Beautiful work, very inspiring
Great work as ever, wotsch. I've not seen that vintage dial pattern before, it works really well.
Do you buy these watches new somewhere or is it vintage?
Welcome to the forum Martin. Wow - that is a loud bezel! Did it come from Pers like that or did you paint it yourself? Not sure I'd go for that colour myself, but great job.
Bit of both on this thread. Try www.meranom.com if you're after new stuff.
Welcome to the forum . That's a very brave choice of bezel colour but artfully done. I can't help thinking that the green of the dial and the green of the bezel clash slightly and the watch would look better with a black dial but it's not really about what I think. The radio room mod is also well done.
Great thread for a great watch. Thanks to all who have posted.
Thats a beautiful Mk1 swing lug there Martinss!
Here's my latest mod. A 100SE from Meranom, with the movement and dial transplanted to a bead blasted 100 case. Along with a Murphy bezel I had in my box, the case has been treated with aluminium oxide before bead blasting to give it a dark matte finish.
The bezel inlay was a problem. A blue one clashed with the orange and silver and black ones just didn't look quite right, especially with the matte case and bezel. I found a gunmetal grey inlay on offer from a Polish seller on the Bay, which I think works quite well. I'm pretty pleased with the result, and I think that the dark matte case and bezel and the plain grey inlay bring out the dial very nicely. I hope you agree:

I'm not 100% sold on that combination - I think the case & bezel might suit another dial (perhaps something blue) and the dial could also do better (maybe if the inlay were black not grey). I do really like that bezel though - kinda boring but in a good way. Quite 'industrial' looking, especially with the bead-blasted case.
I think im gonna try this. Where do you get you bezels? Looks like murphy doesnt have any?
That's one of the new pers184 bezels, no?
Very nice indeed.

I had a look on his site and the only one he doesn't seem to have in stock is the one in the pics above (VO1060). The other three types seem to be (at the time of posting) available:

Brilliant thread, so many great watches, thanks everyone.
Murphy only makes bezels in batches, and they are not cheap. For Vostok's the better source is Boris, he has stock and is cheaper (Ł20 including the insert !). A typical ebay listing looke like this...

There's a guide on that website...

I like this one a lot, besides that beautiful dial, it looks like my Murphy mod (bead blasted case), but I choose besides the different Murphy bezel, a different insert and together with Dave, I ordered a Chinese bracelet, better then the folded Russian thingy, this has solid links and also blasted that one... I like your coin side bezel too!

Started life as this:

Then:
090 case from Zenitar
Bezel from Boris
Insert from Dagaz
Original tropic
This is how mine looked when it arrived from Meranom (and then after a little modding): http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...=1#post3656133

I've not been happy with the aesthetic result of fitting a clean polished bezel onto a starburst finished case, which was my original intention here. This is a blue bezel from Meranom as fitted to some special editions, I think it's a better option. http://meranom.com/amphibian-classic...lue-bezel.html
Martinss,
That looks great on all those straps. I really do need to have a go at this but I have not found the right bezel yet.
That sounds like a good reason to buy another Vostok.
They are beautiful Yes, but not very good quality, I broke a few side wire to swap them for one clock to another
Some beautiful examples, but I think this is my favourite.
Bookmarked for future reference.

Looks great with the clean bezel.
...and that's a lovely Ruhla clock.
Than you, Wotsch !!
Here's a temporary mod. I have a particular goal in mind, but while I'm waiting for a case to be ready I wanted to try out the combination of Seiko hands with a 512 dial.

This is the first time I've tried to fit Seiko hands to an Amphibia. It was a bit tricky as the hour hand has a slightly larger hole than the Amphibia hour hand (1.5mm instead of 1.4mm) so I had to squeeze it a bit to get it to fit. The result is worth the effort though.

The bezel is one of pers184's latest designs and is really nice.

It'll do as an interim solution until the other case is finished.

Inspiring as ever, wotsch. The Seiko hands look great and open up a world of possibilities.
