Here are two AW-594s from 1994. They were part of a series of World Cup watches Casio issued that year as they were the official time keeping partner for FIFA.

Unfortunately Japan failed to qualify in an upset and reduced sales somewhat as they were sold only in Japan. They are quite desirable now though.

Casio brought back the AW-500 for just one 'Lovers' model in 1999.

It had long stopped producing the ordinary AW-500 and had moved on to resin cased analogues unlike the solid steel of the AW-500s. This one had some interesting detail celebrating the end of the millennium.

So I bought one of these.

But I was disappointed with the feel of the strap, which wasn't anywhere near as comfortable as my other G-Shock, the GW-5000-1JF.

That shouldn't have come as a surprise, knowing the GW-5000's strap is meant to be superior to the regular resin straps, but I just couldn't get a good fit. So I bought a GW-M5600BC combi bracelet and bezel. And voila!

I wasn't sure about the combi bracelet because photos I'd seen of it didn't look great–i didn't like the transition from the smooth bezel to the textured bracelet, and the taper on the bracelet looked too severe. Also, parts of the links were resin. Ugh.

However, I'm so pleased I took the chance. On the wrist I think it looks great, no worries about the visual issues I'd had from seeing pictures beforehand. The bracelet doesn't feel or look cheap, it's light, comfortable to wear (it has micro adjustments in the clasp to get a good fit) and has held up to a few weeks on the wrist without any chips or scratches to the painted metal parts. All in all, very pleased. :)

Really depends on the model. Some yes - some won't. E.g the one below will keep its value ( 880£ ) in pristine condition within the next year or so.

That is avalible now in UK, I think might go for this looks pretty amazing, glad I waited before getting a mudmaster.
