Really sorry I know how emotionally attached you can get to them. Beautiful cat.
Our sweet cat was hit and killed by a speeding car up our residential street on Thursday - I feel like putting up a big sign on the road saying - "Thanks, you killed out cat - next time it could be a child" - It's the only road around here without speed bumps - I guess the council is waiting until someone dies before they do something - anyway they should put up a speed camera - they'd make a load of money.
So I buried the little guy this morning. He was so sweet and he used to follow around like a dog, but also tore up the side of trees and around the garden like a mad firball. Also loved to be tickled on his tummy and around the ears. So - no more summers or winters for him - he only saw one of each in his very short life - sadly he was only 1 years old on Wednesday. He'll be missed.
R.I.P Pepe
Really sorry I know how emotionally attached you can get to them. Beautiful cat.
Rest in peace Pepe. He looks like what short life he did have was filled with fun, love and mischief!
Our kids cat got clipped by a car recently too.
Thankfully survived, after having a big op and pins put in its hind leg!!
RIP, taken far too early.
I can feel with you. We lost a tabby in January, again to a speeding driver (right next to a school!) he would have been 3 in the February.
Kids were distraught,
Collected from the local vet a few days later, after some kind person took him in - rather than leave him in the road gutter.
Driver still probably speeding about now, totally oblivious.....
Martyn. I am so very sorry to hear that news. He looks like a great cat, beautiful in fact.
You never forget the animals that make such an impact in your life. I think about our dear departed boy every day.
I know how you must feel, I'm not ashamed to say I cried when our lovely cat was killed by a car. We now have 6 cats and never bought one, they just find us.
Eddie
Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Very sad news. RIP little fella.
We also have a "ginger ninja", mad bugger but very affectionate. Have lost 2 cats previously on our main road but with this little chap I started my Harley up when he was young and curious about the world roadside and he's never ventured there since (touch wood!).
Sorry to see this Martyn. Lovely pics to remember him by.
Sorry to hear the news are 4 legged family they do play on our heart strings thoughts are with you buddy
Sorry for your loss. Having not so long ago lost a young cat to illness, I have an understanding of how upsetting it is.
Really sorry for your loss :(
I can imagine how you must feel.
Rip little fella.
What a waste :(
I still miss mine, killed on Feb 11th this year.
Sad for your loss.
Its heartbreaking isnt it. I cried when my cat died a few years ago (ran over by a tractor in the field).
I would certainly think about putting that sign up. Drivers all too often just dont think - a life is so easily extinguished just to get to the next set of red lights 30 seconds sooner. I never break the speed limit, and spend most of my driving time with other cars right "up my a*se" so to speak. No-one has any patience any more.
That's totally shit, so sorry for you and the family.
I hate people that speed around residential areas with no thought for others.
RIP Pepe
My condolences to you and the family. Rest in peace Pepe.
RIP little one,
go chase the mice on the other side of the bridge now.
Sorry for your loss Martyn, it's an awful way to go for a little critter..
Sorry to hear of your loss.
Poor old Pepe.
Sorry to hear this Martyn, I know how you feel.
Cats and cars are not a good mix, we had one run over many years ago.
Cheers,
Neil.
Such a terrible shame.
I was so upset a few years ago when we lost one of ours, I said we would not replace, but we have done so.
Very sad indeed. I'm not really a pet person, but I have become very attached to Freddie, my son's Bengal/Pixie cross.
Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.

So sorry to hear that, I'm another unashamed cat person and over the years have shed many a tear over some good little friends that have died. I feel for you..
Sorry to hear about your loss Martyn. Cats make a house a home.
Tell me about it. I lost my cat last August, through illness aged 11 and I blabbed like a child. In mitigation Dad was going through end of life at the same time.......
Worse though was I had to take Dad's dog to the vets for the last time three months before, went with Mum and I decided I had to be strong for her. Massive fail, I was a puddle on the vet's floor........
I did have a happy ending though. A couple of months after losing Dad a couple of beautiful stray kittens walked into my life and made my home their home!

So sorry for your loss, especially at such a young age and in such cruel circumstances.
Our cat is 18 years of age now (i.e. a very good innings), and he similarly behaves like a dog in many ways (e.g. he regularly came out for walks with our Kings Charles before she died young last year). I find myself as much attached to our cat as I was to our dog - just in a different way.
I hope you are able to replace the gap left by his passing.
RIP Pepe.
That’s really sad Martyn.
Martyn, I've never owned a cat; it has always been dogs for me (whippets and lurchers). But I feel your pain. Beautiful looking creature that was taken way too soon. God bless him and condolences to those he left behind.

i would be desolate if mine went.

Sorry for your loss :(
RIP Pepe
Very sorry to hear this, he was a lovely little chap.
At least the brief life he had was with people who loved him.
Take care.
Dave
Sorry about your loss. Our cat Tom was hit by a car when only 9 months old. He survived after a huge operation with pins in his hip and leg. His beautiful sister Dotty who we got at the same time died from a horrendous disease called FIP just weeks earlier so we were emotional wrecks for a while. Expressing strong emotions for a loved pet is to be encouraged in my world.
As the sign by our back door says....
Cats leave paw prints on your heart.
RIP Pepe
sorry for your loss
Wow guys - I showed this thread to my wife and we are so touched by all your sympathy and Eddie (thank you for your message) - thank you for such a great forum, supporting us in our time of grief.
Martyn
very sorry to read this, such a beautiful cat with a lot of character. I lost a ginger cat the same way just over a year ago, on a fairly quiet narrow road, and still get upset when I think of her..
keep your chin up Martyn,
Sad news, sorry for your loss. I'm sure he had a great life with you. I've always had cats and am not ashamed to say I've cried when I've lost One of them. Currently got two, one of which was a stray that found us.
I am not a cat person, but I am very sorry indeed to hear of your loss. Never nice to lose a close friend.
I'm sorry for your loss. A fine looking cat. Have lost a few the same way too.
RIP Pepe. We only recently were adopted by our cat, Karlsson, so I know how attached you can get to them. Really sorry for your loss.
Martyn so sorry to hear this buddy, we got adopted by the bagamule a few years back and at around 12-14 I know it's a when question.
I hope you have many happy memories of him and find a new fury friend when the time is right.
Very sad indeed. My thoughts are with you.
Very sorry for your loss. Animals make you feel younger and give all their love without judgment or condition. We have chickens and they don't live for ever. They all have different personalities and are very loving. When they go they are sadly missed.
I'm no urban speeder, but this has made me think again to keep checking my speed. We should all be careful; less speed more haste.
At least your little fella had a good life and was clearly very loved. Rest in peace.
So sorry to hear, it's my biggest fear for our two. We live in a fairly quiet area but my cats have taken to walking up the middle of the road and it just takes one idiot to speed along it :(
Sad news :( .... anyone who's lost a pet will know the feeling, they leave a huge gap in your life
