Neither is relevant. It's not going anywhere and it's incompressible.
This is a fab timeline and worth a look as well:

Same static pressure over a larger surface are = less stress per square millimetre.
Just saying.....

When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
I went to Watches of Switzerland and Rolex in Harrods today and both told me there was, as yet, no waiting list open for this watch as it hasn't yet been released for sale.
I never knew how hard it would be to give a company £8500.

Almost certainly the latter, given my experience of that particular AD, hence my being a little jaded. I'm sure today was more representative and the list is yet to open. Some on this thread have managed it early - earned fairly by good relationships no doubt, which is perfectly reasonable.
WOS suggested the list will likely open in the first week of May, if that's helpful info to anyone like me who hasn't yet got an "in". :)

Good review here. Couple of nice pics.

Are numerals on the date wheel fatter on the new movement?
I just did a Google image search for the 3155 and 3235 movements, to look at them without the magnifiers in the way. To my eye they do look a tiny bit thicker and they more pronounced serifs, but the photos weren't high enough resolution to make zooming in worthwhile. At least, not on my phone at any rate

This watch has made me realise something that I suspected for some time. The red text doesn't actually look better, it was just rarer.

Not a peep
I've had the call to say they are in earliest collection Monday due a stitulation of no sale before May 1st this has also been confirmed over on TRF by a few U.K members.
Nice one, can't wait to see some more real on the wrist pictures of this one. Kind of regretting not putting my name down for one.
Yeh. I'm hoping I get a call very soon.

I had the call earlier this week and can go and see my watch but not actually buy it until Monday.
I guess I'm not as high on the list as I thought. Hey ho.
This is quick, looking forward to some normal wrist shots.
I just hope Rolex have got their act together this time and it doesn't turn into another Daytona fiasco.
Here are some wristshots
Actually it's not that bad, well besides the cyclops. It's a fairly decent size jump in terms of weight if we compare it to SD4000. But the added 3mm to the case balances it quite well on the wrist. Still prefer a bit toolish SD4000 thou...
I concur

Agreed the new SD looks excellent and well proportioned - not sure my skinny wrists can pull it off though.
I must confess it was the cyclops that did for me, I wasn't too bothered about the 43mm size the red writing is superb.
The bezel lume pip looks much lower-profile on that. I like it!!
After seeing those pictures it has confirmed my choice. (If I want a cyclops I can get a Submariner date).

I have had the SD43 call as well! Roll on Monday!
Sacrilegious, I know, but the Cyclops is an improvement in my opinion. The plain, tiny and too-far-inboard date window is the only flaw I've found on my 116600, so I'm OK with that getting fixed.
Good point about the heft. Though it's nothing unbearable, I find the previous version more than heavy enough for long-term wearing, so the extra mass isn't exactly a plus.
Quality photos there. The case looks great, but the fat bezel I'm not so sure about. Definitely keen on having a look in person. :)
Maybe they added the cyclops to make it seem like they did more with the update? Saying that Rolex doesn't really like changing much with designs so a update for the sake of having done more to differentiate from the older model seems out of character for them. I Photoshopped the image and added the new SD without a cyclops and it's pretty insignificant update to the old one with just a size increase and a line of red text, so who knows?

I think the last 40mm version is my favourite. Will try the new one but struggling to like the oversized bezel and cyclops.
