So where did the ceramic bezel come from? I want one!
Yes, of course! Good work indeed.
Lume is the next topic to learn on my list. Up till now I've not ventured to change the lume. Any tips would be appreciated - what lume do you use, how do you apply it etc etc etc.
A lot of the combinations shown in this thread look great, and this one, along with a few others on the 710 cushion case (which has been my favourite style), strike me as especially so with the silver starburst color dials I think I like best on Vostoks. I hadn't realized it also looked so good on the 100 case, which yours appears to be, and with the "Coke"(?) black/red bezel. Nice one
Also, could someone with personal experience or on good authority please comment as to the safety and service, etc., ordering from the Russian website Meranom.com ?
THANKS
Meranom is an excellent seller. I've bought from him many times without a problem. The only downside is that deliveries to the UK will take about 2 weeks from ordering. If you want a Vostok faster than that, try Zenitar on eBay - he's right next to the main postal hub in Moscow and an order will take about a week to reach you.
Well thank you, Lampoc, that gives me two options (and I have previously seen Zenitar's eBay site). I'd probably be O.K. with the bit longer mailing wait with Meranom, though, as I tend to be patient in that sense, and they seem to have a few versions of the Amphibian and related accessories and parts I don't think I've seen elsewhere
THANK YOU VERY MUCH AGAIN
Thanks!
This is indeed a 100 case, which started life with the white dial and automatic movement which are now in my 090 case with the white tropic!
As I ended up with a spare case, I bought a manual 2414A movement and silver dial from Zenitar. The bezel is from 'Boris' http://stores.ebay.co.uk/vostokpoljotwatchesfromrussia/ and the insert is from dagaz http://www.dagazwatch.com/apps/webst...y/12255?page=1
I've had very good experiences with both Zenitar and Meranom, plus another seller to add into the mix - http://chistopolcity.com/
The combination of 512 dial, Seiko hands and the 710 case above (click) turned out very well, but wasn't the result I had been planning for the dial and hands. I'd actually put them together for a an idea I'd had for a while - a "Stealth Amphibia".
The parts for that idea came together during the week, so I swapped over the innards and here it is:

The 100 case has been PVD-coated, along with a pers184 bezel I had lying around. I'd originally thought a camouflage strap would work well but that didn't look right. Instead, I've put it on a black leather strap. I've not had a black watch before, and it's an unusual look, but I think I like it:

A rainy weekend gave me the chance to use the 710 case vacated by the 512 dial used in the black Amphibia above. All of the parts for this one were sourced individually and I spent a happy couple of hours putting everything together.

Case and movement were sourced from Meranom, dial from Favinov on the Bay, hands from Dagaz and the Komandirskie second hand from my box of bits.

Pretty pleased with this one and I think it goes well with the camouflage strap.

I am enjoying seeing the results of your labours Wotsch.
Ed335d,
Thanks on all that, not to mention showing your watch in the first place --- I hadn't fully realized just how good the 100 style case Amphibians could look
BTW, I think your particular star-burst silver dial is the factory #661 and it apparently can be ordered alone from the Vostok factory, at least through Meranom according to their site, and I think I saw it listed and available at Zenitar's eBay site not so long ago as well. I imagine it's very popular (like the OP said of yours earlier -- it's beautiful)
Also thanks on the Chistopolcity site, I'm not sure I'd seen that one before

Finally grabbed a black bezel from Meranom and popped it on my amphibia today, along with some new hands with improved lume. Really amazing the difference such a small change makes.
Prior to the swap with its dot-dash bezel...
I'm just waiting on delivery of a silver seconds hand now to smarten it up a little bit more.
That does look really good. I do like those bezels, they go extremely well with a 420 case and that one sets off the dial nicely.
Cheers,

This whole thread has been very inspiring to me. Just need to get the courage to change dials and hands!
Great job. The bezel goes really well with the blue scuba dude dial. I have to ask - where did you get that bracelet from?
Very nice combo! Is that an AM-watches bezel?
Cheers,

Velorum's Blue Amphibia Scuba Dude thread reminded me that I had had a play with the metallic beige dialled version 120658.
Recently, meranom started offering stainless steel replacement crowns for the Amphibia. I received a couple a few days ago and swapped them on to a couple of my mods. They're much, much nicer than the usual pressed crowns and I think I'll be using them for all of my future mods.

I better get an order in before these all sell out!
The checkout will not let you proceed unless your have ordered more than $30's worth
I will either have to wait until they have more 420SE's in stock or perhaps if someone on here is willing to add a couple to their order on my behalf?
I'm kicking myself that I didnt order a couple of these with all the other parts I bought recently!
Dammit, they are now preorder only! That didn't take long.
I didn't realise that, sorry. I had added some extra parts in my order so it topped the $30 but it seemed to let me calculate the postage when it was less so I had assumed that it would have gone through.
Edit - I've just seen that my order was for less than $30 but the postage fee tipped it over.

Unfortunately, although his bezels are some of my favourites, I cannot recommend the bezel maker pers184 any more and would recommend you to take notice of the following thread on WUS:
