After much thought I decided I needed another Turtle and went for the Pepsi, to join my SRP775. I'm enjoying the similarities and the differences. The 779's dial is more matt and the white printing makes it more traditional. It looks really good on the Strapcode jubilee and like my 775 it keeps excellent time, currently -2s per day. £190 from eGlobal, delivery in less than a week and no fees or VAT, so far .... :)

I bought this three years ago as a "dropped in the swimming pool and not worked since" basket case on eBay for £48.
I love it.
I was looking for a bit of colour....
Something else has just caught my eye (as it always seems to do) though so will have to see if it stays. However, I've always been partial to a yellow dial and I've nothing other than black or blue dials at the moment so it has a chance!!
18 years ago I wore this SQ100 during my Royal Marine Commando training phase. I remember the crowns digging into my wrist when doing press-ups in the mud and getting my rucksack straps caught around the watch and feeling like my wrist was being peeled of skin, but I loved the Chrono so much that I put up with grief.
Apparently the internals have corroded so it no longer works. I salvage the green strap and still wear it to this day on my old Tissot.
I guess that a Diver would have been more appropriate for the environment.
Definitely needs fixing given it's history
Should be the first combo of numbers and letters to the right of the "6". I think it might be a 7T32 movement and a quick look on eBay should throw up some runners in nasty cases ripe for pulling the movement from.
+1
Can't beat the piece of history the owner has with that watch, should be an easy fix.
I have owned the Blue version previously, but I prefer the Black.
Trying to brighten up our dull and damp weather...
And my new arrival with its big brother...
Thanks for the input guys. You've got me thinking that it would be great to see the old girl working again.
As I searched Ebay it brought back a watch that I already own! Therefore I think I already have a donor as they are both 7T-32 and the old Silver Chrono isn't in great shape. Does the numbers following 7T-32 make a difference?
Brilliant! Steve Burrage of ryte time http://www.rytetimewatchrepairs.co.uk/ knows these well and did work on my 7T32 if you need someone to do the job.
EDIT: NOS movements are still about too if your donor doesnt work out: https://www.cousinsuk.com/search?SearchTerm=7t32
