Mr Crowley - Randy Rhoads - Ozzy Osbourne
Bohemian Rhapsody - Brian May - Queen
All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix - The Jim Hendrix Experience
Sweet Child O' Mine - Slash - Guns N' Roses

It might not be the best but Free Bird is up there with them.

Do you go back as far as The Carpenters? Goodbye to Love?
Tony Peluso was it?
i was stood next to the guy that filmed this, the gig was pretty much unpublicised as it had had to be rescheduled, i reckon less than 30 there and it was the the first and only time this legendary band had played the UK. enjoy!

marchingontogether!
Oh dear, this could be a long list...
Iron Maiden - The Trooper https://youtu.be/2G5rfPISIwo?t=130
Iron Maiden - Fear of The Dark https://youtu.be/qEja72NSg5Q?t=235
Neil Young - Like A Hurricane
David Bowie - Moonage Daydream
Slash - Anastasia
Slash (G'n'R) - Nightrain https://youtu.be/Qyf8oRF6Trg?t=187
Slash - By The Sword https://youtu.be/yajU0oeMJo4?t=166
Alter Bridge - Blackbird https://youtu.be/yz_j7nVCJJ0?list=RD...CJJ0&t=274
David Gilmour - On An Island Live in Gdansk

A few less well known, hidden gems:
Rainbow Blues by Blackmore's Night. I can't conceive how Ritchie Blackmore went from Deep Purple to Rainbow to Blackmore's Night. 99% of Blackmore's Night is beyond terrible, but somehow he sneaked in what is one of my favourite solos. Don't listen to any more Blackmore's Night. Seriously, don't listen to it. Especially don't listen to their version of Child In Time.

A virtually unknown Jimmy Page solo that perfectly encapulates his playing - it is both appallingly bad and genius at the same time. It's hidden away in a B-Side Tom Morello mix of Puff Daddy's Come With Me...
https://youtu.be/zTNXC_9hrb8?t=126
Did you know Pink Floyd's Pigs on the Wing parts 1 & 2 were originally a single song? And that there's a recording of it featuring a Snowy White solo?
Finally, no greatest guitar solo list is complete without Larry Carlton's effort on Steely Dan's Kid Charlemagne. Perhaps the most perfect and complete solo ever.

Kid by the Pretenders... .16 seconds of lyrical perfection..
Coming Home by Deep Purple.
Unhinged genius by the great Tommy Bolin
Comfortably Numb here for me too as my favourite but there are lots that come close.
Andy
Wanted - Damasko DC57
I've seen Cross Roads by Clapton, and All along the watch Tower by Hendrix, I'd include just about anything Peter Green did in the original Fleetwood Mac too.
Double Trouble - Eric Clapton
No Woman, No Cry (live) - Bob Marley and the Wailers
I'm Goin' Home (live at Woodstock) - Ten Years After
Why Must I Plead - Riichard Thompson
Crying to the Sky - Be Bop Deluxe
Best Accoustic
Vincent Black Lightning - Richard Thompson
Always had a soft spot for Sweet Child o Mine (Guns n Roses).
Always liked Dweezil's solo here...starts at 1:49
Also, talking of Steely Dan, Jeff Baxter's is great on this....
The top 3 IMO:
Jimi Hendrix – ‘All Along The Watchtower’
Guns N’ Roses – ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’
Led Zeppelin – ‘Stairway To Heaven’
But mentioned in despatches are:
Clapton - 'Layla'
Nirvana – ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’
There was a clip shown on the news when Prince died when he was lined up with a load of other famous artists all playing guitar. Can't remember the details but I'm sure it's findable on YouTube. Talented isn't the word!
Edit:
https://youtu.be/6SFNW5F8K9Y
funkadelic's maggot brain (eddie hazel on guitar)
Jimmy Hendrix Red house
SRV Tin pan ally
Frank Zappa, Zomby woof
Cosby & Nash, Mutiny on a sailboat
Lindsey Buckingham, so afraid
Currently Joe Bonamassa seems to be the best Guitarist around

Stevie Ray Vaughn
Ok not really proper solos but 5 instruments on a guitar
Allen Collins & Steve Gaines in Freebird
Dave Gilmour in Comfortably numb for me

Oh, another: Fredrik Akesson's solo in Opeth's Cusp of Eternity https://youtu.be/JHq9yMXw3iA?t=205

For me it has to be Julian Lage's Persian Rug. He plays lines so relaxed. Also, Julian playing with Santana at 7 years old is pretty awesome!

10cc - 'Feel The Benefit'.
Fleetwood Mac (Lindsey Buckingham) - 'I'm So Afraid'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OrtLxsqSic
Eric Clapton on The Beatles 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'.

A lot of my favourites all ready mentioned Page, Blackmore & Gilmore etc
So here are a few others:
Rory Gallagher - Bullfrog Blues
Ry Cooder - Crossroads (with Steve Via)
Eddie Van Halen - Eruption
Jan Akkerman - Hocus Pocus
Alex Lifeson - YYZ
Michael Schenker - Lights Out
Johnny Winter - Illustrated man
Gary Moore - Still got the blues
Great suggestions. I would add:
"Lazy" by Deep Purple
"Sultans of Swing" by Dire Straits
"Scuttle Buttin" by Stevie Ray Vahughan
And the whole first Van Halen album
Loads of great suggestions on this thread.
I'd like to pitch this one in:
Brilliant from the beginning, and then Prince steps in at about 3:25...
Simply remarkable given that he could play at least 27 instruments.
So clever my foot fell off.
Some of my favs are :
Scarified by Paul Gilbert
For the love of God by Steve Vai
Cliff's of Dover by Eric Johnson
Sent from my Moto G (4) using TZ-UK mobile app
Right up my street!!
For me... there can be only one... the man who's every tune is an ongoing solo!
My all time favourite - Raspberry Jam Delta V!
...and any excuse to share a pic of my pride and joy... my Ibanez JS1200CA, signed by the man himself! Had the privilege of meeting him in 2008 backstage in Belfast - got a few pics with the legend, and my guitar signed. Guitar head's dream!

A couple off the top of my head:
Jimi Hendrix 'Hey Joe'
John Squire on The Stone Roses' 'Made of Stone' and 'Breaking into Heaven'
Whoever plays the solo on The Super Furry Animals' 'Hometown Unicorn'
Two from the Knopfler:
Not fancy, but there's always feeling and never a note out of place
Too many to choose one, as well as all the ones already mentioned there is a solo in Bitch by the Rolling Stones that always makes me grin
Robert Fripp-"Frame By Frame" King Crimson.
Anything by Carlos Santana.
Comfortably Numb, Beat It and Canyons Of Your Mind.
"A man of little significance"
I like my solos a bit heavier - frankly anything from 80s era Metallica or Maiden does it for me.
For insanity - Herman Li from Dragonforce

I love the fact that everyone in that clip before Prince is playing with the tune and being very polite....he enters and plays completely against the tune but its so much stronger for that anarchy and genius craziness that he brings. Tom Petty looks annoyed for being upstaged but Harrison's son is loving it. Some of Princes guitar runs are simply out of this world, totally inspired just completely out there musically quite like Hendrix.
A definite vote for Carlos Santana
And a bit off the wall choice - Beat It, with Slash and Orianthi Panagaris https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vCz1JDZazlU
Still in love with you.. Brian Robertson ,on Thin Lizzy Live and Dangerous
I'm seriously going to be streaming some of these clips to my Hi-Fi tonight
Talking of Joe Bonamassa https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wSQwj3s8Y4s
Wow.
Ry Cooder - So many to choose from
Jan Akkerman - Hocus Pocus and others
Róisín Dubh (Black Rose): A Rock Legend- Gary Moore
Parisienne Walkways: Gary Moore
Jimi Hendrix 'Redhouse'
Led Zep - Dazed and Confused
