Ok, perhaps somewhat sadly, this year I seem to have become addicted to a couple of tv drama series. First Vikings, brilliantly made, fantastic characters and a touch of history (I had no idea the Vikings sacked Paris). Then tried Game of Thrones, could not get into this at all, characters seemed a bit limp wristed after Vikings. Just finished Breaking Bad, wonderfully watchable, now I need another! Google searches suggest Sopranos, Sons of Anarchy, Walking Dead. Who's got a recommendation please!
Better call Saul is brilliant. Different to Breaking Bad but shares the same universe obviously.
The Wire.
I never finished Breaking Bad. Just found some of it unrealistic and silly.
The Wire ive watched twice.
Each to their own and I did enjoy Vikings, but it's nothing on GoT. GoT has much more depth, more going on, and the majority of the characters are complex.
In answer to your original question; just hit Netflix and watch away. Better Call Saul, Sons of Anarchy, Orange is the Black, Suits. If you've only really just got into the series binge thing I would just pick a show at random and go from there. You don;t really want to start with all the top shows and work your way backwards.
White collar and suits, both on Netflix.
I did Breaking Bad and thoroughly enjoyed it, followed it with Suits which was moderate to fair but I watched it out. Now I'm just approaching the end of series 1 of Under the Dome which ain't too bad.
It's keeping me watching it so I guess that tells you summit !
Walking Dead is excellent, it had some low points through the seasons but very watchable.
Yep 'The Wire' - excellent!
and 'Better call Saul' - only one season so far but great.
Also "The Wire" greatest series ever IMO and recommend Boardwalk Empire.
I really enjoyed Breaking Bad, but for me it went on one season too long.
The final season I found a chore, and then I amazed my work colleagues by never watching the final episode. I no longer cared!
The Wire
The walking dead
house of cards
GoT
Orange is the new Black
american horror story
boardwalk empire
deadwood
dexter
hannibal
rome
ripper street
sons of anarchy
spartacus
the shield
the sopranos
the wire
true blood
true detective (season 1 ) , season 2 which has not long finished was shat imo
lost
band of brothers + pacific
Band of Brothers - amazing!
True Detective (1st season)
The Tunnel
GOT seasons 1-4 - best TV show I've seen
This comes up all the time (including a thread by myself - d'oh!) - have a look HERE
Boardwalk Empire remains my all time favourite TV drama show. The Office: An American Workplace is my all time favourite TV comedy, followed closely by Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Currently watching House of Cards, which I found hard to get into, but I am glad I stuck with it.
Game of Thrones is well worth a look.
Vikings is good too.

I managed 2-3 episodes of Vikings and Boardwalk Empire and found them dull. Maybe I need to give them another chance.
Some I've enjoyed / am enjoying: The Wire, Sopranos, Walking Dead, Bosch, Invaders (albeit from the 60s, my all-time favourite), House of Cards, Game of Thrones, Unit One (Danish), The Protectors (also Danish).
Didn't like Vikings at all, just seemed unrealistic.
Definitely check out Soprano's, a brilliant series.
Keen on Ripper Street too.
Cheers,
Neil.
Sopranos
The Wire - need to get past the first few episodes
Walking Dead
Fear the Walking Dead - just started on AMC
True Detective - first series don't bother with second
Oldie but gold - I, Claudius
Ray Donovan
Fargo TV series - Billy Bob Thornton is fantastic in this
Band of Brothers is great, also fun spotting the English actors playing the GI's.

The Wire
The West Wing
The Killing (Danish)
Also check out Bloodline on Netflix - set in the Florida Keys. Really good.
Sons of Anarchy is gritty and violent, but the storyline is good and there's some 'complex' characters.
Going back a few years, see if you can find The Shield - one of the best TV series I've seen and very deep plot.
Prison Break is of course excellent too!
+1 for Ray Donovan. A bit hard to get into, but great characters and sub-plots going on
Boardwalk Empire was good but went on a bit too long?

Useless fact trivia of the day...I used to work with the brother of the prison break convict Lincoln....
My vote would agree with most of the above however one not mentioned....
Daredevil..... Superb....as real as a comic bought to life can be....
Arrow ...less gritty than Daredevil but great fun but still dark in tone sometimes...the Flash spinoff is much lighter again than Arrow but fun popcorn...
Continuum more sci fi time travel fun..
The Wire I completely agree with...but stop at Season 4....
The Sopranos naturally....
Narcos enjoying at moment too
Orange is the new black...good
Mad Men also not mentioned yet (which I found slow first time but am re watching it now)
Suits (that I watch purely for the assistant Rachel...simply stunning in every way)
The Affair - cleverly written shows the story from both characters side within the episodes and don't know who's telling the truth...(for fans of The Wire it's Dominic West in the lead)
Not seen BCSaul yet but will do....nor Sens8 yet which has been tipped elsewhere as promising....

Better call Saul +1
And for some fun, entourage. Loved that series, epic in its own way.
Just started watching 'Hand of God' on Amazon Prime, pretty good so far, Rin Pearlman and Bubbles from the Wire is in it, and some redhead from Desperate Housewives too, I couldn't place her and her Wiki says she's 59, she looks amazing for 59... I think I would...Dana Delany.
I know it's a bit retro, but surprised no one has said 24!
Vegas with Michael Chikilis and Denis Quaid was an amazing TV show.
Black Sails
The Americans
Better call Saul
and Peaky Blinders, brilliant
Another vote for Narcos and Bosch (big fan of the books also!), really good stuff
All, most, great recommendations, but if you haven't watched the sopranos that should really be on top of your list.
The only other good one that wasn't mentioned already that I can think of is Banshee.
The first series of Under the Dome is OK but it rapidly goes downhill after they run out of ideas from the original book.
After watching the first episode of the third series I commented to the wife that I'd be amazed if they got through the season without it being cancelled - it's now been cancelled.
There are some cracking series above, but a couple that no one has mentioned yet are -
Battlestar Galactica - good even if you don't like sci fi
Oz - Hard hitting prison drama
I've posted this a couple of times ... but worth adding to this thread ...
http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-ra...d-breaking-bad
Surprised nobody has mentioned Justified ..........probably one of my all time favourites.
Further series for people to try that we enjoyed:
Banshee
Hit and Miss
Hannibal
Oh I forgot to mention Homeland is good too
I really enjoyed the first 2 seasons of 'the Americans', cold war sleeper spy type thing. Season 3 has started recently, so i'm recording those to binge on later.
Has 'Oz' been mentioned yet?
Brighty
There's one called 'Justified' I quite like...
.... just kidding, never even heard of it.
The Following with Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy is definitely worth watching, 3 seasons from memory so not too long - though not sure if it's on netflix, we recorded from Sky Atlantic. Not for the squeamish though.
Far less serious but "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" is very funny, plenty of seasons to get stuck in to, and it's quite pick-up-and-put-down-able.
