The problem with a thread like this is that I now realise that even when I do get my first speedy I will want at least one or two more!
Since asking above, the watchobsession Omega style deployant clasps have been continuously out of stock (20/18mm size).

Can anyone suggest a decent alternative?
I see lots on eBay for £5 from China, but would rather buy a quality one like the watchobsession one (brushed).
Keen to try some straps!
Or maybe I should just go with a traditional pin buckle...
Have a look at these

In the garden attempting to take photo's on the Wife's iphone, better delete them from her phone gallery before she wonders why theres a load of Wrist Watch pics in her gallery lol, not quite up to Jocke's standard yet!
Lovely shot!
Might try and take a few myself today.

Earth calling moon rocket! Are you receiving me?
A couple of new NATO's - Horween leather and distressed leather - I think the latter looks particularly good.
GasGasBones has a page of pretty cool items entitled 'Just for Speedies'. There are some nice bespoke objects and despite Carl often being closed for orders, many are available off the shelf. http://www.gasgasbones.com/ggb-goodi...ter-stuff.html
Well, just contacted my local AD, they had one in stock. I asked for a healthy discount, and they obliged (given that I'd bought from them in the past).
I'll pick it up on Monday or Tuesday, and have been looking through this thread for strap ideas! Have a GGB that might work from the off, we'll see.
While doing a bit of watch hunting the other day, i came across this Speedy Pro that I hadn't seen before. Ref 3594.50 Speedmaster Broad Arrow which appear to be a reissue of the original Speedy from '57. Some elements I quite like and it was minty with B&P. I walked away from it for now as I already have 2 Speedies on the go and because I didn't really know anything about them.
So what can the collective tell me about them? Regular production or LE? Numbers? Values? When were they made? Loved? Loathed? Indifference?
I'm going back there next week so if I have got my head around it properly it still might tempt me.
cheers

A marmite Speedy? This was an unnumbered and unlimited production watch between 1998 and 2003. It was officially named by Omega as the "Replica" model as it was identical in dial/hands/ bezel appearances to the 1957 first issue Speedmaster. Standard 42mm case though,as well as crown, pushers and bracelet as per the 1998 era Speedy Pro. Not uber-valuable (at least in Speedy terms) but very very nice. Mint one's are fairly easily available at £2,000. I think at that money they are unbelievable value and a great piece to have.

This landed Tuesday while I was away. Just got back and trying some strap combo's. Not a very common Speedy - this is #169/500. These were LE's for Italian market in 1986 and again in 1988.

A few years back I visited Cape Canaveral (it was a bit like my Speedmaster going back home).
Sorry for the poor quality shots, but I had to be quick before the humourless security told me to stop!
A piece of real moon rock
And this is my speedmaster ON the moonrock

Thanks Tom. Great info. I really like it, especially the hands and applied logo. I'm still on the fence about though as it's another black dial Speedy Pro and that one with the white dial and blued hands and markers might add a bit more interest if I can find one. We'll see...
Thanks again.
Thanks! Done:

I reckon the Kizzi is about the best NASA style strap, super comfortable. It's the one in the Smithsonian shots I posted earlier.
I know that there is some debate whether or not the Speedsonic is part of of the Speedmaster family, but for the purposes of this thread I'll say that it is.
I cant believe no Snoopies are on this thread (apologies if i missed it) so I thought id post a pic of one of mine a friend is looking after (i am sure its just a matter of time before he hands it over, im thinking 40th birthday present) :)
My favourite Speedy looking very at home on my wrist owned by ml.williams
Awesome - I've just ordered the modern one (typewriter / US Army green) - we shall compare later upon arrival!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Divided opinions on precious metal tool/sports watches - but for those that like some bling to their Speedy:

Tom I am in growing awe of your Speedmaster collection - how about a group shot? What else are you holding back from us?
I absolutely love that /gold Speedmaster.
Thanks! It is: 3695.50 They were made as 'standard production' Speedy Pro's with a production window between 1999-2012.
Mine is a NOS I found held by a collector. Wanted one for ages. The solid gold Speedy Pro's all tend to be LE/anniversary models so this is the unadorned 'basic' Speedy Pro Moonwatch with standard moon watch caseback is nice, IMHO. It comes with a black croc strap that tapers to a 16mm 18k deployant clasp - slightly more vintage vibe than the 18mm deployant clasp on the current steel Speedies.

I did a SOTC a few weeks ago, where there's a few better pics:
