Wow, looks fantastic. Congrats
I just completed a deal with Baden H buying his Longines 9k gold watch as I have been wanting to add a dress watch back into the collection and ideally wanted a gold one but purchasing new and in gold is prohibitive with prices. I've also been wanting to scratch the vintage itch for a while so this was a no brainer given the sums involved as it was only a few hundred £.
Gave it a light polish with a cape cod and a clean. The watch winds perfectly (manual wind movement) and keeps great time. Size is fine for me at 35mm and wears similar to my DateJust. It also still has its original box and strap (not shown), and I have a new strap on route as the one i put on was just a cheap ebay job.
There is an inscription on the back as its was presumably a retirement gift but I quite like it as it adds a bit of character to the watch.
Here are a few snaps if your interested...
Cheers

Wow, looks fantastic. Congrats
An absolute beauty, certainly turned my head when it was on SC. just lovely!
Yes very nice, surprised I missed that one.
Lovely dial.
I looked at that a few times in SC too - I must say that first photo is brilliant, gutted I didn't buy it now!
A totally lovely piece, the dial is perfect in its simplicity.
Marvellous!
Good to see that your leaving the inscription intact too
Lovely looking watch
Interesting business too: http://www.coats.com/index.asp?pageid=20&time=year1800s
What a beauty though. Lovely things, those old Longines.
That's exactly the sort of watch that shows the Longines brand at it's best. Lovely.
Lovely - and in fantastic condition! Didn't the boy do well?
A good choice for a dress watch, vintage is the way to go in my opinion for a watch that isn`t going to be worn 24/7. Timekeeping may not be as good as a recent/modern watch but that isn`t really a problem for this type of wear.
This looks like a good 'un to me; best way to keep a 9ct watch shining is to use a rouge cloth every couple of weeks.

It's a beauty.
Lovely dress watch and like you say the inscription adds character and a history to the watch
A positively beautiful watch. Simple and classic face. Sweeeet.
Good choice...that'll do the job, even if it's not a dress occasion.
If it is a Dj affair, a black strap might be more appropriate. This is the one I put on mine: eBay 130632722353. I really am impressed by the quality of Di Modell straps; they're flexible with a soft lining.
