Picking the international over the JDM

Do people value the JDM versions over the international releases of seiko models ?

I've found people including myself prefer the legitimacy and allure of JDM versions of what can only be described as the same watch as the international.

Is it the preference of the Japanese (kanji) date wheel over the French/English

Or is it something else - the mystique?

Should it be an issue ? I'm not talking about divers models (skx k or j)I'm talking general releases that differ in cosmetically, only the date wheel and some polished links rather than brushed to set them aside ?

Again is it preference or misguided belief that the JDM is better?

Thoughts on a date wheel please

Not sure if it's the same thing, but I prefer my Swiss made watches to have the day in French; just seems more 'authentic' in some way. You can't always get what you want, but I do look for it.

Whenever I've had a day-date Seiko, I've always kept it on the kanji day.
