as well.
Good pick up though, did he want to take it in the car with him on the way back?!
My dog once dragged a large decomposing pike out from the rushes at a lake near me, the smell was outrageous.
I only touched it with my finger/thumb tips but it took days of scrubbing my fingers before the smell disappeared
Surely sheep only have a top set of teeth.?
Some sort of cat?

If it were a sheep, would there not be a large diastema (gap) between the incisors and molars?
A very small lamb by the looks of it, but isn't it the wrong time of year (maybe not in SW France). Possibly a miscarriaged foetus?
My dog once dragged a duvet cover out of the big pond near our house. It absolutely stunk of death so I opened it up to find a deceased, 8ft long, golden python and a few rocks.
I doubt it was dead when it went in the water.

I would give those woods a wide berth in future.

Nessy?
Fairly sure it's one of these.
The beak and crest are missing.
Whatever it is I bet your Mum's mutt was very proud of itself

We have lambs here too.
I too, thought a small lamb or still born.
By scale to the dog it does look very small.
But the teeth don’t look in the best of health which throws me a little.
Also are lambs born with a full set of teeth?
I wouldn’t have thought so.
Those teeth are certainly from a herbivore, almost certainly a small sheep. You're looking at the side of the head, with the snout facing towards the bottom of the image. The Ramus & Body of the mandible are to the left & the right eye is to the right. The molar teeth of a sheep look like this:
I suspect the anterior part of the mandible & maxilla are missing/chewed off. Sheep only have lower incisor teeth, no uppers. Interestingly they have the same number of permanent teeth as a human (32)
