Longines Flagship Chrono
This is not to buy, just for a bit of a discussion ('cos sometimes I think the forum forgets it's not only about the next purchase...). What is the forums view on the best watch under 2k GBP, BUT with some rules...
1. Must be new
2. Available from a UK high street AD, or Chrono 24 / online EU dealer with official warranty.
3. Cannot be one of Rolex, Omega, Tag, Breitling, Tudor (I have not included a few other high street names on purpose but I'm just trying to avoid the 'get a Bretling from a grey dealer' reply!).
4. Must have at least 50m WR.
5. 'Best' is hard to define, so for small guidance... A/ Either best value for money (ok, still broad!) B/ Best movement C/ best overall build or finishing.
My vote, a Seiko Marinemaster 300m from a Euro dealer (possible to find for a few quid under 2k). That's probably an unimaginative choice, so any other views?
Longines Flagship Chrono
Anything from Nomos under 2k
Was about to say any Nomos
Personally I’d go for the Orion - with a couple of hundred change left for good measure...

What about the Longines Legend Diver?

More important things in life than this sort of thread.
Can’t believe I’m going to say this, but Seiko MM300.
It's just a matter of time...
Just reminded me of this thread http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...dsox78-villain
Steinhart Ocean 1. Looks great, well built, v little depreciation, versatile wearer, tough, v inexpensive, good customer service.
Sinn 104. All above applies, just at a higher quality.
No used option prevents an Oris tt1 nomination.

Even the Club Datum is waterproof to 10 atm / 100m
With the Sapphire back, it's £1800.
Another vote for the NOMOS Club. A respectable manual wind that garners kudos from watch nerds and compliments from those who aren't. From a company that has integrity and eschews the smoke and mirrors.
I like the Oris divers. The Movember one is a beauty
My money would be going on a Hanhart Pioneer MkI.
Having owned an Oris diver and looked into Nomos on far too many occasions, I can certainly say the build, quality and finishing of a Nomos is significantly higher than an Oris. Nomos are easily equal to the Tudor and Omega watches I've owned regarding the Case and Dials, and higher quality when it comes to the movement finishing.
Oris are a great brand, love their watches and they're very competitive, but Nomos is greatly underpriced given the level of finishing on the movements, cases and dials.
So if we're going for "Best watch under 2K" the Nomos, in my opinion, will only lose if you specifically state that it has to be a tool / dive watch or over 43mm. Even then, you'd be stepping down a level or two in order to gain those traits.
Oris 65 diver 42mm. Absolutely love it. Must try one some day.
Well my two current faves are ... Baume Et Mercier Clifton Club and the new Eterna KonTiki diver
Smiths 29b
There is a brand new Sinn EZM13 available on rubber from a German dealer for £1850, and another for £2050 on bracelet.

Not so long ago the answer would have been a Speedie Pro! Those were the days.
Tudor Ranger grey dealer if you like the look
Seiko Marine Master
Longine Master Complications
Shouldn't this be the TZ-UK spelling challenge ?
(Sorry, couldn't resist)
My choices...
Tag Heuer Aquaracer 300m diver (plenty of choice, make no apologies for TH as I bought the chrono version for my 40th!)
Sinn 556
Seiko MM300
Oris Divers 65 (specifically Movember edition)
Another for the oris diver or bell & Ross br123 looks good to me.

Oris Diver 65 is a great watch and my daily wearer. That I won it in a TZ fundraiser raffle might make me a bit biased I suppose.

With regard to the topic, German brands rule the roost.

A Junghans Max Bill has always appealed and would fit with the criteria I think. I’d go for the white dial on mesh.

Sinn 556 anni, very versatile or a Seiko (MM300 for divers, SARX for more dressy look)
Seiko Marinemaster
MM300 far better in real life than images, also a champion if you play watch conkers!
