    Good effort.

This will probably encourage more members to post a pic in the Friday thread and increase their favourite brands profile.

Shame me there's no more Fridays left in January.

Thanks Ian, interesting read and confirms that Rolex and Omega rule the roost. I don't think the bookies would have given decent odds for that outcome though

    Interesting, thanks for that.

It confirms the swerve to Rolex (and Omega) over the last few years that others have commented on.

It took a while to collate them all, I'm a little bit tempted to try and do this for the whole year but not sure if I can overcome my natural laziness

A year on year comparison going back to, say, 2009 would be excellent.

When you have a few moments spare, like. ;-)

Glad to see my squale is so exclusive!
Really interesting analysis here. I'm surprised Seiko wasn't top given their popularity and price point.

Good stuff! I'd be interested to see what the top 20 Friday forum watches are, not just the brands.

  10. #10
That's a fair old list ,a couple of makes on there I've never heard of

IF! I decide to do this for the year (I need my head looked at even for thinking about this) would the forum want the totals at the end of each month or just the full year?

As many JLC as Tiger Talkboys!
Thanks for the effort to sum it up.

Interesting list but why "Russian, etc"? Don't Russian brands deserve their own individual mentions? ;)

I think monthly totals would be most interesting. :-)

Ha, good work there, actually far more interesting than it should be, and better still it was done without advance notification. Does generally fit with what most of us would guess I suspect.

Now how about a 2016 one?

Honestly comes down to a combination of.....
laziness (same reason I didn't separate Eddies smiths and presista from the traditional ones)
    and
Lets be honest I don't know them well enough (or as well as I would like) to identify the separate brands.

It is no slight against Russian watches, I have always wanted one of those lovely Volna watches with the copy of the zenith 135 movements

No, surprise there. However I feel now brands on the top of the list are less appealing to me 😐

Not many smartwatches on the list. They clearly have not had a big impact on the TZUK membership yet !

Fewer APs than I would have expected as well.

    Great work and very interesting.

Only now I've got to find out who was wearing the other Helvetia!

I've got one but it is not as good looking as yours

I took each week separately and added them together, so I think both the counts for the Helvetia are yours anyway

Thanks :). I'll have to find a different one for next time! I love that one but it needs a bit of TLC - the crown and the crystal at least are both wrong, but I love it anyway. I'll get round to it one day.

You should put your one up some time - I've got a couple now and we can start a minority interest thread :). With any luck Carlton-Browne might join in with the fabulous one he showed me yesterday.

    you've started something now,

Hope this will be a weekly thing from now on.

I'm slightly surpirised the Breitling count isn't a little higher.

  32. #32
    Good work OP.

Future stats may well be skewed by posters trying to score a unique hit though!

  33. #33
Rolex have really managed something special: worldwide, mainstream recognition and appeal, while remaining the "connoisseur's" choice.

I'll send you a picture, its a 1960s thing, it lacks the charm of your prop blade dial

I may regret starting this, but I will try my best to make this a monthly thing for the rest of the year

    Thank you
I had intended this to be a one off exercise but the positive response to the thread has made me reconsider.
It is quite possible that people will try to post unique brands (I personally would look forward to seeing some unicorn watches in the wild)
We may even get fans of certain brands trying to one up each other, but at the end of the day it is all just for the fun of it.

  35. #35
Great job - I'd love to see some more stats.

I love seeing the watches on the Friday threads, but rarely have the means to post - I need a computer rather than phone or iPad to put pics in a thread, so rarely do so.
It's just a matter of time...

  36. #36
I love the fact that somebody was bored enough and bonkers enough to compile that list.

    Well done, Sir!

Now I think about it, I would have guessed that the average number of Rolex/week to be higher than 20

Cool! That would be very interesting. But I don't think you should feel as if you have to: A little thing like this can become something of a burden if it's not fun.

    Interesting but not unexpected.

TBH I haven't posted in or looked at the picture book for years.

Thank Gawd Eddie just keeps it to Fridays.
    Cheers,

Yes, didn't think Tudors would be almost 3 times as prevalent, very strong showing from them.

I don't frequent the Friday thread either, but do sometimes get it mixed up with the Chronoporn thread.
What interesting and varied Fridays some members have.

I just had a look at a couple of Friday threads from January 2010. Fewer Rolexes, it seems Omega predominate. But there are so many dead links its hard to be sure of anything.

It seems you'll have a little more work now, separating out the pictures that are posted on Saturdays, despite the express wishes of Mr. Flatts.
