I think more watch could be had for the money. Looks a bit 70's pimpin. But if you like it why not
Cool
Not
I have the urge for a 70's retro watch and saw this on ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1721978063...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Now in my little head I think it's quite nice, but showed my wife and she gave me her "WTF?" look so am I just mad or is it cool?
It's not the small version, but appears to be the full size at 38mm not inc crown and 40mm with crown
Looks to be in great condition with no plate wear
Opinions sought!
Thanks in advance
Mark

I'd side with the wife, but as previously said, if you like it why not!

It's certainly 'of it's time' and is a more interesting choice than the sort of thing most people choose to wear. May be slow to move on if you're a serial flipper.
I think it's cool. Looks to be in really good nick too. And doesn't it have a high beat movement?
It is definitely of its time and looks like it. Having said that, if you like it I wouldn't let the opinion of your wife prevent you from buying it and wearing it in the most prominent position possible, every day and drawing people's attention to it in every social gathering you both attend.
Thanks for the responses so far.
Poll now added!

Yellow gold is always cool.
Can't say it butters my parsnips but each to their own. Maybe on a nice simple leather strap, at a push, but that bracelet is OTT.

I'm siding with the wife on this one
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Lots of 70's cool watches, but that most certainly is NOT one of them...

My main area of concern would be around the condition of the plating. I've no personal experience of plated NSA bracelets but there is quite a lot of wear on the inside of the band and given that it is in all likelihood original to the watch I'd be worried about how much plating is left on the case itself and particularly as it looks rather polished.
I quite like 70s watches with TV dials and I believe Favre Leuba are vastly under-rated but I'd wait for one in stainless steel. With that in mind I might also extend my search out to include Rado.
No its not cool.
Mind you, you could complete the whole pensioner look and get some polyester trousers that go up to your armpits and a green cardigan to go with it.
Come on Mark, you know it's cool.
It is very 70s (fulfills your brief), has a fast beat movement and a genuine NSA folded link bracelet of high quality and frosted centre links.
What is more it still retains the original crown.
I personally think this is wirth all of the asking price, but he is inviting offers, so it could be even better value.
Here is a watch spot article on what I suspect is the same movement - looks good.
Dave
ps - whether or not you will wear it is a different question altogether
pps - edit - there is also an SS one out there for sale in Slough which does look even cooler..........

Cool
I would happily wear it
Remember, its hip to be square
(And theres nothing wrong with polyester trousers either even ones with elasticated waist bands)
I think you'd have to see it in real life and on the wrist, I've owned a couple of vintage FL and Rado's, they look iffy in pictures but wear well and look good on the wrist.
I see no problem, as long as you dress appropriately when wearing it..........

Not to my taste, but if you like it then go for it!
It's not quite bonkers enough to be 70s cool in my opinion.
It's just sort of dated looking. (Sorry M)
Its horrid, but being considered 'cool' or not by anyone else is irrelevant. If you like it, buy it and enjoy it! (Just don't ask us to congratulate you on your purchase!)
It's beautiful, bracelet & all. A very well designed watch. Good price too and if he accepts an offer below asking even better
Not very cool, something that has not aged well with time in my personal opinion
That watch was never cool.
Pretty cool!

If you're the type of man that drives a pink Caddy Eldorado whilst listening to Curtis Mayfield on your 8 Track, yes it's super cool
I think it's cool.
If your are going to 70s theme party :)
Not my bag. ...but that shouldn't influence your decision
Hi there, it's difficult to see the proportions of the case on the photos. When I read your thread I was expecting some monstrosity from the 70s but when I opened the link I thought that's quite a nice looking watch so I say go for it (at the risk of getting flamed by your missus) :-)
It's cool Mark.
I had the steel Searaider many moons ago, a pretty large watch.
The high frequency movement just adds to the cool factor.
Cheers,
Neil.
Sorry mate, I'm in the 'not cool' camp on this one.
Simon
If you like it buy it
The Rado's look cool, the other you mentioned.....Not so much !
Cool, depending on your style and if you wear it with confidence.
Very cool!

Now that is cool
Hahaha that is such a Mark watch!
You'll buy it, barely wear it then get stuck with it!
Sorry, not remotely cool.
Not for me...
But then, I'm not the one thinking of buying it. If you like it go for it.
Agree, not for me but if you like it who cares what anyone else thinks

Not cool, IMO (not my taste) but then if you like it, then rock it like a boss!
Coolness!
OK on a strap, but the gold-plated bracelet is a bit OTT for me. Provided the plating on the case is still good It should be OK. As for wifey's opinion, just ignore her. My missus doesn't like most of my watches but that doesn't bother me.
Should you favour the polyester kecks/ green cardigan look the watch will work better on a gold expander bracelet with plenty of wear and tear.......... Think carefully before going down that route if you're under 70
