Well if Im going to exclaim "I don't like it!" then the hand style would be the reason rather than any cut away detail on the dial.
I have said it once and will say it again, I don't like cut off arabic numbers! This is taking it a bit too far. I appreciate that it has to be done sometimes to fit everything on the dial.
In this case they are targeting the ladies but do they have a different perception than we do? A lot of ladies watches do not have a second hand and they could do without the subdial. 40mm is a sweet size and their Pilot watches look good imho. They are also the only manufacturer that can put "Pilot" on the dial.
Ranting over for now. i think they are spoiling a good looking watch.

and I don't like the lugs or little bumps on the left hand side...
sorry but I like all of it.
What makes you think that this is a ladies watch, and why would ladies not require a seconds subdial?
If you prefer your arabics unmolested, have you looked at the 45mm Extra Special (whisper it - the one with the sellita engine).
A lot wrong with this - apart from the strap. Lovin' the strap.
Theres nothing I like about that watch, and that includes the cut off numbers
big crown, nice to look at, not nice to wear
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
I agree, having only half a number seems a little odd. In the case of the Rolex Submariner and many other watches for example they leave the number 3 marker off in order to facilitate a space for the date - thats the way to go, not put a number there and then chop half of it off.
Ah, so they do.
Well, kind of. I think their site is a little messed up.
It's listed under "Ladies Watches" but if you click on it you are brought to their "collections" listing (read gents watches). Strangely the diamond encrusted "Type 20 Lady" does not appear under ladies watches. I think some mix up happened between these watches on the website - the Type 20 Lady is the one that should be in the Ladies watches section.
Either way, the 40mm Type 20 is indeed a unisex watch.
This is quite different to it being a watch targeted at ladies however.
I used to have one and loved everything about it apart from the size. It wore too small so I gave it to my girlfriend.
I like that Zenith didn't put a date at 4.30 as they so often do. Other than that, I'm stumped.
Says it all, that 40mm is now a ladies size... The watch industry is going diameter crazy. And that's not even mentioning thickness stupidity!
I could easily do without a second hand of any description on my watches. I can't remember the last time I ever needed to refer to it.

It's just a fashion cycle. 2 years ago the ladies were wearing hipster jeans. Now they are wearing jeans that pretty much cover the belly button.
That's how the fashion industry survives (or dies, if they overstock).
Meh, ladies can wear whatever size they like. I'll stick to 35-39mm.
Cut off numbers don't bother me, I would love to have this watch.
I'm not sure which prestige Swiss brand it is (JLC or PP I think), but one makes a watch with about 1mm of a "12 " remaining above a moonphase or some other complication and it looks far worse than that.
That really was a totally pointless inclusion, imo. Generally, though I agree that numbers are best complete or absent.

PS MIGHT have been this IWC, although I seem to recall even less of the 12 being visible.

I really like these, I'm actually currently looking for something like this, but a bit bigger 40mm pilot doesn't seem right.
Cut off arabic numbers do not bother me at all. I actually prefer it based on dial aesthetics. Zenith make some of the best dials available today.
I really like it. I've ogled these through the window at Berrymans in Nottingham....eye of beholder n all that. I prefer the GMT version though.

Thats a watch that went 12 rounds with the ugly stick. And lost every one of them.
I'm just a very naughty boy.

I don't mind 'cut' number at all, and those hands are lovely :-)
I realise this and date windows get a few people worried, but there are so many watch types out there now there must be an equivalent that makes it just right for you??
One day I will get one of the Zenith Pilots!
Cheers all
Tim
It looks wrong in so many ways. The numbers (cut off, size, 6 looking more like a G), the hands, the lugs, even the crown.
