Kiddies costumes, that should get a lot of Google hits I'd have thought
The wife is looking to open an online children's dressing up shop.
We really wanted www.thedressingupbox.co.uk but it's taken, (unless anyone knows how we can get hold of it?)
Failing that, we've come up with few names. I'd appreciate opinions please?
She's going for quaint middle England rather than flashy store front.
All end .co.uk...
Thedressingupstore
Kiddies-costumes
Anniesdressingupbox
Thelittlelondoncostumeshop
Theolddressingupbox
Littlepeoplesdressingupshop
Makebelieveclothingcompany
Thedressingupdirectory
Thedressingupshop
Thelittledressingupshop
Thedressingupchest
Thedressinguptrunk
Thanks in advance
Dave
Kiddies costumes, that should get a lot of Google hits I'd have thought
If I was Googling for kids costumes, thats what I would search for 'kids costumes'. Out of those,Kiddies costumes would be my choice.
surely it should be Website-y McWebsite face?
'Quaint Middle England' will appeal internationally. Perhaps you might consider a .com instead of a .co.uk if you will sell internationally.
The shorter the better with Domain Names - both for promotional purposes and ease of typing in the web address (although most visits will be from clicking on a link).
Christ you lot are quick!!!
Thanks so far, all good advice.
Meant to say, open to other suggestions also.
I agree with Alpha4.
How about one that has "corner" in it instead of store/box ?
dressupcorner/dressingupcorner
These are pretty long as well.
Is dressbox taken ?
Also, do cut "the" out of it. It makes it long and bothersome.
It is owned by a UK individual named Deborah Cheshire of 32 High Bank House, Station Road, Bromsgrove, B60 1PZ. You could approach her with an offer to buy the domain from her.
When you decide on domains, register immediately. Grab .com, .co.uk, .uk and optionally (but ideally) .net, .org and .org.uk.
Are there going to be specific types of costume or is it 'all' basically?
I can beg my guys at work (i work for a large global digital agency) to have a quick look at what will likely get the best search engine traffic
I hope she will offer next day delivery for when little Johnny says they have 'dress like a Victorian day' on Friday on Wednesday evening.
Kids Costumes sounds the best bet.
"The Dressing Up Box" is taken, but you could play about with it - for example "The Dressing Up Fun Box" is available.
quaint middle England - InfantsOutfitters or InfantsOutfits

I like kidscostumes.com but somehow kidscostumeshop.com seems more "quaint".
thelittlecostumeshop.com also works.
ps. There is are current sites kidscostumes.co.nz and kidscostumeshop.com.au (but not witht a .com or .co.uk domain)
How about:
dressingupfun.co.uk
kidsdressingup.co.uk
kidsdressup.co.uk
kidsdressupbox.co.uk
dressupforkids.co.uk
dressupboxforkids.co.uk
dressingupboxforkids.co.uk
Some extra domains for redirects:
bookdaycostumes.co.uk
kidsvictoriancostumes.co.uk

Here are the details:
http://www.nominet.uk/whois/?query=t...#whois-results
short as possible is key; people can't spell as a rule.
I work in this area BTW so this is empirical info
Don't rule out the platforms as well including international (Amazon, eBay, Coolshop etc.)
Good luck
Thank you all for taking the time. I'll show this thread to the wife later on so she can have a look.

Hi Dave, hope your liking the Alpinist!
Just to say Google loves online retail that ends in "shop" or so I have been told, we're just about to open an online business soon, the website domain will end in shop..
Also have you looked and opening your business through Shopify, one of the easiest and most supportive e-commerce software there is with lots of good themes to get you started.
Good one and its available - www.dressingupshop.co.uk

It would be commercially infeasible in my opinion to do business on a .uk without also having the .co.uk. Also, if anyone started using the .com version then that could be dangerously confusing. It is always best therefore to grab the .com, .co.uk, and .uk and (ideally) the .org.uk, .org, and .net versions. (.net.uk is reserved for network providers whereas .net is free for all). Although .ltd.uk also exists, hardly anyone uses it and it is restricted to limited companies that match the name, so there is less need to actually register it.
