My 'by default' holiday choice is a Seiko Orange Monster. There's actually a conditioned reflex going on in the mean time - whenevery I put that watch on the wrist, I feel holiday-ish :)
Going on holiday to Turkey in June and was thinking what watch to take, have seen a nice G Shock on here which is tempting but wondering what others watches would be good for this.
Doesn't have to be feature rich just something that is nice, cheapish which will take water and general wear and tear.
Any suggestions would be great...

Similar situation here.........I had thought about taking one of my 7548 Seikos, but finally decided that a G-Shock would fit the bill nicely.
If you really don't want a G-Shock, then an SKX007/9 is always a good bet.
As a rule, I am traveling with a diver.
They are robust, Water resistant and I like the option to measure time with the bezel.
We aren't due a holiday watch thread for another two and a half weeks, what's wrong with you??
A camo g shock would be perfect 😜 you have a pm
Has the search function packed up yet again?
Travelling without a 3 watch pouch is madness. MADNESS!
I take a G shock GX56 as my pool watch, yes its big and leaves a fair sized white patch on my wrist but it looks great and can handle everything I throw at it.
Normally take a GMTIIc with me but this time I don't want to care what time it is at home so DSSD is coming for evening wear.
SKX007 with a couple of different coloured natos.
On holiday, I imagine you want don't want to be overly conscious about what is on your wrist.
I would recommend a G-Shock or a capable diver on a rubber strap. Note though that some watches (including divers) have springbars and fittings that when immersed in water are likely to come loose (including bracelet pins). So if it's an expensive watch I would test it out in a swimming pool first. Overall, I think it's all too much hassle, just slap on a g-shock and go.
Sailing in Greece.
Will take the PO for evenings and as my SMP took on some water last year I have ordered a nice cheap Borealis Sea Dragon for the water.

I second the orange monster.
Skx007/9 are a good shout too, but, hey you're on holiday, get tangoed!
I always take a Monster with me, plus maybe one or 2 others....next time I go on hols though....this one is coming with me too!
Vostok Amphibia. Perfect holiday watch :-)
This is my trusty holiday watch (with a nice Panerai worn in the evenings)...
Depends where you go. But if difficult places a watch that works well, that will not look attractive to others or expensive. Cheers
Either a Seiko orange monster or a Sinn U1-w, sometimes both (though not at the same time).
Seiko 5 would be my shout for a low risk easy to replace option. They come in loads of variations and often with nylon/canvas straps so are great for going in and out of water etc. You can even pick them up on Amazon for under £50!
I tend to wear my GMT everywhere. Waterproof and covers the time zone issues with ease.
I bought a cheep digital to take to a South Africa but hated it. I think my Vostok will cover the inexpensive option these days.
Pleamar got the nod last year
It will be joined by the new seiko
For the pool and an occasional jog... The trusty G
My holiday watch is a Seiko SNZF17. 100m water resistant so great for the swimming pool. Robust and reliable 7S36 movement and smart enough to wear at dinner. It even has a display back.
Not my photo but just to give you an idea. Available for £114 from Creation
I take a BM on a lumpy bracelet or a 007 on an Oyster bracelet as a back up
What with all the heavy stuff on this forum of late, I think we need to get in the mood............
SKX007/009. That's what mine is for.
Seiko black monster for me every time.
I used to take a G shock on holiday but then went to an orange Sumo. However recently it's been an old and well used Bond SMP. Thinking this year it might be my orange PO.
Like a bit of colour on my summer holiday watch
I don't get the concept of holiday watches. Seriously guys just wear what you want. With all these G-shocks it looks like you're preparing to be conscripted by the local TA.
My holiday watch is my Seamaster! Just an amazing all round watch that can take any punishment!
Its a GW-4000-1A3ER, I took mine to Florida last year but have since bought a PRS 18Q to take with me on my next holiday in the Far East/Australia.
I get the "take whatever watch you want" thing, but need something tough, waterproof (snorkling, pool) under the radar, and relatively cheap if I loose it.
I have taken my Sub on holiday and have no worries wearing it. However I'm not a big fan of wearing a watch during the day on a beach holiday. Too hot, too much sun cream and sand and I like to chill out without a watch sometimes. With this in mind where do you leave it, deffo not the safe in the hotel. City breaks or similar, I'd wear my Sub every time.
I have taken a skx007 previously but find it doesn't stay wound as I only wear them on the night.
