first look it seems quite nice, I'll do some reading up...
Just seen this on watchuseek: http://www.cjrwatches.com & http://forums.watchuseek.com/f512/in...d-3193378.html
It's a sign-up for a pre-Kick Starter discount code (10%). Thought i'd give you guys the heads up in case you hadn't seen it. No mention anywhere I can see of pricing, but I've asked the question.
I'm a bit of a fan of backing Kickstarter watches (I've got about 3 with one more to come) and really like the look of this one.
Steve
signed up.......a bit of Ressence in that one, without the price tag!!
I'm not convinced - looks like it would take too much effort to tell the time and bound to get scratched.
Thanks for sharing, I too have signed up.
I like the look of this, it could be my first kickstart watch.
Snailed ?Its deep black dial snailed in part with 12 applied indices
It's not curved. I must be missing something.
Edited to add link to "technical drawing".
Sorry, I don't like it.
It's fresh, not particularly derivative, and unusual, but for all that, not for me.
Another watch with a Myota movement, can't go wrong with one of these, but it's sad - how far eastern movements are threatening the survival of the Swiss , and even a few of the so called Siss movements are all but in name, Chinese.
I like this one, the uniqueness peaked my curiosity. I signed up, but the price will determine if I get it. I hate the thought of spending money on something new and unproven, but I am kicking myself for not grabbing the COURG when I saw it. So we shall see.
I do quite like the white faced one. But as most everything, the success (sales) depends on the price tag.
I like the concept of the caseback and front being glass, sandwiching a simple metal cylinder centre section.
Not sure the design quite does it justice (short hands needed on overlapping sub-dials).
But Revue Thommen have been making Airspeed models for years, surely they have protected this name for themselves??
D
Those CAD images look god-awful!
I really don't like the watch, but admire them for trying something different. And it is certainly different...
Just a quick update for those interested... I received an email today to say that the Kickstarter will open on the 14th June and the guy has also replied on the cost, saying it will be under USD 500.
SteveRegarding the price, it will definitely be under $500 USD, do you think that's a good price? Let me know what price range you guys are looking at! And please stay tuned to our launch on 14th June!!
I got the update email as well.
Looks like they have changed the sapphire crystal to plexi
That makes it less attractive to me as it will essentially be a plastic cased watch. $500 for a plastic watch is a bit steep.
I still like the look though.
I think it's lost a lot of its appeal with the change to hesalite. Normally I'm a fan, but this watch was all about the smooth profile, and they've completely changed that from what I can make out.
Kickstarter is off and running.
I have to admit, I succumbed... Looks to be going well.
First Kickstarter I've ever done, but I really like the look of the watch, even with hesalite, $305 seems a fair price for something so different.

I've signed up too. The price of $329 is a lot more like it. I think they mooted $500 before. I've signed up for the Duo Pack
Looks like they're going to get fully funded on their first day too!
EDIT: Goal reached.

Well, this is a first for me - I too have signed up at $339 for the watch on a leather strap.
I agree that it would have been spectacular value if the crystals were sapphire, but I still think it's worth a punt at the price.
I love the look of the Pilot (the black one), but don't like the appearance of the beige-dialled one at all, so if it all happens then I'll go for the black one on the black leather strap.
The whole Kickstarter thing is quite a buzz...
Simon
I know... this is the 5th project I've backed! I've received 2 of those already (The Nezumi Voiture and the River Watch Co Tibor Sport) and was very pleased with them.
As of 19:25 they're up to $51,000 already...

Who's still in for the CJR Airspeed?
The latest update says they're on track to deliver in October.
I'm quite excited, partly because I have no idea if my 'investment' will reap any reward whatsoever, this being my first Kickstarter project!
M.
I'm still in but downgraded from the duo deal to a single watch as funds needed to redirected for another watch
I've got another Kickstarter that's due to deliver this month (this one: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...?ref=user_menu), so I'll let you know the outcome! The CJR one should be fine as this isn't his first KS launch.
I also put myself down for this one: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...?ref=user_menu
Regretting it now as I don't want another quartz... I'm in the process on selling all those ones off.
Very unexpectedly turned up an hour ago!
I got a mail earlier in the week saying I'd get a message telling it me when it shipped, but here it is already!
What do I think?
Well, it's a bit odd having a watch with a plastic case (light and WARM against the skin), but it certainly looks different! Definitely not another Kickstart Sub-alike!
Surprisingly easy to read too!
The strap is a bit like a Colareb Venezia I have on my Seiko Alpinist. Not as good, but a similar feel and feels pretty comfortable initially.
M
PS looks like it has a crystal protector in place still!

I like it because it's different. but I think I'd fail to be able to tell the time at a glance.
A few more quick and dirties...
Side on showing the metal centre frame with the two hardlex shells top and bottom.
The back, showing the plain Miyota movement, not sure it needs a hardlex back too, but I guess the two halves are the same(?).
Another shot of the front.
My initial thoughts on seeing the promotion on Kickstarter was that it looked a bit like a Ressence, but in reality the similarity is only passing, but it's certainly different and I like it (Unlike most posts like this, you won't be seeing it on SC in a day or two )
Time will tell how hardwearing the clear case proves to be...

Mine is being delivered on Monday I think. Unless I absolutely fall in love with it I'll be shipping it on. I think my problem with KS isn't the watches but that my direction in collecting changes over the length of time it takes to fund and ship the watch.
I've just been notified this morning that mine has now arrived at the DHL facility at Heathrow, so I imagine it'll be delivered today.
Really not sure what I feel about this one - snowman's comments about the light warm case make me wonder if I'm going to hate it, whilst his wristshot makes me suspect I'm going to love it! Time will tell...
Simon
OK it's arrived and I love it. Strap is rubbish though. Any thoughts on which strap would look good?
Steve
How about a Yellow Dog leather NATO?
http://www.yellowdogwatchstraps.com/
Going to be tricky to find many options with the fixed wire lugs, but I think one of those would work (I have one I bought for my Dreadnought Voyager.
Lovely, soft and supple strap, but the Voyager was too heavy for such a soft strap and tended to flop around unless it was very tight.
This wouldn't be a problem with the Airspeed.
M.
Just realised that the wire style lugs actually take a standard springbar!
I still think a Yellow Dog would suit the style though.

Received an update email from CJR
For the past three months, our team has been working hard to look for watch case substitution after receiving multiple concerns regarding cracked case. AIRSPEED’s unique design (as explained in Update #3) is the key reason why some of you experienced this problem. After a thorough testing with a few other materials, we decided to switch AIRSPEED Hesalite to a much harder glass. We’d like to apologize to those affected and offer all our backers the following solutions.
They're offering to replace casings which are damaged FOC and pay for postage both ways (Seems fair), but for casings which aren't, they are offering to replace, but not include postage TO them.
I've just checked mine and it has a couple of small cracks near the left lower lug, so I've emailed CJR, explaining the damage and will see how they respond.

Hmm that's a shame, but I guess is the consequence of fitting hesalite front and back - a bit too vulnerable to damage.
Mine was certainly undamaged when I sold it on through SC, but if I still had it and it wasn't damaged I personally would still go for the retrofit...
Good that CJR are taking responsibility, anyway...

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
They look huge, unless the people wearing them have very small hands,,,, and smell like cabbage.
Has anyone had any luck getting a response from CJR? I have contacted them through their website and left posts on Facebook for the last week and getting no response. Can't find a phone number for them either
